I'm a single guy so I have the problem that every recipe I cook ends up being for 4 people or more so I have to freeze a lot. It's a great way to cook food ahead of time and then eat it when you want it.
Same here! I have no freezer (oh well, as big as one of these lasagna plates.. Legitimately. It's my landlord's fridge, not mine!) so I tend to divide everything by two. I just moved out on my own tough. Guess who had to eat the same dish every single night for four days? So yea... Dividing everything makes it okay.
Morgan Ash I started that too! We can now have $300 last 2 months for 3 adults. We do a big grocery trip once and then go back to get milk and veggies that don’t last as long.
Same here! It was just for 2 people! I feel so guilty when something gets lost in the fridge or something comes up at the last minute and my meal schedule goes awry and a package of sausage or something goes bad because I didn't get to throw it in the freezer. Or I had another celery perish in the drawer. It's a reminder I take to heart. I did finally get an upright freezer for the garage and it's been a game changer. But everyone once in a while... something falls through the cracks.
Homeschooling family here thankful things aren’t as drastic a change for us. in earnest prayer for all the families around the world stressing about school this year. Sending love and hugs. 💕🙏🏼
Hey Christine! Awesome video! Absolutely loved and enjoyed it! 😊😊🙏🙏🙏🥰💐💐💐 This video moved me at a whole different level... when you took out the food you had in the fridge, even the little salsa... I have the highest respect for you. If all Americans were like you, so mindful and considerate to use literally every little bit of the food they had bought, there would have been zero food waste in this country. There would be no shortage and hunger. God bless you and your family! It is not just about money. It is the virtue of not wasting any food. 🥰🥰🥰🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏👍👍👍🙏🙏🙏🙏
i swear, ever since i started watching your videos, i have saved so much food. i used to throw out leftovers after three days so we wasted a ton! which is terrible. lately, if i cook something that i know we won’t finish, i’ll just go ahead and freeze half and honestly it’s the best! not to mention, we’re a week away from having a baby, so now i have a well stocked freezer 🙌🏻🎉 also, i live in georgia and my mom is a high school teacher. the teachers go back this wednesday but they still haven’t decided what to do about the students. so you can imagine their frustration at this point.
Yasss the tape you have to hook up to your disk man 😂 and nothing worse than a skipping cd 💿 well besides it skipping when I am in the middle of singing 🎤 my heart out😂
I use cottage cheese in my homemade Mac and cheese. One pd of elbow noodles One 8oz bag of shredded cheese (whatever favor you like.) One small container of cottage cheese. Mix it all together and put in oven 350 till shredded cheese is melted.
My family totally skipped the 8-track phase, LOL. We stuck to albums (real ones: 78s, 33 and the Thirds, and 45s) until cassette tape players came out!
Oh yes, I remember the record players. My 1st albums I bought were Brenda Lee’s “Comin on Strong” (I think???), (it was the 60’s) & Magic Bus by The Who. Then in the 70’s, they came out with 8 track tapes. Wow, we didn’t think they could improve technology any more! ....and now look how far we’ve come!😂😉😂
One of the reasons I like your channel is that you all like exercise and your family works so well together. It's really nice to see such wholesomeness.
I’ve never been more happy to be child free in my life during these crazy times. I couldn’t imagine having to deal with my work (I’m a med lab technologist in a hospital so obviously I’m still working and essential) and figure out what to do with kids who can’t go to school.
I taught summer school in person and it was great!! Unfortunately, our Gov in CA forced us into distance learning.... I cried all weekend after his announcement! Teaching needs to happen in person!!!
That's interesting, I've always done it with béchamel sauce, and never questionned it because my mother used to do it this way too... Isn't it too creamy with cheese ?
We are located in upstate NY and we normally don’t go back to school until the Tuesday or Wednesday afternoon Labor Day. So far, our district has not said what our school will look like. Based on everything I have read and watched I have decided to homeschool this year. We will take it one year at a time. This school year I have a fourth and second graders. I also have a 3 year old and 5 month baby. My family and I need prayers for this new journey.
I love the fact that you don't waste any food! My mother grew up during the depression and every little bit of food was saved and made into something else. You are way too young to be a depression baby but you have the same values. I love watching you and your family.
