I have been a diesel (O.T.R) mechanic for 32 years. I realy enjoyed this video. Bobcat needs to hire you to teach new technicians in the field!!!!! Great job.
Thanks! O man, I went through the ringer last year with my 2015 t450. Bobcat does not machanic anymore theyre only fix was to change out complete fuel system, every fuel line, elbow, and flush tank thoroughly. They only wanted $15k to do it! I fought it at first but after months of no resolution I ended up buying every piece myself, saved about 7k not buying theyre reman pump kit and i got brand new, i flushed the tank way more then I know they would have, replaced all the lines every part, then had to pay them to do the main parts so they could program them or whatever. Now that I have some understanding of how everything works I'm 90% sure it was a injector. Before all that I was working with a old school diesel mechanic that couldn't make sense of it all and we cleaned every ground changed cam Sen, crank Sen, fuse block/wire harness, sun of a gun. Then finished that and my joy sticks starred giving me issues, so I changed those also.lol. now i bought a transfer tank with a filter with water block and only fuel up out of this, did good for a while but twice my right joy stick gave me codes and today it wouldnt run kept giving me meturing valve code, I shaped it with my old one and got it goin but now I'm paranoid! Not to rant but I'm sure I'll have some questions for you. Thank you for your videos....
Your videos are awesome and informative. I’m working my way through a T595 intermittently stalling under load. I was hoping it was just air intrusion from a broken pickup tube but it was all intact with strainer/check valve on the end. Getting a 157-21 Code (Rail Pressure Control Fault).
I have a bobcat t595. I watched a few of your videos on the fuel system. I have no start issue. I tested the old imbv valve and it would not close or open it also had damage on the connector of the valve I replaced the valve. Bled the system again. And still no start. Prior to this when I bought this machine I completely drained the fuel system. I was told by a couple people that used it this needed a fuel pump that’s what they thought at least.
Very informative video. I’ve probably put 30 pumps on and haven’t timed any of them. Was always told you don’t have to. Any chance of a video on how to build that tester for the imv?
I did many myself without timing but now that I understand why it's recommended I do time them now, only takes a few minutes. I will link the parts for the servo controller and motor driver, it is very helpful with the IMV and with actuators.

Another great video. My T650 with the Doosan D24 never wants to start when it's cold out. When I say cold I mean below 50F. I have to prime it every time and start it right away. If below about 35F, I almost need another person to squeeze the primer while cranking, then it starts right away. I just put a new primer on it, thinking the check valve was leaking back, but that had no effect. When I prime, the bulb gets firm, then soft after a couple seconds. Not sure if that's normal or not. The primer will stay firm if I pinch off the return line from the injection pump, but I would not try to start it that way. If I keep squeezing the primer firmly (while return not pinched), I can faintly hear a hissing sound coming from pump or IMV. This seems logical that they would allow for a tiny amount of bypass so that air can be bled out easily. I'm wondering if the lift pump vanes are a little gummed up and sticking when it's cooler outside and not being very effective. I don't have any codes on the display.
Do the static test on the injectors and let me know what you find. It's normal for the primer bulb to soften up after priming. Also check the screen on the IMV for contamination. It could also be the low pressure relief in the pump bypassing. Either way start with the static test.
You CAN buy the sensor without the rail, but you must order it directly from the manufacturer “Thomas Group/Delphi” in the UK:) Takes 1-2 weeks to arrive here in Florida.
Not sure if you will see this comment.. but, I have a 2016 S650 with that 2.4 and I have 1 injector (#4) that has NO fuel coming out of the return line when I attach clear hoses to all my returns. Original issue is that machine won’t start unless I squirt a little starting fluid, then seems to run good, but will not restart on its own without the starting fluid. I swapped injector #4 with a spare new injector and it fired right up… shut it off, and it’s doing the exact same thing again. My guess was a bad connector or wiring to the pcm. So, I checked and the wiring is free of breaks, and connector at injector is good… what’s your opinion on this? Also, pcm connectors, and pins are all clean and making adequate contact.

Hello, I've been having issues with my d24 s650 and we have talked a couple times. Crank no start unless I use ether. now it wont start at all. Frustrated I took it to dealer they said they were not getting fuel from the high pressure side of pump and it was most likely the injection pump. So I picked it up today and tore down the pump as you taught me. All looked good except for the low pressure relief valve had scoring on it. My guess it the vain pump charges to 86 psi in body and imv cavity, and that is enough to overcome the spring on the inlet side check valve of the high pressure pistons. Since I have scoring on the low pressure valve I'm not able to build enough pressure to fill the high pressure bore on intake stroke hence the pump putting out nothing. FYI before I tore this down I was squeezing the primer bulb and when it built pressure I could hear hissing in the injection pump. Probably bypassing the low pressure valve just by hand? What do you think of my diagnosis?
