    Thank You for the tip...............I like this version with the palms against the forehead to reinforce the frame, I will definitely experiment with this................My weight is 134 Pounds and my side control frame often gets collapsed against bigger/stronger opponents, when this happens - the compression of my forearms towards my biceps causes TREMENDOUS pain in the elbow region.

    • @CoachZahabi
      @CoachZahabi  9 лет назад +1

      Try rotating your palms inward. This will alleviate the pain. Learned that detail from Carlos Machado

    @kurtkrienke2956 9 лет назад

    great video and explanation as always, thank you so much Master Firas! Can you do a video on what you do when your partner settles into side control near your hips, too? I've been having great success with both prayer and now frame position, however people now tend to rotate their hips towards my head which makes them fall into side control "underneath" (as in nearer to the hips, right behind my elbows) the frame often, which leaves me not only in a worse spot but also exposes my arms for a brief moment. Thanks again for your great work with this channel!

    • @CoachZahabi
      @CoachZahabi  9 лет назад +1

      +Kurt Krienke yes I am definitely considering doing that video very soon. Just a note. Be sure that when you get in the frame position seen in the video, that you stay curled up. Be sure to keep you elbow and ribs connected while still maintaining the frame. Also bring your knee in to close of any remaining space.Glad you are enjoying the videos.

    • @kurtkrienke2956
      @kurtkrienke2956 9 лет назад +1

    • @kurtkrienke2956
      @kurtkrienke2956 8 лет назад

      I have been staying with it and it is paying huge dividends. Even our black belts can't settle into side control comfortably anymore, instead they opt for knee on belly which a lot of the time opens up a window for escape. Thanks again for fixing this big hole in my game, Master Firas!

  • @brandonpennington8503
    @brandonpennington8503 4 года назад

    I'm a big dude--athletic, quick--so, I've been concentrating on my guard, and just generally starting from my back. I'm a no stripe white belt, so of course, I'm eventually getting passed and ending up in side control, then north south. This video helps enormously because I was giving up chest-to-chest too easily, and then trying to frame with one hand on their hip, and one on their neck, and it was too easy for them to isolate an arm, apply pressure to my diaphragm, etc... So, sincerely, thanks; no one wants to be in north south any longer than they have to be LOL...

    I’m a white belt but I train things over and Over again and I’ve noticed that you only need a few subs and reversals/sweeps to a high level to be effective rather than learning everything at once and not really knowing anything.

    At 3:23, what If the opponent shoves your defense leg and mounts? How to defend against that?

  • @Draceb
    @Draceb 8 лет назад

    The prayer position looks good my only concern is when you frame out people wont get into full side control they will attempt to grab at your arms and get inbetween them i myself cant touch my elbows together in the middle so there is always a spot to force a hand in. then they can seperate your arms. or they will lay sideways onto your stomach which the knee helps with but can easily be pushed down.

    hello, I just found this video and definitely subscribing. all great escapes. but I found that last frame escape from north south very handy for when in kami shiho gatame, a judo pin. is there anything different you would do if in gi and opponenet had right underhooks holding your belt. I hate being in that pin, it's very difficult to get out of. thanks a lot!