Other than we simmer the sauce for a lot longer. This is exactly how we make our lasagna. Raw noodles and all. So good. People always think I’m crazy when I tell them my family doesn’t cook them first. It sets up soo much better
We are a homeschooling family....our 10th year, so I am not doing anything different but helping support friends who are homeschooling for the 1st time this year.
Hey girl hey I absolutely love your constancy thank you for posting around the same time and close to every day I honestly do watch all videos with the intent of doing something you post my favorite are affordable hauls and the actual activities xoxo have a great day I tell all my friends about this channel hope you get to a million!!!
I totally know about cds and tape adapters. Funny story, my 20 year old nephew (I’m 34) was saying how much he loves this song we were listening to last night (waiting for the hurricane to hit Kaua’i... unfortunately, it didn’t). I then go to tell him, the whole tape was good. My husband, who is 41, tells me I surprised you know what a tape is 🤣 As for Hawai’i, most schools are going back August 3rd or 4th. My kids go to a Hawaiian Immersion Charter school and they moved their start date to August 24th. I am fortunate to be able to work at home as long as my work gets done. Truly blessed!
I seriously want to be Hailey when I grow up. She is so happy go lucky and just an absolute joy. BTW I'm over 40 so I should be growing up anytime now. "Fingers Crossed"
Good morning! I’m in Minnesota and our governor is announcing on Thursday what plan (out of 3) schools will be doing. I’m expecting a hybrid: half in-person, half distance learning. My feelings are that my kids NEED to go back to school. Distance learning doesn’t work for us. I am lucky to be able to work from home but it’s tough to work and make sure they are doing their school work. I’m not a fan of making lasagna either but I’ve done a stovetop lasagna where I just break up the noodles and add them to the meat/sauce/ricotta mixture. Love your humor by the way! ❤️
I totally remember those days with the CD player and adapter!! Lol!! We are in Texas. We have been homeschooling for 3 years. I am so GRATEFUL that we can continue and I know it’s a blessing that I can stay home. I know a lot of people don’t have this option. It’s so complicated!
I’m in Victoria Australia, we are in a lockdown at the moment. Only essentials, grocery shopping, exercise with a mask, doctor appt, and work or work from home. Care giving too is allowed. No visitors allowed. Our numbers aren’t high but our government is very committed to keeping the virus suppressed. Only year 11 and 12 are at school. The rest of school is online. Keep up the good work Christine. Your bubbly personality is a tonic.
I still have my hifi with turn table, cassette and cd player included, my cassette Walkman and my disc man and they all still work, I have a child with disabilities and hate the words special needs, I prefer additional needs. I'm in the uk so our schools dont go back until September, that all depends on the virus though.
I'm 26 but I definitely remember having a disk man cassette adapter for our family car. That car then later became "my" car when I was in high school and through college, so I still had to use a cassette adapter but I moved up to using a cassette adapter with an auxiliary cord so I could plug it into my phone and play music that way!
I live in the 3 ring of hell otherwise known as central Florida, the next couple months will reach magma core temps and potential catastrophic hurricanes. As of now our schools are slated to open we will be distance learning, so thankful I dont have to choose between my livelihood and lives.
I'm an American living in New Delhi. The school year here starts in April with a summer break in May/June. My daughter has been doing online classes all year so far with no talk of re-opening anytime soon. She thankfully enjoys it.
My husband’s first purchase with his very first paycheck after finishing college was an 8-track stereo system! The speakers are 3 feet tall!! YES, we still have it as it’s the one thing he refuses to get rid of from his bachelor days.🤣🤣🤣 The funniest part is that it STILL WORKS and occasionally we’ll hear the stains of Eddie Rabbits “I Love A Rainy Night” coming from the man cave🤣🤣🤣
Omg my Alexa shuffled new found glory but I didn't recognize the one that played. (probably because I'm a hippie- boomer) funny video😅 and I use cottage cheese and have been sprayed by popping the top seal off 🤣. I home schooled 30 years ago. Best days of my life and my son actually got a better education. Most were wasted hours in lines when he was in kindergarten and 1st grade before I pulled him out from realizing the teacher's aide was doing most of the teaching. A teacher girlfriend of mine at the time said I could do it AND she said she had to "unlearn" what she did as a regular teacher to do homeschooling when I told her I wasn't a teacher! 🙄😳
Please don't judge all of us public school teachers by one bad experience. We're people with faults like everyone else. You are fortunate that you were able to teach your child yourself. One to one is the ideal but not a practical reality.