Very interesting, I'd love to have that pump for inspection. Did you get a new pump or did you just pick up the old one for inspection. If the vane pump is not damaged it should build enough pressure to feed the high pressure side. I guess it depends on how bad the scaring is on the low relief. Did you cycle the IMV valve? I really appreciate your informative videos. I am an old school mechanic so learning how different these common rail engines are is quite fascinating. Any idea what the life expectancy of these Doosan fuel systems are (in hours) given proper operating conditions?
Question, during operation high rpm’s its runs between 600-650 ma. But when my unit shutdown before it codes it’s goes to like 900ma and rail raw pressure and read pressure drop to 0. Also the coil is hot asf! Which always leads me to short to ground. I went ahead ordered imv since she hot as hell before it codes out. Also just having it unbolted and feeling it after shuts down it feels like it pulsing like the valve is closing and opening extremely fast. You can cycle the key and she fires right up. The unit finally has went from 2 hrs of operation to like 2 min which is easier for me see what’s going on. Now customer swears if he changes fuel filter out it runs longer but no case anymore. Nothing was on the imv screen at all. But the Ma calling for call for 900ma is odd to me. I ordered imv of Amazon for like 70 bucks as bobcat wants like 1500 for it lol. Well guess I’ll see Monday if the imv fixes it. I will check the wiring to imv but never had blown fuse or cam sensor errors etc.
CN the imv throw to much fuel should it stay buzzing loud at all times. I kept getting low rail pressure took the imv off beat on it. It started buzzing but now machine is smoking real bad black smoke. Cant figure it out and knocking sound
The ECU shuts the engine off electronically, it the engine continues to run then its getting fuel from an alternative source, oil from a bad turbo maybe?
Hi i have a question regarding this pump - i have no start and code regarding low fuel rail pressure i have tested IMV valve and thats working as i should - i have hand pumped the premier bulb but its not going hard after 20 pumps - should it go hard ? or is there something im missing ? Im thinking injector but should the primer pump still go hard ?
What cuts the fuel off to the engine when you turn the key off on these common rail engines? I know on the older "mechanical" engines they have the fuel stop solenoid.
I have a T630 that will not prime for some reason. Every time I squeeze the primer bulb it acts like it’s filling the filter then going to the pump, except when I squeeze the bulb about 10 times, it eventually gets firm then when I unscrew the water separator on the bottom of the filter it’s like all the squeezes I just did come out all at once like it’s not going through the pump. Any ideas? I’ve Already checked imv, fuel lines, fuel filter replaced, fuel pickup had a tiny bit of rust on it in certain spots so I cleaned with brake cleaner and blew off with air. New battery as well. Machine will crank off ether and stay running with no issues or codes until I turn off and try to restart then I get a low voltage code M0309
I've tried to call and text you a few times. I replaced the injection pump in my s650 and it solved my no start issue. I was wondering if you wanted to tear down my old pump for fun? You mentioned you might want to see it.
Thanks for your help, I'm not bobcat technician, but I'm working on my friend, some helper put gasoline on it, I removed the injectors and pump and to diagnose and find 3 broke injectors and pump broke, so my friend bought pump and injectors new, I flush all lines and diesel tank, put it back together with clean diesel and star perfect for 2 minutes and then die again and don't star again, and have a lot experience on big trucks but really I don't know what happen whit this bobcat, I hope you can help me. Is a 2015 s570, thanks
We stumbled upon your videos as our S650 just died. Bobcat says fuel pump needs replaced, looking at close to 5k after labor. We are looking at installing a reman pump ourselves. Is there any programming or coding we will need to do after? Thanks!
@@tetradgroup not according to Bobcat, the pump physically broke. I would send a pic if I could figure out how. But yeah, our mechanic spoke with Bobcat and they said pump only, injectors should be fine
Hi . I did the static test in t550 2014 . Two injector was bad . Since before didn’t want to start just with little spray of started fluid. Well that how I did the static test . I chance the four injectors and the fuel lines . Well went I did that the machine started and few seconds later died . Since then I can’t get to started again. Could be fuel pump bad ???
