Thanks Brendan and yes I plan on covering the jab but please do feel free to do it yourself, I look forward to seeing your video. I Should be in NY in late March. Got a few fights coming and can't move around too much before that. Keep you posted.
a few details in there will keep me from falling too far back and giving up so much space.particular the thigh weight and the chin tuck. i caught someone with lesser experience in an armbar in class yesterday but it was the 20th attempt for me and it was just sloppy. there all so sloppy from me because im new. got to tighten that shit up lol
I really like your teaching style, you explain everything very well. Sometimes good instructors make videos that aren't good, because their teaching style doesn't translate well on video, but you're very detailed and you take into account that you have a camera filming you. Great stuff, I learn a lot from your channel.
Thank you so much for posting these videos Firas. You`re such a great talent and a tremendous resource for myself in gaining a greater technical understanding of these movements. Appreciate your time and effort . Take care
Thank you so much! My gym does the set-up very very similar but I really enjoy that small detail with your chin tucked plus keeping the legs tight and together!
How about a combo of throws or takedowns that chain or somehow force them down? Or another head kick setup, can't go wrong there!! Just brainstorming, thank you for the tips!
Are you doing these as a one-off. Or do you have a tutorial, site or DVD. (And thanks for showing these. Your techniques are great, (efficient, elegant) and your teaching is very precise and succinct)
Thank you and yes will eventually want to do something more official and catalogue the techniques. For now having just having fun with this youtube channel. Really glad you guys are enjoying the videos.
usually though the guy won't bring his arms up, rather he'll have them tucked in. Whats a better way to break his defence when your mounting him and he grabs your wrists and won't let go?
ok so only a year late. if he grabs your wrists you have the dominant gripping and leverage circle your wrists out etc. as for a better way to set this up there's many ways. a basic good one is to fake a Americana.
Hey Firas, loving the videos! Btw, did you ever cover standing up from closed guard bottom, or half-guard bottom? For some reason I thought you did but I couldn't find anything on this channel.
when i do this particular arm bar, my opponent always either knees or kicks me in the face while i hook the arm toward his legs, which throws off my concentration and often times i disengage from the position sooner than he taps. does anyone have a solution or counter to this predicament? edit: i train mma, i realize traditional bjj doesn’t have strikes
My professor always preaches don’t cross the feet. I feel like I’d finish the armbar more if I crossed my feet. Is there a reason he’s teaching me not to cross them? Thanks
When you are on top crossing the ankles behind the shoulder traps it making it hard to escape, but if you are being stacked crossing your ankles wont allow you to push them away ass effectively
That old lady that always gives me the wrong change at the Costco is in for a big surprise now.
😩😂😂😂
He got the great value GSP for this one
That’s fucked up 😂

ohh mannn i didnt know about tucking the chin!! thats why i always sit back too far away haha! i love your videos! i wish i trained at tristar gym!
Same here, nobody tells you this stuff! Kept wondering why I was falling so far away. Awesome details in these vids!

Thank you soo much,
I was struggling with this technique, and you gave very important details

Hello john h
Nice detail on tucking the chin

Thank you for sharing! Very nice details (head down to land closer to shoulder was an excellent point I never noticed before)
one of my favourite techniques especially when they try to escape mount they leave their arm open and thats when i attack
Shape up always on point.
These are awesome!, thanks, and keep 'em coming coach Firas.
Clean and simple. Thank you 🙏
As a beginner this was perfect. Will look at more videos of you, very technical and easy to follow
all in the details. you are a treasure, respect!!

A problem that I encounter is when my opponent slames his elbows on the mat and cant get my knee underneath.

Tristar Gym
Thank YOU!
Excellent. Thank you.
Saw a video of Roger Gracie teaching this exact way
usually though the guy won't bring his arms up, rather he'll have them tucked in. Whats a better way to break his defence when your mounting him and he grabs your wrists and won't let go?
Just stare into his eyes. Eventually he will let go
+ffo kcuf hahahaha

another way is to collar choke if you're training gi. When they reach up to defend hook the arm and finish the arm bar.
What do you do if he bites your leg
Break his arm lol
@@smurf88 either this, or the pressure from the leg across the jaw will turn his head away regardless.

makes it easy for them to hook ur heel and u cant squeeze with ur knees as much. they make us do burpees for crossing lol
Great videos, can you show an armbar slicer, txs
Firas is suck a cool instructor. Very creative.
Why does he cross his legs when hes sitting back for the armbar? A lot of instructors have always told me to not cross the legs.
When you are on top crossing the ankles behind the shoulder traps it making it hard to escape, but if you are being stacked crossing your ankles wont allow you to push them away ass effectively
Wait I thought ur not supposed to cross the feet at the end?
3:05 ouuu, love that to do alone
Ty
Muy bueno
i used some of this today in class. imma come back in comment when I actually do it correctly lol
I wonder if he made the vid 4:20 seconds on purpose or if its just a coincidence🤔
thanks!
Thanks Man !!!
Being 250 lbs I dont want to crush my training partners chest while pivoting.
Similar to the technique I learned
Does all of your students look like GSP?
Videolength: 4:20 - coincidence? I think not!
Jokes aside, very nice vid. You're da Real mvp.