@@pattyk101 I didn't judge all teachers. I have a cousin who is an excellent teacher and cares for her children. I even have my best friend who used to be a teacher's aide that got all of the work dumped on her by a bad lazy teacher. My point was that these parents who are now panicking about having to teach their children at home shouldn't be worried about not being able to do it, especially the younger elementary years. I got help with the more advanced program because I'm a nurse, not a school teacher (although I DID a lot of patient education in my 42 years being a nurse)
Love the disc man reference!! So many kids who don't understand the tough life of the CD skipping. We are in VA and chose virtual learning 4 days a week for 4 hours and then one day of learning on our own. Then the district decide to go all virtual for at least the first quarter. The other option was a hybrid with 2 days in school and 3 days learning on your own at home. Tough time for all areas.
I wonder if cottage cheese is different in the UK, I can’t imagine it being subbed for ricotta! I quite like it on a cracker or something but I’d have to try blending it to see if the dry rubbery bits smooth out like hers does!
For lasagna I always make lasagna rolls. You do need the classes noddles not no boil. Just roll up individual noddles filled with all the cooked meat mix and cheese mix. Then freeze them on a sheet pan not touching. Once frozen transfer to storage freezer bag. Then when you want lasagna pull out the amount of rolls you want. Pour sauce over them and cook for 30-40sh min. Usually my husband and I will each eat one or two rolls and my kids who are still younger will eat just one each or share. I will usually make a lot at once. One box of noddles will usually make 2-3 dinners for us. We also like this way because you can change up the sauce. Some times bake in white sauce. Yum!
Belgium here, at the moment the second wave starts hitting my Province (Antwerpen) but school should start for the smaller kids (minus 12) september first, secondary school should start as well but only 3 days a week. We are now very close to a new Lockdown, Having to wear masks everywhere. Numbers are climbing alarmingly daily. That lasagna looks awesome
I'm in Maryland, our kids are 100% virtual until January. Each county is doing its own thing. I'm lucky that 1) I can work virtually, 2) my kids are still in elementary school (and therefore I can help them still), and 3) we don't have any specific needs.
I’m from a Brisbane but do feel things will change for the worse. This is far from over but I have always been well stocked and things haven’t changed but am buying more stable shelf things, storing, properly, not getting caught out worse thing that can happen is we will have to eat it all eventually lol!
I live in South Africa, our kids school years go from Jan to December for the year. Our kids have been back to school on and off for the last 2 months, they open the school then a kid will get sick and then they close the school for a few days to sanitize and then the kids come back to school and then it starts all over again. my daughter is personally homeschooled but I have doing that since last year. I'm working from home at the moment. I like homeschooling, it gives me piece of mind when it comes to her health.
Younger people missed out on the fun on CDs jumping, answering a real phone and not being able to walk out of the room the phone was is. Video recorders chewing up the film as you get to the good bit. I feel so bad for them lol Im in the UK dont have kids but I was a lock in before the covid mess cuz well I dont like people, I did get covid back in feb/march but on the whole cuz Im a prepper I havent really been effected ecept getting sick and still dealing with lung issues from that.
In North Carolina and my husband is a retired teacher who has gone back to work a dozen times. His current school will be all on-line for the first nine weeks, but teachers wil be teaching from the school building while social distancing in their own rooms. Teachers started back today. All three of our grandchildren will be online for the first nine weeks also and they live in different parts of the state.
I live in New South Wales a state in Australia, which is about 10% of Australia, 4 times the size of the UK & slightly bigger than Texas in the US. I'm in North-west Sydney & we are pretty much untouched by covid where I am though we have had a flare-up of late in South-west Sydney, when churches re-opened. Kids are back to school as normal. Things are pretty much back to pre-covid despite approx. 2% of the population wearing masks, except in Victoria (another state of Oz) where masks are mandatory in certain areas due to a new wave of cases. From what I see & hear about the US & UK, it's hard to know what to do with your kids schooling, Good luck everyone figuring it out.
That's the same here in Canada. Every place has made their own rules as far as going back to school. No decision in our town at all yet but in all honesty I can't see my 6 year old granddaughter sitting in class with a mask on all day (or any child for that matter), and I don't see the masks going away any time soon.
