This guy has been a bible for me, I recently started my own business and somehow, I started getting a ton of Bobcat coming in the door. With little experience on Bobcat, this guys videos have saved me, I look forward to many more. !!
We have this problem on our d24, noticed red diesel in yours. In KY red diesel is low sulfur but a d24 only takes ultra low sulfur. Ours had red sadly and it will cause your injectors to weld themselves open or closed, obviously ruining them. Wasn’t sure if that was something yall were aware of. Look at your stickers on your equipment! $2000+ fix. We bought ours that way and learned the hard way. Love the videos! We learn so much every day on our skids because of you!
I don’t even own a bobcat new enough to have these problems but love watching how to diagnose and repair I really appreciate these videos and strongly hope you keep them coming
Thanks for your videos. I have learned a lot from you . I’m an automotive mechanic and this year I started working on construction equipment and is another kind of bull , I like it’s good $ to be made . Thank you again .
I've never worked on or even needed to repair a Bobcat. I just watched this with your brother for entertainment purposes only. And holy smokes! I am pretty much an expert now. Start working in the field tomorrow. You the best!
"Hopefully that helped"...you are so humble man. the info you share with us is priceless. For those of us with Bobcats, alot of times we feel very alone with no support. Your videos are immensely helpful to put it mildly. My T300 loses power on very cold days in northern Canada if I leave it out overnight, even if it's plugged in overnight. I squeeze the primer bulb and it doesn't readily fill up until I start the machine then it seems to. Also, it takes a few squeezes to get fuel to come out the vent above the fuel filter. I've even opened the purge nut and I have to squeeze the bulb several times until fuel comes out. You think it's water/ice in the tank?
Thank you for the kind comments. Depending on which fuel pickup tube you have in the tank it is possible for ice or gelled fuel to build up around the pickup screen. Have you noticed the primer sucking flat when you start to lose power? That would be an indication of a restriction in the tank. Also check the condition of the lift pump by opening bleed screw on filter housing and turn the engine over with starter and you should get a good strong stream of fuel from the bleeder while the engine is turning over. Sometimes a weak lift pump can case similar issues.
@@tetradgroup Thank you so much. Warming up to -8 tomorrow so I'll try the lift pump check. Was -40C today with windchill. When the unit dies, the primer is empty but not collapsed because of the cold I suspect. I've watched so many of your videos, I'm going to open the cab up tomorrow and see if I can get the pick up line out and replace. Watching your videos has given me a real sense of confidence that I can at least begin to troubleshoot issues.
Dude you’re the best!!! I have a T650 that has that code, I’m definitely getting the tool made and check my skid steer out. I’ll let you know what happens. Thanks from Texas.
I work at a bobcat dealer and one of my favorite jobs is doing injectors, dont know why but I love doing them. I can't tell you how many machines ive done where the customer will put injectors in and then bring the machine in because it runs rough or whatever. Quick bit of coding, mdp learning and send them back out. I dont know if this is the proper way but its how ive always done it, i put a little bit of grease on that fire ring to hold it on the tip of the injector and then slide it in
Great information , I had one injector leaking the same way. Changed all 4 and now it still won’t start but my low pressure code went away . I pulled sensor and it cranked normal then it actually sped up instead of slowing down.. the metering valve is working and I did not find any noticeable material
Thanks again for another great video. I have a new e42r2 so Im not sure if it’s a lot alike but this seemed like good info for when mine gets to be aged. Thanks again.
Excellent question. The injectors work very hard under extreme pressure and it is necessary for the injectors to have some fuel leakage to help actuate, lubricate, and cool the injector.
Just wanted to reach out and say thank you for taking the time to post this very detailed video. Found the cause of my no start it was a stuck open injector clear hose test worked great! I'm now chasing another issue where I need to bleed the fuel filter in order to get it to start. Almost everytime.... After bleeding the top screw on the filter cartridge it fires up and runs great, Is there an inline check valve or something that has failed on my machine? not sure where this air/ loss of prime is originating. Even ran the filter inlet to different fuel tank to isolate it being a cracked line further up stream. Any ideas??? Thanks again!!! Vince
Man these video's are awesome! This is another great video! Really like that you get right to it and don't waste a bunch of time. Can you recommend some quality hex wrenches?
