The loss of the Piccadilly line is annoying, but this more than makes up for it. Never thought I’d see MSG from a real time point of view. Thanks dale. Keep up the videos. When you get back
Thanks Dale, for the interesting video. Miss you on the Piccadilly line, I just got my tube map so I could follow the route. Safe travels. See you soon!
Thanks for the Video! Like many here, I miss you on the Pic, but when one door closes another opens. Great video Dale! Will continue enjoying your content ! ❤
Another excellent video. It was great to see the train journey in the US. The seats looked nice and comfortable but the ride seemed a bit bumpy so it was quite similar to the old HST Mark 3 coaches over here in the UK!
Thank you, Dale - this was a very interesting introduction (for me) to American railways - in some ways, it makes travelling by rail in the UK look pretty good in comparison, though, of course, that varies from operator to operator, as I imagine it will in the USA. Certainly, I found the New York subway isn't quite as good as London Underground, but perhaps I'm a touch biased, and I don't wish to be unduly critical of the subway as it, too, is a pretty efficient mass transit system - at least in my experience. Oh, and I love the irony of forgetting what you did with the memory card! 😂 Thanks again, Dale, and take care.
There are things on the subway that for me are better than the tube. The plastic seating I find more comfortable than on our trains. Plus easier to keep clean.
Nice to see all the different modes of travel you show us Dale, and good to rattle throigh all the famous places, l got very hungry at the cheeseburger bit! Amtrack is so famous, the seats looked and nice and big and comfy.
My neck of the woods, awesome to have you on this side of the pond, Dale. Really is a pity you can’t do Picc vids anymore, but love these just as much! You’ve been to Monyihan before I have (it didn’t really open to much fanfare, seeing as it’s basically a Penn Station extension that doesn’t even connect all the tracks) keep exploring! Hope all is well with you and yours as well
Awesome video Dale. I am an Amtrak fan and frequent user from Boston to NYC sometimes to Philadelphia on the Northeast corridor. The second last coach class is the quiet car where I usually sit so I can relax or work. Glad you showed business class I see not much difference but good to know. As for Penn station yeah it was the pits & looked gutted hated going there until 2020 they open Moynihan Trail Hall and was very impressed, liked it. Wish the new Acela trains were running so you can give a good review and insight (at times I take Acela) but issues arise hopefully they say will be ready in early 2025 they stated. Looking forward to your Acela trip back to NYC. Kudos !
Nice video Dale I've never travelled on amtrack so i found this very interesting looking forward to the next trip back to NYC, hope you had a good time on the American railroad and thanks for covering this very interesting part of your trip, all the best mate Mark D.
Thanks for the insight - good to see the new NY station. Was wondering why you’d taken the Regional, but then you answered that by saying you were taking the Acela back. 👍
Nice video Dale, glad to see you doing a bit better. Don't worry about losing the memory card! I lost the sim card to my second line a couple weeks ago for over a week
We did the exact same trip on Amtrak in 1987. Everything seemed to be superior to what you had. The windows were massive, and there was a strip running along the luggage rack so if you wanted a nap you put your ticket in the strip and the inspector didn't need to wake you. Far less security then.
I thought that they were reversible seats and was surprised to see you travel backwards, in Japan i witnessed the crew swing the seat around so whatever way you are traveling you face forward
1985 the 18 yr old me did BUNAC. I got off a plane that had diverted to Gander for refuelling and spent the night in the W34th St. Y. When I looked out the window in the morning the first things I saw were The Garden and Penn station. I thought it was funny because Madison Sq Garden was round. Not square at all.
Hey Dale, thanks for showing the new Moynihan train hall which has opened since I left NYC in 2020. I'd been wanting a closer look. Seems much nicer than the NY Penn part of the station (at least as it was before the refurb).
@@dalecharmantravels8057 Yeh, the platforms are basically still the Penn platforms that always ran under the old post office. If you walk along some of them, you can come back up into Penn station below MSG.
I don’t think there will be any new underground ones ( from the cab). I do plan on doing some filming from the public spaces when I get chance to get down to London
You travelled in Budd cars/coaches which l believe date from the mid 1970s Not known for giving a good ride! Being replaced by Siemans cars which are more European looking.
@@BenTaylor. They were allowed up until 2 weeks ago. Management are being questioned as to why a sudden change of heart and being made to justify their actions
Travelled by Amtrak on these cars in 1990s - seats were slightly different but otherwise no changes - the ride was not great then because the tracks were poorly maintained and it was expensive for the Philadelphia-New York Penn return. The Amfleet cars look like they were designed to mimic an aeroplane - small windows and not a lot of space. $11 for a burger is ridiculous...