Alberta has made a decision and it sucks. Teachers are expected to do it all with no extra help or PPE and no cap size on classes or masks. When asked our premier of Alberta that teachers should be expected to"tidy" just like someone in any other job. Its been an interesting couple weeks for parents and teachers.
We home school our children and I am so grateful for that especially at this time. The school district we live in, will be having school full time with children and teachers wearing mask all day.
We are facing online learning here in Los Angeles again. Hubby is a middle school teacher who will be working from home teaching his students while I, at SAHM, will be helping out my 3 school age kids and a 4 year old. It's an adjustment for sure but we managed to do it in the spring so we can do it again. Love your channel Christine!
I don't have kids, but my husband is a substitute teacher. I live in Southern Illinois and all of the school districts have a different plan. The school district we live in is offering a choice of fully virtual or face to face. For the face to face, students will be going 2 days per week (some will be Monday and Wednesday and others will be Tuesday/Thursday. Fridays are all virtual.
I bet you could do sopapillas in the air fryer- cut the tortillas into chip-sized pieces, spray the pieces with cooking spray, pop them in the airfryer, sprinkle them with cinnamon sugar and serve with honey and whipped cream (I have not tested this, it's just a theory).
Next time you have pepper jack cheese leftover: Jack Ranch Wraps. Brown some burger, drain, sprinkle some brown sugar in, melt in pepper jack cheese, spread ranch on tortilla and top with burger cheese mixture. Super easy to make and delicious. Made it up after I had leftover pepper jack. You can add in jalapenos, that sounds like it would be good. Also thank you for the air fryer tip. I made breakfast burritos for the freezer and they were a little watery. They were good but that wasn't pleasant. I imagine we wouldn't have that problem in the air fryer!
Oh yes, that's how my Dad would play music on road trips. When everyone else was sleeping, I got the cassette powered discman and headphones to listen to as Dad drove. America, Eagles Greatest Hits Live, Men At Work.... good times!
I’m in Iowa and we’ve homeschooled for the last 6 years so it’s no big difference for us OTHER THAN OUR SOCIAL LIVES 😜 our normal activities are cancelled for now 😭 And I totes relate to the discman on the seat 🙌🏼 our 5Below still has the tape adapter for sale 😂 my husband was liked “Who still needs that?!”....
Totally had a disc man in my 1989 Dodge Aries K car!!! ✌ Yesterday my baby (he is almost 18, and will be a senior) made a HUGE batch of breakfast burritos for the freezer! We put tator tots that we cook and chop up with our mix-n-chop. Good protein full breakfast for after weightlifting and football practice. He WILL be going back to school all day!!
I am in Arkansas. Originally, the first day of public school was supposed to be August 13, but the governor changed it to August 27. Students have the choice to do online learning or onsite learning. I have homeschooled my twin daughters for seven years. They are special needs, and they get speech services at the school. I don't really know how that will work with them. Masks are required in Arkansas now. Yeeppee! I do all shopping online and the grocery curbside pick up. Actually, one of my daughters has an orthodontist appointment today. She has Invisalign so we are able to get her next set of trays at the curbside. Such a blessing!
Yes the CD with adapter and either the CD visor organizer (that was way too full) or the tiny binder. Being able to just get any music you want in the car now seems bananas.
We live in Texas.Kids start school online in September.Parents have option of doing online or face to face in October.I work in healthcare and half of my hospitals are full of(work for 2 different hospitals in our medical center) Covid patients. We will choose online for our kiddos. Love breakfast tacos.I like to make batches of waffles, pancakes, breakfast sandwhiches(with your biscuit recipe!😉)and breakfast tacos.
I have 2 high schoolers and our schools are doing zoom full time this school year. The kids are very much depressed about it and wanted to go back to school. Shelves at the stores are slowly dwindling again. We are in DE and I anticipate a full shutdown this upcoming fall. Great video, I hope you and your family stay safe and keep making those sweet treats because they boost morale.
I'm in California and my daughter will be going to school cause I cannot afford to stay out of work as a single mom. I'm bless I get to have access to get food with food stamps, the schools offer free summer meals once a week, but I'm so exhausted I need a mommy break once my daughter goes back to school. Lasgana is great I've done it in the Crock-Pot many times it's amazing 👍😍
I absolutely remember the discman with the adapter. It was always the passengers job to hold it just right so it didn't skip on bumps. Also, if it's something I like to eat but don't enjoy making, I do the same thing. I make a ton when I'm making it and then freeze.
