I bought the "Barrel-Aged Maple Bourbon" from Midwest Fragrance company based on the recommendation. I think it smells a more maple than anything else. Have you tried it with Patchouli? I am wondering if the Patchouli get's it closer to the Squatch Wood Barrel Bourbon.
Where did you see patchouli in the ingredients? When I looked I saw Saponified Oils of (Olive, Sustainable Palm, Coconut), Shea Butter, Natural Fragrance, Jimmy Red Cornmeal, Brewer's Yeast, Sand, Annatto Powder, Kaolin Clay, Sea Salt, Iron Oxide (Colorant) I’ll have to try this recipe!
I had to dig around to find it, it was somewhere online, in a description of the soap somewhere. Also, since making this I sniffed some cedarwood and I think that fragrance is actually closer than sandalwood.
I did the tsp and water method with bentonin clay the other day and it all sank to the bottom .. I noticed when I was pouring in the mold, when it got to the end all they clay was on the bottom. Has this happened to you before? Should I try kayloin clay next time? Also I’ve noticed all my exfoliants have been sinking to the bottom as well instead of being throughout the bar :/ any tips? I’m just beginning in soap making and doing melt and pour right now, if that makes a difference
I just recently had this happen with a powdered additive and mixed the powder in some melted cocoa butter (a couple wafers worth) then blended with the M & P soap base and it mixed well, that way you get the benefits of the cocoa butter too and a harder soap.
@@theeverydayfarmhouse8722 how many batches do you estimate it would take to break even and start saving money vs the 6 pack price at Costco? Right now we pay about $28 for a six pack. Thanks.
Hey there.. A quick question.. If I wanted brown instead of an orange'y red, could I not use the annatto and red iron oxide and substitute for just brown iron oxide?
@@theeverydayfarmhouse8722 since you have made this, what color do you think it would be without the annato and red oxide? does it need a brown iron oxide to get to a brown color? your Pine tar without the charcoal is a nice brown color..
There's a fragrance oil from Midwest Fragrance Company called Barrel-Aged Maple Bourbon that is spot on for this dupe.

Love your Formulas ! The Goat milk and Pine Tar Soaps turned out amazing ! Thank you for taking the time to share ❤
Also would love to see your take on their Fresh Falls soap!
Ah yes, someone else has asked for that one too! We'll see, I have a couple other soaps to make first!
please do more dr squatch!!
Can we get fresh falls next?
PLEASE make a free solo scrub dupe since that would be the BEST scent
I love this video! can you make a dupe of dr.squatch's female brand, jukebox? They removed palm oil completely and changed the whole formulation

Melt and pour doesn't hold the additives throughout as well. Try your hand at cold process. The results are much better

Add before trace and mix more

I paid 6 bucks for this Dr. Squatch soap and. Loved it but it is way too expensive. I got to try this!
Your initial investment is not going to feel like a savings though!

The annatto is also red so perhaps leave both out and just try the brown iron oxide. There would be no problem with that.

@@toddwallace1267 It would be white or off white.