I have 12.5v on the white wire to the imv and 10.5v on the black wire to the imv. Is the black or white supposed to be ground? I went through the whole harness and found some bad wiring and repaired.
The basic principles are the same but the Kubota uses the Denso system. The Doosan engine uses the Delphi system which is what this video covers. The Doosan engine is swapping over to the Bosch fuel system on the later engines.
Totaly unrelated question here, i have a bobcat T740 track loader, just purchased from an auction, they had unplugged both swash plate sensors to put in limp mode, after plugging them back, runs for a while and shuts down with code, D7528, i have purchased a new swash plate sensor, my question is , does anything have to be calibrated when i change this sensor? Also i did remove filters and check for any signs of metal in fluid, found no signs of metal and fluid looked clean, have new fluid and filters to change as well. Should i check anything else before changing this sensor? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I'd have to check serial number but it's possible the swash plate bushings are worn out. They are plastic bushings and requires pump tear down to replace.
I'm working on a 2016 Bobcat E35, It will not start on its own. A little shot of ether in the filter, it starts right up and runs great. But it will NOT restart on its own. Any ideas?
We have the Diesel Laptop computer, no codes, pump pressure is 4000 psi, new injectors which we programmed by the computer. We also took out the squeeze primer bulb and put a little electric fuel pump in its place, no differencr so we put the squeeze ball back on it.
Major help! But I need help, I have a s570 that wouldn’t start, no codes. Called bobcat field tech. He said need whole system, due to pump failure. I pulled the pump and inspected just as you did, I see ZERO metal, no contaminants, etc. Could it fail with no signs?
@@tetradgroup he said it wouldn’t build rail pressure and there was metal. I have found no metal. And didn’t look like anything was Remove to check from metal all over
@@ryanhurley4871 just one bad injector can cause a low rail pressure issue, of course I'm not the one who diagnosed it but if you'd like to schedule an appointment to talk about it you can do so at www.4tetradgroup.com
I have a question working on a d34, replaced pump, injectors and fuel rail, once it cranks the metering valve closes and i wont get fuel to the injectors. Can anyone give my what else can i do. I gave no DTC's
How do you know the IMV closes? Unplug the fuel rail pressure sensor and try to start the engine, it won't start however it runs high pressure through the injectors and helps clean out any air that may be in the system after replacing everything. Plug the rail sensor back in and try to start. Might have to do that several times.
Hey Brady just got off the phone with the guys over at Diesel Laptops and they claim to have all the software that bobcat has.He also told me all the software is able to calibrate and program the new delphi injectors.Do u know anything about this company?
That is correct, Diesel laptops does have the engine software but I have not confirmed they have the Bobcat machine side software however the engine software will code injectors. They also rent laptop's if you just need a one time repair.
It depends on if it is a D24 or D34, but the instructions are in the service manual. For more specific instruction and help, please feel free to contact me through my website. www.4tetradgroup.com

wish if you had any vidéos regarding bobcat T450 implement issue E005321 M3204
I really appreciate your informative videos. I am an old school mechanic so learning how different these common rail engines are is quite fascinating. Any idea what the life expectancy of these Doosan fuel systems are (in hours) given proper operating conditions?
Hey, great video. I'm only getting 1.5 volts to my IMV valve what should that tell me?
Make sure you check to battery ground and not terminal ground. White wire to batt ground should be 12v. If not start with fuse #21
Also codes p0254. Which is rail on bobcat but which is imv on my Jaltest software.
CN the imv throw to much fuel should it stay buzzing loud at all times. I kept getting low rail pressure took the imv off beat on it. It started buzzing but now machine is smoking real bad black smoke. Cant figure it out and knocking sound
Hello? I have a question, why does my Bobcat S650 start but not turn on? I put the starter in and if it turns on, could you help me? What could I do?
I have a T550 bobcat with this pump that runs fine but wont shut off. How or what shuts of the fuel to stop the engine?
The ECU shuts the engine off electronically, it the engine continues to run then its getting fuel from an alternative source, oil from a bad turbo maybe?
Hi i have a question regarding this pump - i have no start and code regarding low fuel rail pressure i have tested IMV valve and thats working as i should - i have hand pumped the premier bulb but its not going hard after 20 pumps - should it go hard ? or is there something im missing ? Im thinking injector but should the primer pump still go hard ?
Thank you
What cuts the fuel off to the engine when you turn the key off on these common rail engines? I know on the older "mechanical" engines they have the fuel stop solenoid.
