I love the ridiculous notion that in like 5 years of trying to beat the race, not a single person ever thought to try driving backwards from the finish line. This challenge was an invention of the movie and wasn't in the book, which I guess shows that Spielberg isn't a gamer. That clue would've been found on Day 1.
I mean there are dedicated glitch finders who literally do nothing except exploring the map all day with no plan of winning. They would have found it in the first 10 minutes of the game launch itself.
Yeah this was the most unbelievable thing about this movie. In the book I feel like someone would also discover it day one but at least with that scenerio I can suspend my disbelief enough that it doesn't ruin the story for me.
I would have then solved the first challenge in the very first day because I usually just wait and accelerate the car back wards in my game and then boost it up forward . I sometimes do win and sometimes do not but it doesn’t matter Because its fun. I still wonder how for 5 years no dumb head like me ever tried it 😂

This is one of those movies where you need to appreciate it separately from the novel. I read the book before I saw the movie and I thoroughly enjoyed both as their own thing. I'm almost done reading Ready Player 2 and there's just no way they can make it into a movie the same way and Ernest Cline admitted he did that on purpose. Read the books, watch the movie. Enjoy both as their own thing.

Serious Sam wasn't the popular, just a little over 700k copies, but being DRM free it spread like wildfire on torrent network. Again, the race easter egg was easy to find just because he read the section of a journal. Nobody tried to go full speed backwards, probably just slowly backed up.

The Headset used captures thoughts. What if the thought of it beeing the right way opened the wall behind Wade? There are many untouched or unexplained layers so we cant really say its "just" driving backwards

@Dam Sen I wouldn't mind. Tho tbh, I'm also really interested to see what other lobbies (or beings) people might create. Lovecraftian beings, alien halflings? Maybe even some old timey lobbies based on certain eras or decades. Maybe a dance club based on the 1920's theme. That would all be really cool with the amount of creative freedom we could have in the future. Man all of this makes me want to try creating and hosting stuff like that but I gotta find time to host it and learn how to use the available resources to make them. Sheesh and I barely even have time to work on writing these days 😂

The title "Ready Player One" is iconic. I never knew what it represented. It seems to reveal that it is being in the present- mindfulness- relationship- connection and connectedness with each other- that is the answer to the emptiness, depression and dissassociation from ourselves we may find ourselves suffering. This may sound obvious and redundant. But in fact it is becoming more and more difficult for some to find or make peace within. We must let go of pride and a holier than thou attitude towards those who are "different". And find value in family and respect for all. May we all be strengthened, enlightened, and learn where our own paths to service lie... for there lies joy and great sense of achievement and belonging.
We are slowly getting closer to this, Haptic Feedback vests exists (knowing some friends who got some), omni directional treadmill exists, and vr gloves exist (but not for consumer use atm) and of course the vr. Its pretty crazy how close we are to this movie if you do the research, coming from a 5 year vr user!

I think the issue is that too make money from a movie nowadays, you really have to engage the viewer in a big story (which usually is saving the world) to make money

Iron Giant was a weapon, wrecking shit up kinda makes it sense, considering it was just a model not character. It would be stupid if Iron Giant tried to love and tolerate out of 101 and Mecha Godzilla.
I don't know if the film was catered to the West or not, but having the Wing Zero appear would have made much more sense as Gundam Wing is popular in America. Plus, the original Gundam is BARELY known ever, including the anime fanbase.

The movie missed so much details from the books: The energy wars, the modern slaves at IOI, the bandits lurking in the roads between major cities, the ACTUAL challenges needed to find the keys which were actually somewhat difficult, the lavish lifestyle of the super-wealthy, and so much more. this movie should have been a limited series
As a fan of manhwa or comic that goes well with gaming. I'm impress and love this movie as hole. The twist and story fit well. Who else is a fan of gaming genre!!?? I hope sooner or later more isekai/resurrection/gaming genre can be made into a movie too.

When I saw this movie I was pretty disappointed, because the book offered a lot of character development and a lot of cool scenes, which the movie didn't show any of that. The book was something fantastical, and the definition of a gamer's wet dream.
after listening to the summary and lesson to the recap, I better understand the message of this movie. They also did a good job showing so many videogame easter eggs that show how much they know about videogames in general. I applaud this movie.
I think this movie is what’s needed for my Gen and the ones after so we can understand being online can only go so far because if and when it goes down all we have is people and real life.

Master chief's appearance made me cry in joy
When I saw this movie I was pretty disappointed, because the book offered a lot of character development and a lot of cool scenes, which the movie didn't show any of that. The book was something fantastical, and the definition of a gamer's wet dream.
Tbh the book is better but it's hard to have wade act out all of Monty python and the holy grail in the movie. It would've just been too complicated