We just cleaned out our fridge of all the little dibs and dabs of stuff that accumulates for some unknown reason...partial bags if shredded cheese half a container of sour cream and partial boxes of pasta equal homemade mac and cheese/ a pound of cooked ground beef and 47 partial bags(not really but you know what i mean) of frozen veggies equals vegetable beef soup...my fridge looks kinda empty now but i am glad none of that food was wasted We are soon to be empty nesters (3 kids all grown up and gone or about to go)so i am going to have to really switch up my cooking game when it is just hubby and i so that i am not tossing food in the trash...thanks for sharing your ideas...love your videos!!!
We love cottage cheese in our lasagna! We have been homeschooling for many years now, so no change for us academically. It's just been hard because our co-op is closed and all of our typical activities and field trips aren't happening. Some of our districts are choosing to open, while others are choosing to only offer online learning.
Oh yeah, I remember the cd player adapter situation! I remember I got my car broken into the day before homecoming, and whoever did it stole my Bulldogs mascot but left my CD player! I'm in Kansas and still working from home for the foreseeable future. They're talking about rolling back our reopening plan because our cases are rising. As far as schools reopening, each county is coming up with their own plan last I heard. In my area, they're still talking about in-person classes mid-September, but I think that's going to get pushed back. Your videos are such a nice break from all the stress. Thank you for staying positive!
From Springfield MO. We have choice of all virtual or 2 days face to face with one day of virtual class room and two days computer modules. For the high school kids who choose F/F A-L go Monday and Tuesday F/F, rest of alphabet F/F Thursday, Friday. No one at school on Wed so can deep clean!
Hey Christine, Love your vids! We live in Melbourne, Australia. We're in lockdown and the kids have just gone back to study from home (highschool - week 2). The kids probably learn more effectively at school. Thankful to be working from home and we all are healthy. Can be overwhelming at times, but we are thankful for our health and health system. My dad lives near Boston and what's happening in parts of the States looks intense! Stay happy and healthy!
YES! I remember the cassette adaptor, but the adaptor for my car had an aux cable handing out so that I could plug in my phone. I don't have kids, but my district (Los Angeles USD) is 100% virtual. I'm trying to see what my work schedule is going to look like this fall and I might be volunteering to help supplement the teaching for some of the kids in my neighborhood.
I had those big tape decks in my car and I had a bunch of Alabama and Credence Clearwater music! Before those were created we just had radios! I'm so proud of our school district they offer two options: online or in school. Thanks & Blessings ~Sidney P.S. If you melt the peanut butter just a tad it's easier to mix.
Years ago my kids really really want d lasagna for dinner and I was feeling extra "efficient" that day so I literally tossed all of the lasagna ingredients into a pan and cooked it all up (shredded cheese included) and then pour the melted goodness on top of cooked rigatoni (then mix well) and bam, lazy lasagna was born. Have never gone back to the traditional layered version. My entire family (and extended family) love it. You should try it. So easy and so yummy. I now make "lazy lasagna" a couple times a month vs a couple times a year previously because I hated the process so much. I hope you try it. Good luck! P.S. Try using command hooks to hang your stockings. Will not ruin your beautifully painted walls.
If you have anything like rice or eggs or fried potatoes that you want to portion out, use a jumbo muffin scoop or a soup ladle- gives you more consistent portions and fewer annoying little spoonfuls.
I'm in Vegas where everything is on fire..from the heat and the virus. My kids are grown but from what I hear the kids will be learning at home for awhile.
I live in Northern California in a tiny county town. I work at our local high school. We were going to go back with a hybrid model where the kids only come once a week and home the rest. My youngest is starting high school this year. Anyway we were all set with our model and then our governor said if your county is on the watch list you have to start with distance learning with no students on campus. We are on the watch list. Staff will be on campus but the kids will be home. Love your videos.
I make frozen breakfast burritos all the time. I started put the folded side down in a baking sheet that has a silicone mat on it then freeze it, then put them in bags. Save more patchment paper! I gotta try air fryer those!!!
We live in the Dallas area and our kids aren’t starting back in person till mid September, but online learning starts in August. I’m actually homeschooling my two younger ones who are both in the fifth grade but my high schooler will go back when he can. He’s really missing school and friends. I’m also confident that he is old enough to practice safe protocols.
