What happens if you delete system32 in Inscryption? (Inscryption PS5)

- In the PS5 version of Inscryption during the archivist fight, instead of picking actual files you pick fake files from Luke Carder's PC so I decided to see what happens if you pick system32
Don't worry, the save file is not deleted or anything like that, if you close the game and load it again you'll be back at the waypoint just before the fight begins.
Also I'm not sure what happens if you do this in the PC version of the game, if anyone knows please let me know.
in the pc version it reads your own computer's files but it can't actually delete them bc that'd technically make it a virus, instead if the card dies it makes a text file from po3 that iirc just tells you to delete the file yourself to play by the rules

technically this means that you win, as po3 can't perform the great transcendence anymore

I think Po3 should've immediately been on edge when that card was put down, even self sabotaging or outright conceding to prevent its destruction.

So on PC, it uses your actual computer's files, but instead of actually deleting them, it adds a new file that tells you to play fair and delete the file yourself.
If you do actually delete it, you'll get an achievement
I mean, rules are rules. Would be funny if the file you deleted was inscription.exe tho
@@sharppixels0885 I actually tried that to see of there was unique dialogue or if something happens after its deleted and neither happened.

I think it would've been really cool if Po3 conceded if you put System 32 down, but only on the first or second playthrough, and any attempt afterwards will just make Po3 stop you from ever accessing it as a playable.

Found this out since i picked it in my run yesterday, expecting it to just have the same reaction as the PC version...nope, it fucks that Luke Carder's computer.
What happens in the pc version?

I thought it couldn't actually delete files? There's a voiceline where they say "oh, I couldn't delete that, but you could be fair and delete it for me"

In the fight instead of actually deleting them, it adds a new file that tells you to play fair and delete the file yourself.
Due to how that would consider it a virus that would be cause issues. The text says to delete it yourself to play by the rules.
If you do, you get an achievement and PO3 even comments on it.
I'd do this to a simple text file lol.

If I remember correctly, when people were play testing that fight it did actually delete the files. So the game was considered malware by companies because of that, until he updated the game to make a copy of the file and a .txt document telling you to delete it yourself to play fair
I don't think Daniel Mullins ever planned for the files to be deleted by the game. He has a lot of experience in videogames, knows what he's doing, and that messing with other files than the ones of the game gets you thrown out of Steam (For indeed being classified as malware.)

@@supsendchapal4679 Nope. One of the closed beta versions totally deleted the file. So Devolver Digital had to kindly ask Daniel Mullins to tone it down a notch.
Imagine if Luke just went through inscryption’s files and put P03 in it instead, just hovering the hammer over it.
Po3 should have custom dialogue if you do this kind of play, like they should know that killing the card will make the computer stop working, so they should comment on it

Ok, I actually didn’t know what I was risking and did pick system 32 since it showed as 15 years old… I didn’t play it so this never happened to me but it’s interesting to see what would happen
technically this would be inaccurate as any sane operating system would load that file into memory. it would only fuck up the computer if you try to reboot it

I was impressed it displayed the linux root on my fedora machine. I was also impressed i could fallocate a massive bin file on an empty 6tb drive, as well as touch a file with a date created dating back to 1975.
There was a top down shooter game a ways back that did something similar, yet infinitely more malicious. Every enemy ship was a file on your computer. If you lost, the game would delete itself. But every ship you destroyed, the game would delete that file from your computer....

So the System 32 file isn’t an ACTUAL file, it’s just a placeholder, and has that little easter egg because if a file like that was really deleted, it would have an outcome such as this. correct me if I’m wrong please
weird that P03 doesn't have that many interactions with specific files and stuff, like the inscryption.exe file or system32 he doesn't say anything is he stupid
I made a wrapped fake file and just made it to appear to be several terabyte
I search everywher3 to see if people talk about easter egg or secret in the vonsole game , but no , nothing ( i was also searching for someone who also saw the skull on the bqttery thing )

The game can see your files but it actually cannot delete them. It just makes a text document and puts it on the destination, with the text saying that po3 wasn't able to delete it and you should follow the rules and delete it yourself instead.
This is on console, where you're given access to Luke Carder's PC instead of your own. Deleting _Luke's_ system32 causes the game to close, but otherwise has no effect.

I have a question. So we all know on PC that we get a note after losing the file card, but what happens on console???

LOL I just did this and had to look up to see if my save was gone or something. Just the idea that Luke puts his whole computer on the line and then chooses to destroy the card to see what happens has me fucking dying of laughter.

No PC, não, ele cria uma anotação na mesma pasta pedindo que apague o arquivo (se fazer isso, ganha uma conquista)
Em console também não porque são arquivos fakes, mas adicionaram esse easter egg que se deletar windows32 o jogo fecha

the experience is so inferior on the console lol it should not even exist. they should have it atleast select something on the console itself.
the reason they dont do that is because its impossible to do it.
The way they did it in the console port is actually pretty cool though as you get to explore Lukes computer, which has some pretty neat lore.
@@MahNamJeff i disagree for me the experience is much inferior and i would say that session of the game is ruined tho. but the rest of the game of course its the same on both versions. the experience of it breaking the 4th wall as if you are luke, and picking you steam friends made the game amazing, not having the file thing really ruined that part.
@@gabrielandy9272 It really didn't. It held the same amount of weight since it was still someone's computer you were sifting through, with consequences to fucking around with it.
And it's still fine. It may not be 100% authentic to the PC experience, but it still improves in some areas to balance out.
@@gabrielandy9272 It isn't possible to browse the console files so the drive has to be simulated. Regarding friends, the game will still use your friends on PS5/Xbox/Switch for that part, just as the PC version uses your Steam friends.