Man you do a great job explaining what you’re doing!!! We have a T590 with the same engine. The water wasn’t drained out of the fuel filter and the machine stopped running. I replaced the filter and went through the sequence of bleeding the air out. Still no start. Do you think I would have a contaminated pump or rail? What’s my next step the clear hose on the return lines to see how the injectors are performing?? Any help is appreciated!! Definitely followed and liked!! Thanks
This video actually saved my gold mining season up here in Nome Alaska where there is no Bobcat dealer or mechanic within 600 miles as the crow flys. Thanks bud…🙏🏼🤙🏼
I just got a 2017 T595 that doesn't start and has no code popping up. What valve is the most common to create the trouble where the machine won't start
I have 2 questions, is it normal for the diesel to come out hot through the return line? The other question is, what causes the injectors to be damaged in that engine model?
Is it possible for the fuel rail sensor to go bad and trigger full pressure? Working on a s590, hard start. Replaced fuel filter, upgraded style. Doing a 1000hr service. It has problems starting especially when it's cold. It smokes when cranking so I know its getting fuel. Seems like bat is bad, tested 2x. Good bat. Really really hard cranking. Will test starter also. Great vids. Bet bobcat loves you!
Thanks for the comment. With out software to test the injectors I would start with a compression test on the cylinders. I don't think the rail sensor is bad because it would code out and not fire the injectors and since you have smoke then it sounds like rail pressure is satisfied and injectors are firing.
Great Video and easily understood! I apologize, for being off topic, but I don't know how else to contact you. I have a 2017 T-770 with an L 7404 error code coming on - It runs (at idle only, won't rev up) for 30 seconds or so, and then the headlights come on as the unit shuts down. I sure would appreciate any clues you have, or advice. Thanks so much, Bob
Love your videos , I am a dairy farmer and own 7 bobcats . I put 500 hrs per month on some of them . Just wondering if you have ever had trouble with drive Moter carrier bearings going out which then the seal goes out and fills the gear case with hyd oil .
Yes, not uncommon failure. There was a design chang on many of the M series skids due to seal failures in the carrier and not necessarily bearing failures.
Great video man. I got a bobcat dead in the middle of no where. It doesn’t start I did that injector test and I got diesel coming out of all injectors but a lot more for injector 1 and 2. Is it safe to say they’re all leaking?
hey question I have 2016 bobcat t650 with D24 engine my machine turn on im getting E0000157--22 code and E000094-11 I did replace fuel filter and put new fuel. where should I start do leak test ?
do i need to plug off the injector return lines? i start to get a lot of air in the output of the injectors with the return lines unplugged. 2018 T770 d34P
Hi I did the test with the clear hose and my injector number 4 had zero fuel come through inject 2 and 3 2 worse than 3 dumped a ton of fuel out of the return
I have just tested mine it only starts with starting fluid, anyhow three of them fill up that fast. Do you think it is 3 bad injectors? And should I replace the whole fuel system? Bobcat wants 7500 for a fuel system kit including the pump. I found one on expert diesel online for around 3200. What are your thoughts on the two.
great video Have a t450 no start fuel flows out all 4 return lines right away 3 seconds new injectors and fuel rail installed fuel also coming out return lines pulled off any thoughts
got a bobcat 322 excavator , it has a fuel starvation problem,,, runs for about 5 minutes then starts to dog out... go to the squeeze ball and pump it up and it runs like a champ again, but only for a few minutes.... i have changed out all the fuel lines, cleaned the fuel tank , new filter, new pump, even put a sediment bowl in the line before the fuel filter... stlll looses prime and dogs out. it is acting like old style vapor lock, cant find any leaks anywhere.. it does run longer with the rear door off but that only extends the time before it looses power... check the sediment bowl, it is low on fuel, squeeze the primer bulb and it picks up again but only for a few minutes.... any suggestions ? it is sucking in air somewhere but i cant find it
I got a dead 2015 s590 w/Doosan. Died while operating. Cranks, no start. Replaced fuel filter. I cracked the line from the pump to the fuel rail and cranked... no pressure from the pump. Took the fuel meter valve out.. cranked. And fuel shot out of the opening... do I got a dead fuel valve?? Can it be tested?
That's a tough one, it can only be tested with software and it's almost $1000 to replace valve. Do you have any codes? What exactly were you doing when it died? Try not to crack any lines on fuel system. Try to remove drive belt to eliminate any possibility of hydraulic load on engine.
@@tetradgroup was just pushing dirt around working on getting a pad ready for concrete. Noting really tough. Never had a problem with this machine usually runs like a top. Hi there! I have been sharing these videos with my husband he has a T590 skid steer. Your videos are extreme helpful especially when talking about the injectors! I'd like to ask you about the fuel tanks and cleaning those is there a cleaner Bobcat sells that you can put in them and cleans or whats the best way of doing that?