I always have a few lasagna noodles left. I put them in a plastic bag and eventually I have saved enough for a lasagna. We love lasagna. Just the two of us so I freeze most of a lasagna and thaw for a quick homemade dinner during the summer when I refuse to turn the oven on (too hot). Yep - cassettes were a thing. Arizona keeps changing its mind about when and how schools will be. Last I heard was mid August. Still a hot spot so I am guessing it will be moved to a later date. I am hoping for in school learning for the sake of the kids and parents. Supposedly kids do not get deathly ill from the virus. My first in store shopping trip tomorrow since February. I am really over this. Love you and the video. Have a wonderful week.
My son has special needs but we're so lucky that all kids that are speciel needs got a chance to go to school or what they do. We live in Denmark and they have now opened to all the small classes. The rest have school online
I'm loving the camera-in-the-fridge angle! Thanks for the tip about the air fryer. The worst part of the frozen breakfast burritos is the icky microwaved tortilla.
I’m a teacher in Buffalo area, NY. NYs rates are very low right now. I anticipate going back to school, as well as my children. We will know in a week or two what this will look like. I also remember the cassette player adapters.
Hi Christine. I love the fact that you have your whole family helping you make these meals.. I live in New York and life here is back to normal..or I would say the NEW normal. Our cases are low now (fingers crossed)..We are very careful though...Our school district are planning to open this fall. They are planning to assign kids in pods.. some districts are also cut down the time. I my self go to college and the classes that I signed up were all online. I hope you and your family are safe. Love and Prayers from NY!!!
Mmm chocolate chips. Last night I made pumpkin chocolate chip muffins. My new favorite. I used home made roasted pumpkin. None of that canned muck. For dinner I made individual chicken pesto pizzas using up remnants in my fridge.
I’m in central Indiana. As of today, kids around here are starting on time and going to the classrooms. My son is in college and all his classes are online. I have lasagna planned for this week. I bought noodles only to find enough leftover in the cupboard.
The district just north of us has pushed back school starting until, at least, after Labor Day. we are starting in a few weeks (so far). Our district is super rural and doesn't have virtual capabilities for most... so we have face-to-face and then if people choose distance learning, they get a weekly packet. or you can home school. It's all very stressful, thanks for the great videos, as always!
Oh the memories of having my CD’s skipping brings me back to my Volkswagen bug. It was a 6 Disc changer. Also as for the school situation, I’m in Arizona. We have 2 youngsters (5 and our 3 yr old is special needs). It is very difficult because they want to do distance learning and that is not going to happen. Husband and I both work full time (I from home and he goes to the office).
We make kale mock lasagna. I had kale, but one only ever had 1 recipe we used it for, so I just did a google search and it came up. We made it up thinking hubs and I would eat it and the kids would eat something else, but when he went in for seconds, the pan was completely empty. The kids loved it. We have 1 child that has alot of food sensitivities, so she even uses her almond cheese, and her own 8x8 pan full. We now make that regularly, and not regular lasagna.
I live in southern Virginia. The plan was for the kids to go to school 2 days a week on a staggered schedule Monday/ Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday) with virtual learning the other 3. But that plan changed just this week to all virtual learning. The cases have started to rise quickly in my area in the last month.
I'm a single guy so I have the problem that every recipe I cook ends up being for 4 people or more so I have to freeze a lot. It's a great way to cook food ahead of time and then eat it when you want it.

Same here my sister is vegan so she doesn’t eat anything I make
I always find sealed sour cream by the multiple in my fridge, I swear they procreate back there....😳
😂😂😂😂
Yes!! And the way my mind works,, always grabbing when on sale😭😂😂
Ha! Same!!!😂✌️💕🇨🇦
Ah, buttermilk for me. Always a couple of pots 😂
Same!
Christine: ”I suck at wrapping breakfast burritos”
Me: You probably overfill them.
Christine: ”I usually overfill them”
Me: Told ya! 😂
having opened boxes of unused lasagna in the house is a normal part of life
Exactly! Just like the bag of bags under the sink or in the pantry. It means your house is a home ahaha.
I started to slightly overlap the noodles to use the entire box each time I make it. I hated having 2 or 3 extra!
living is haveing leftover pastas!
For us its always spaghetti noodles haha
My food waste was so staggering... we started planning based on what we have and our food budget has gone down! Thank you for the inspiration!