Thanks!
Hi I'm trying to install an injection pump on the v3307 motor. I can see the timing marks but after that I'm lost
I've tried to call and text you a few times. I replaced the injection pump in my s650 and it solved my no start issue. I was wondering if you wanted to tear down my old pump for fun? You mentioned you might want to see it.
Glad that solved your issue, I would definitely like to have the pump for tear down. Did you not have to pay a core charge?
No I found a new in box pump on line no core.
Hello I'M JOSE VALLEJO
FROM CALIFORNIA
I HAVE CUESTION.
HOW REPLACE FUEL
PUMP ON BOBCAT
640 dosan
I am curious does the motor haft to turn over faster than 500 ram to build sufficient pressure
How to timing the high pressure pump..
Any codes? I would pull the injectors and install upside down so tips pointing up and try to start and see if any injectors are firing.
No codes, ok I will do it and let you know what happens, thanks a lot
No firing, no spray, any suggestions? thanks!
These damn doosans!!!
My t66 track loader just threw a code: P1134-11 fuel lift pump short to ground.
Please help?!
We stumbled upon your videos as our S650 just died. Bobcat says fuel pump needs replaced, looking at close to 5k after labor. We are looking at installing a reman pump ourselves. Is there any programming or coding we will need to do after? Thanks!
Just a pump? If pump is bad then injectors are probably bad as well. Something doesn't sound right.
@@tetradgroup not according to Bobcat, the pump physically broke. I would send a pic if I could figure out how. But yeah, our mechanic spoke with Bobcat and they said pump only, injectors should be fine
@@kylenash3525 interesting, I'd like to see that, send a picture to 4tetradgroup@gmail.com. No programming required for just a pump.
My pressure pump on a engine 2.4bobcat is leaking fuel in the outside cavity's how to check the pump please thank you
Super good

White wire is good but black wire is PWM from ECU so hard to check for voltage. What are the symptoms?
I have S770 2014 and I would like to know if V3800 Kubota engine for bobcat machine has same fuel motor pump as Doolan engine?
Can you have a bad pump, imv, or injector and have no codes?
I'm working on a 2016 Bobcat E35, It will not start on its own. A little shot of ether in the filter, it starts right up and runs great. But it will NOT restart on its own. Any ideas?
What engine does it have?
@@tetradgroup Doosan D18
We have the Diesel Laptop computer, no codes, pump pressure is 4000 psi, new injectors which we programmed by the computer. We also took out the squeeze primer bulb and put a little electric fuel pump in its place, no differencr so we put the squeeze ball back on it.

I have a pump that is leaking low pressure fuel through one of the bolts that fastens it to the engine, would you know why?
The case must be cracked I would think.
Did i have to timing the high pressure pump
Not necessarily, it's best to time it but not absolutely required
How to timing the high pressure pump please thank you...
Great vid! So how about getting me some of that software!!! 😜
Definitely working on it, I think everyone should have affordable access to software and drivers. Hopefully one day something will be available.
Major help!
But I need help, I have a s570 that wouldn’t start, no codes.
Called bobcat field tech.
He said need whole system, due to pump failure.
I pulled the pump and inspected just as you did, I see ZERO metal, no contaminants, etc.
Could it fail with no signs?
It's unlikely. How does he know the pump failed?
@@tetradgroup he said it wouldn’t build rail pressure and there was metal.
I have found no metal. And didn’t look like anything was Remove to check from metal all over
@@ryanhurley4871 just one bad injector can cause a low rail pressure issue, of course I'm not the one who diagnosed it but if you'd like to schedule an appointment to talk about it you can do so at www.4tetradgroup.com
To time a injection pump on s740 3.4 is it hard
Very easy
Can you give me information how to do the job
@@rogerfranco903 I would need serial number due to different style pumps to describe the process. You can contact us @ www.4tetradgroup.com
Ok I will thank you
I have a question working on a d34, replaced pump, injectors and fuel rail, once it cranks the metering valve closes and i wont get fuel to the injectors.
Might have to do that several times.
i saw the video i understand why it needs to be timed but i can't find a video to show me how to time it;
The procedure should be in your service manual, if you need more help or information contact us a www.4tetradgroup.com
por favor ayudeme no acelera la maquina que puede ser le cambie los inyectores
Could be lots of things, fuel supply issue to bad fuel, low compression, turbo, I need more context on what the original issue was.
Please send me information about the software Diesel lop top.
How bad can def fluid in diesel do to a t450