I hope to be able to do more of these types of videos in the future
Those videos will be back soon, believe you me
@keithjones9054 how are you predicting that?🤔

Great video. Thank you Dale. Good to see you travelling by rail. Keep up the good work and enjoy your holidays. Looking forward to your next video.

Great video Dale. You always show us the important bits! Best wishes. Looking forward to the next one.
Best travel vlog so far, Dale. Your editing, camera work and screen confidence is improving every time. Really enjoyed this. Cheers, Dale.
Thank you. I hope the improvements will continue

They were nice seats. It could do with an upgrade but still not a bad trip
Amazing video of US Train ! 👍

Thanks Mark. I did enjoy my trip down to DC. I look forward to doing the Amtrak overnight trains at some point
Absolutely amazing video a shame about the windows size glad you are enjoying the trip
Great video dale
Thanks Dale, very interesting as usual. 😊
Thanks for the insight - good to see the new NY station. Was wondering why you’d taken the Regional, but then you answered that by saying you were taking the Acela back. 👍
Originally I booked megabus down to Washington. However they ceased running so I decided to take the train
Piccadilly it ain't but this is great, Dale! 🙂
Amazing video of the Amtrak train. Dale . I hope you had a nice trip on the Amtrak
I did thank you
Good one once again Dale, 😁
Nice video Dale, glad to see you doing a bit better.
Don't worry about losing the memory card! I lost the sim card to my second line a couple weeks ago for over a week
I am for ever losing memory cards 🤣🤣. I have so many. Being small though they are easily lost

Love your travel videos but miss your train videos from London.
Good trip , damn that track could do with some fettling . Nice big kharzi if required , shame about the windows . Enjoy your roam around Washington.
Great video

I was shocked at how pleasant it was. Or at least until you head down to the platforms
@@dalecharmantravels8057 Yeh, the platforms are basically still the Penn platforms that always ran under the old post office. If you walk along some of them, you can come back up into Penn station below MSG.
Interesting, great to see NY. Train looks much better than the voyagers
Nice vid, Dale. Was the microwave cheeseburger as greasy as it looked? 😆
Do you ever compare the train operations when in USA? Try and understand the signals etc?
Amtrak has definitely gotten better recently. Their trains were pretty dated. The stations are even nicer now.
Fascinating video. Do you pay any attention to driving style when you're a passenger?
When I am on the pic line as a passenger I do. Otherwise no. I assume they know better than me 🤣
Love the video!
That mic quality skyrocketed, sounds really really good now
It’s trial and error to get the sound right. Hope it’s sorted for the future
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
brilliant video dale will we see any underground videos or is it a defo no or is it a yes but on a different line
I don’t think there will be any new underground ones ( from the cab). I do plan on doing some filming from the public spaces when I get chance to get down to London

OK dale can you do a wicker world. You be good at that
I've been on the amtrak. Very different to London underground
Nice
Please tell me dc metro content is coming 🙏
do u plan on riding the nyc subway like the a trains b trains?
I did do a short video on the NYC subway ( how to get from manhattan to jfk via the subway). I have not looked at the footage yet

Why you do have to stop the Piccadilly line video? 😢😢 So hope you enjoyed your trip
his bosses i reckon
tube drivers are not allowed to have any electronic equipment in the cab
@@BenTaylor. Oh ok and hello Ben Taylor I watch your vid as well
@@BenTaylor. They were allowed up until 2 weeks ago. Management are being questioned as to why a sudden change of heart and being made to justify their actions
I have not personally been given a reason. Just we have all been told no more filming
Half of a dirty window. Business class? They can keep it!
Definitely not worth it. The coach class looked good enough
Anything is better than the bacon roll on LNER except for the two crumpets....
Very rattly train - sounded like a flat spot on the wheels in the buffet car 😂😂
Some one put flats on the train. At least it wasn’t me 🤣🤣
Dale: "It's old but who cares"! Then goes home and drives trains built in 1973 !
Travelled by Amtrak on these cars in 1990s - seats were slightly different but otherwise no changes - the ride was not great then because the tracks were poorly maintained and it was expensive for the Philadelphia-New York Penn return. That was a burger and a can of Coke 🤣🤣. Planes and trains are always expensive
That one coach you walked through had a lovely flat. lol. Looked ok seating wise, not as comfy as our Mk. 4's though. Good one Dale, all the best.
I did notice what sounded like flats 🤣🤣
On an empty vehicle like that train you can take a better seat.