Such a good way to save money! :)
Morgan Ash I started that too! We can now have $300 last 2 months for 3 adults. We do a big grocery trip once and then go back to get milk and veggies that don’t last as long.

Oh yeah I had the cassette adapter. I also had the very large binder full of CDs from BMG music club.
What's crazy is that I KEPT MINE and now Hailey uses it for her CD player in her car! LOL!
BMG music club....what?! Haven't heard that in a long time.
@@itstime3976 BMG music Club! Where most of us got our first taste of bad credit.

i swear, ever since i started watching your videos, i have saved so much food. i used to throw out leftovers after three days so we wasted a ton! which is terrible. lately, if i cook something that i know we won’t finish, i’ll just go ahead and freeze half and honestly it’s the best! not to mention, we’re a week away from having a baby, so now i have a well stocked freezer 🙌🏻🎉
also, i live in georgia and my mom is a high school teacher. the teachers go back this wednesday but they still haven’t decided what to do about the students. so you can imagine their frustration at this point.
Yasss the tape you have to hook up to your disk man 😂 and nothing worse than a skipping cd 💿 well besides it skipping when I am in the middle of singing 🎤 my heart out😂
Omg I saw New Found Glory lives years ago in the UK. They were the opening act to Paramore 😊
I use cottage cheese in my homemade Mac and cheese. One pd of elbow noodles One 8oz bag of shredded cheese (whatever favor you like.) One small container of cottage cheese. Mix it all together and put in oven 350 till shredded cheese is melted.
Great simple recipe for mac & cheese. Thank you!!!
@@BlueJaybeeBird Thank you
I can't wait to try this, thanks!
Im in South Australia and thankfully we currently have no active COVID cases and schools have been open for ages.
Me too! Praying we don't turn into Victoria though, it's scary over there!
I'm in N.S.W and praying we don't turn into Vic as well. On a tightrope!
I'm in WA and grateful for how much better the situation is here than in Vic and other parts of the world
Hello fellow South Aussie
I’m “8 track tape” old. Also “a radio was an upgrade when you bought a car” old. 😉
Wow, we didn’t think they could improve technology any more! ....and now look how far we’ve come!😂😉😂
I’m “I got the cassettes when my dad or brother upgraded to the CD version” years old.
One of the reasons I like your channel is that you all like exercise and your family works so well together. It's really nice to see such wholesomeness.
I was a kid then, but I totally remember the cassette attachment. Man I loved my little personal CD player, it was awesome 😁
You could also make baked ziti instead of the lasagna
I’ve never been more happy to be child free in my life during these crazy times. I couldn’t imagine having to deal with my work (I’m a med lab technologist in a hospital so obviously I’m still working and essential) and figure out what to do with kids who can’t go to school.
I taught summer school in person and it was great!! Unfortunately, our Gov in CA forced us into distance learning.... I cried all weekend after his announcement! Teaching needs to happen in person!!!
With my husband's teaching background, he really feels the same!
When you showed the cottage cheese I immediately thought lasagna. I always use cottage cheese and personally dont like ricotta. Great video!!!
That’s how my mom makes it and I love it
I agree cottage cheese is better than ricotta.
That's interesting, I've always done it with béchamel sauce, and never questionned it because my mother used to do it this way too... Isn't it too creamy with cheese ?
@@onthecomet2802 Can never have too much cheese, well at least in my family. I use cottage cheese. Cream cheese, egg and herbs in my mixture.
I don't like ricotta or cottage cheese and always use cream cheese 🤔
We are located in upstate NY and we normally don’t go back to school until the Tuesday or Wednesday afternoon Labor Day. So far, our district has not said what our school will look like. Based on everything I have read and watched I have decided to homeschool this year. We will take it one year at a time. This school year I have a fourth and second graders. I also have a 3 year old and 5 month baby. My family and I need prayers for this new journey.
I saw a tip once that you could spray the meat chopper with nonstick spray to keep meat from sticking to it :)
I love the fact that you don't waste any food! My mother grew up during the depression and every little bit of food was saved and made into something else. You are way too young to be a depression baby but you have the same values. I love watching you and your family.
Oh man, the sheer amount of batteries I went through to play the discman in the car lol and OMG the dreaded bumpy roads!