Great question, I'm actually working on a video talking about fuel and fuel treatment. Bobcat sales their own fuel treatment which is a proprietary blend and and highly recommend using to protect your fuel system. Best place to purchase is a bobcat dealer but it is available online thru Bobcat parts but they require a case purchase.
@@tetradgroup okay thank you so much for the info! I just have one more question does the pistons gotta be top dead center to time it? He has timed it twice and have had limited time working on it and have some free time. This machine only has 300hrs on it so you can understand the eagerness of wanting it running!
Hello, had a low rail pressure code. S570. Replaced injectors, it started once for about 10-15 sec. Made a slightly funny noise and shut off, now it is a crank no start with no codes. Pickup and all lines where replaced as well. This will likely end up at bobcat as I don’t want to throw more parts at it but definitely had at least one bad injector. Any suggestions or insights? Thanks
Here in Europe we have much more experience with Diesel engines ,,Most of our cars have diesel than petrol engines,,And it's been like that from the mid 1990s,,,And I can tell you now that you don't have to replace the high pressure lines going to the injectors once there is no damage to them,,,They can be used over and over ,,,
Thank you for the great vid, very informative. Have a similar issue with a track loader(same d24 system). We tested the pressure sensor by un-plugging it and cranking it over with no audible difference in resistance from fuel pressure being “wide open”. Also static(leak) tested the injectors from the fuel return as you did. Had #4/3put out appx 4” of fuel to 1/8” tube, and injectors #2/1put out appx 3” of fuel to 1/8” tubing(same setup you used). This happened in appx 5 seconds, which seemed to be quick) . Wondering what to test next. Seems as though not getting enough pressure as there was no “resistance” upon cranking with pressure sensor unplugged(sending unit/pump?) or could all injectors be bad(highly unlikely but they all put out similar amount of fuel fairly quickly? but completely possible in my world 🤦🏼♂️) The fuel system has been completely purged and cleared. It did have water issue that came from a faulty fuel cap(😫😫😫), and that problem has been diagnosed and corrected. New clean fuel/filter/all things good now. Just not sure where to go from here. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated!! Happy New Years!! It’s a 2017 t595 w low hours and never had any issues with it whatsoever until now(obviously the water in the fuel) thanks in advance
It was appx 5/7 seconds- seems like way too much fuel for such a short time- that would mean all the injectors are bad, yes? I understand the water could have damaged them, but all of them seems kind of crazy…. But would just be my luck as of late😆😫
And this is the only vid that simply explains how to test w/o software…. You’ve probably helped thousands of severely frustrated Bobcat owners who aren’t driving around with the kind of money it would cost just to get a diagnosis, let alone fixed… again, thank you!!
Also, to test each injector individually, can you “cap”(1/8” tube w plug) to test each one? Will that cause any unwanted damage to any of the injectors?
So you say you don’t need to program the injectors immediately but it won’t work at peak performance. So once the problem is solved with new injectors is the next step to get them programmed by someone with the software?
Hi! I have a Bobcat 5600 4x4, diesel and it doesn't start since a day ago. When I wanted to start it yesterday the engine struggled a bit and then it died. The lights are working and those also on the dashboard, so the battery I assume it's good. Now, when I use the key there is a click and then nothing. Have no idea where to start looking, since I never had any issues with it before. Any ideas?

How long did you crank to get the 4" of fuel? Can you send me a picture of the tubes after 5 seconds of cranking? bobcatissues@gmail.com
And just kind of wanting to know what else I can test myself before I go buying 4 injectors and then it still won’t work..👍🏻
Also, to test each injector individually, can you “cap”(1/8” tube w plug) to test each one? Will that cause any unwanted damage to any of the injectors?
So you say you don’t need to program the injectors immediately but it won’t work at peak performance. So once the problem is solved with new injectors is the next step to get them programmed by someone with the software?
That's correct, the sooner the better.
What about if the 4injectors are leaking...
All the injectors will have some leakage. Any injector leaking more than six inches in the ⅛" tube after 5 seconds of cranking is deamed bad.
Any ideas?
Don't assume the battery is good. Start bt checking battery and connections at the battery. Clean terminals and make sure they are tight
@@tetradgroupThank you for your swift reply! I did that and I also tried to jump start it, but no luck...the starter could be broken...
You are the best
How about you come and fix this for me. I'm in cottage Grove Wisconsin.