Other than we simmer the sauce for a lot longer. This is exactly how we make our lasagna. Raw noodles and all. So good. People always think I’m crazy when I tell them my family doesn’t cook them first. It sets up soo much better
Love your hair like that!!!
Oh good morning just in time for breakfast. Hope everyone has a wonder day.
And you too!
I totally remember those days with the CD player and adapter!! Lol!! We are in Texas. We have been homeschooling for 3 years. I am so GRATEFUL that we can continue and I know it’s a blessing that I can stay home. I know a lot of people don’t have this option. It’s so complicated!
Past Christine: “So I used way too much honey.”
Future Christine: “Why are these so sticky?”
NOOOO lol I hate when you video ends. I love watching! Maybe one day we can get more longer video's lol. Thanks for sharing with us and them coming
I'm older than enough!!!! I grew up with 8- track. Lol.
I grew up with shellac, then vinyl. You’re still young.
Me too
Transistor radio, here! I’m ancient.
I’m in Southern CA, LA county, and my kids aren’t going back to school. Your lasagna looks delicious 😋!
Tbh, I thought I was the only person who used cottage cheese instead of ricotta. Finally, the representation we need! Lol
Me too! Cant stand ricotta- it's so dry and weird
I've use cottage cheese, all the time so did my mom...
I also prefer cottage cheese! There’s a super easy crockpot lasagna that uses cottage cheese, and it’s delicious!!! I hate the texture of ricotta!
I wonder if cottage cheese is different in the UK, I can’t imagine it being subbed for ricotta! I quite like it on a cracker or something but I’d have to try blending it to see if the dry rubbery bits smooth out like hers does!
No mam i use cottage cheese i like it better
Helena Franck I am so sorry. All the best and stay safe.
I'm in Maryland, our kids are 100% virtual until January. Each county is doing its own thing. I'm lucky that 1) I can work virtually, 2) my kids are still in elementary school (and therefore I can help them still), and 3) we don't have any specific needs.
We’re in Perth, so things are almost back to normal over here. It feels like we’re in a bubble tbh. It’s quite tough in Victoria and NSW though 🙁
Hi Mariah! Fellow Perth girl here! So cool to find someone else from WA here :)
From Brissie and I agree!
Adelaide here. Were also in a bubble
Sending you love from the U.S.
When you reheat the breakfast burritos in the air fryer, did you leave the parchment paper around it?
Nope, we took it off!
I need that smiling spoon! It makes me smile when you use it.
America, Eagles Greatest Hits Live, Men At Work.... good times!
I’m in Iowa and we’ve homeschooled for the last 6 years so it’s no big difference for us OTHER THAN OUR SOCIAL LIVES 😜 our normal activities are cancelled for now 😭
And I totes relate to the discman on the seat 🙌🏼 our 5Below still has the tape adapter for sale 😂 my husband was liked “Who still needs that?!”....
6 years for us too ;)
Totally had a disc man in my 1989 Dodge Aries K car!!!
That is awesome!
We just cleaned out our fridge of all the little dibs and dabs of stuff that accumulates for some unknown reason...partial bags if shredded cheese half a container of sour cream and partial boxes of pasta equal homemade mac and cheese/ a pound of cooked ground beef and 47 partial bags(not really but you know what i mean) of frozen veggies equals vegetable beef soup...my fridge looks kinda empty now but i am glad none of that food was wasted
We are soon to be empty nesters (3 kids all grown up and gone or about to go)so i am going to have to really switch up my cooking game when it is just hubby and i so that i am not tossing food in the trash...thanks for sharing your ideas...love your videos!!!
Hey Christine,
Love your vids!
Run the Show I’m also a Melb girl. I’m also grateful for our healthcare system.
I like your realistic meal prep approach with items you have left in the fridge that you intended to use, but didn’t get to. Great ideas!
Thanks & Blessings ~Sidney
Man, I remember those days with the discman and the cassette adapter for the car... memories!
I make frozen breakfast burritos all the time. I started put the folded side down in a baking sheet that has a silicone mat on it then freeze it, then put them in bags. Save more patchment paper! I gotta try air fryer those!!!
My grandson lives in North Carolina and there is remote school indefinitely . Lucky my daughter is a stay at home mom
Central Texas here. 16yr old daughter entering her JR year, face to face with the option of doing online. Love the fridge/pantry clean out recipes!
