I just had an interesting softlock while walking in Leshy's cabin. I somehow managed to solve the painting puzzle during the beginning fight of my second run after dying for the first time. Leshy told me to get up and bring the player piece for the map from table next to the safe, but I decided to take the cloverleaf from the painting. This caused a softlock, since you can carry only one item in hand in the cabin, I couldn't put down the cloverleaf and Leshy didn't let me back to the table without the player piece. Normally you could put down items on the table where you pick up the wolf statue after breaking its cage, but since this was the beginning of my second run, I didn't even have the caged wolf card in my hand yet. After walking around the cabin for a while, I quit to the start menu and loaded the last save, which put me back to the point where he tells you to bring the player piece.
P03 stepping in to prevent a loop reminds me of a real Yu-Gi-Oh ruling. There are so many card combos in that game that loop indefinitely without ever resolving, there's an official rule on what to do if they happen: if you're trying to take some action that would trigger a loop, you just can't take that action, even if the loop is caused by an opposing player's card effect being triggered. If an involuntary action like drawing a card would cause the effect, the first card in the loop to activate is destroyed. Pretty funny to imagine the first time a tournament official realised that someone had accidentally softlocked a card game.
Actually, this ruling was changed about a year ago, now it almost literally does what PO3 does, you call a judge over and they send the card they think is most at fault for the loop to the graveyard.
@@qedsoku849 Huh interesting. In Magic you just explain the loop once to your opponent and then you say a number for how many times you executed the loop. 5,10,100,1000 times etc.

This reminded me of a RUclipsr that got stuck for like an hour on the first part since he repeatedly got past through Leshy's bear army so the dagger and special eye hadn't appeared.
The bear army can appear up to 3 times for run. It never appears for Prospector or Leshy, it appears for Angler only on your first run, and it appears for the Trader on your first two runs.
On my first playthrough I actually managed to pull off the one in the unfinished fight by accident. I think I used the leapbots spawning on death and deal 1 damage to all on death. Starting with 1 leapbot at 1 health, it looped until PO3 stepped in.
Huh? He literaly said that on every other fight its not a soft lock since Leshy will play starvation cards. He never claimed that fight was a soft lock?
There's another softlock in kaycee's mod (and I think act 1?) where during the final battle, if you end leshy's first life on the turn he would use the prospector with a full board, there's a slim chance he'll play the kaminski deathcard with 0 attack between two tree blockers. If you block the other space with a cuckoo (I did this by accident the first time I saw this), leshy's board ends up full of 0 attack cards and your board is entirely gold nugget cards, making both sides unable to play cards.
Is it a soft lock tho? While neither can attack, turns are going by, you're drawing cards, and Leshy will replace his board with starvation once you run out.
P03 actually isn't 100% guaranteed to terminate the loop _properly,_ since when he detects a loop, he disables _any one_ of the rules randomly... whether it's one that's actually involved in the loop or not. I don't remember the exact combo of rules I ended up making, but it functionally ended up as, every time a card was destroyed, a L33pbot was played immediately, and when the loop was finally detected, he deactivated the only one of the three rules that wasn't even part of the loop! The field ended up full of L33pbots attacking each other endlessly, and even hammer-smashing my _own_ cards didn't stop it, so I couldn't even "deck out" and let him scale me.
Now I am not sure if this was patched out, but before Kaycee’s Mod was introduced, I remember there being a softlock if you beat The Trapper’s 8 Grizzlies (if you made it to him on your second run), where Leshy either doesn’t unroll the next map, or your figurine simply doesn’t appear. I don’t remember which one it was, but I do get memories of that
In my first playthrough, I got a softlock by visiting Mycologists with a deck of only face cards. There might be more with that deck, which is possible to achieve given you can start with only face cards after getting Magnificus.
1:25 If there was Leshy should say something like for the campfire one "Those around the campfire realize that your creatures can't be messed with and run away!"
I accidentally got the last softlock during my plathrough with a l33pbot being played every time a card dies, and every time a card is played, a card takes 5 damage. I was releived when it stopped and had a laugh!
This video is tragic. Not because of the softlocks. But because I just found out that my pride and joy, the infinite free explosive energy generating bot was not an original design by me. But I'm actually confused, when I made it I didn't need brittle, in fact, I could actually put stinky on it. Maybe because I used a 4 sigil card to create it
I had an infinite loop going on with Blank Canvas in both regular Act 3 and a modded in P03 Kaycee's mod. In Act 3, P03 stopped it, but in the Kaycees mod P03, I had a challenge where a Blank Canvas challenge was always on in a boss fight. It took so long because there was 4 painting rules instead of 3.

i did the p03 unfinished boss fight thing on accident and i dont think i ever realized it was because of that. i thought p03 just like reevaluated the mechanic and thought it was dogass and removed it
I actually got softlocked once by killing the moon, while also having my last creatures die at the same time, after having run out of cards. I Couldn't deal the finishing blow on Leshy, and starvation did not spawn because it was the moon fight...
did the moon die by attacking cards with the sharp quills sigil? That's the only way I could see that happening on accident without saccing your own cards after killing the moon.
I've got a neat softlock! I watched a friend of mine play and they were on the OG run of the game, final boss act 1-- and had a totem so all deer kin had the magpie's eye/card searcher ability. said Friend chose the boon that places a black goat on board at the beginning of the battle. This seemed to break the game and did not allow them to receive any more cards than the greater smoke they were given, and they weren't able to click on anything else--only able to open the game menu to quit to the starting screen. Otherwise the Game was fully bricked and they had to restart and choose a boon that was not black goat. I guess that auto-playing something that immediately lets you card search in that way just breaks it.
If the moon dies at the same time as killing your last creature from thorns damage on that creature, you might end up in that soft lock scenario unintentionally, but the likelihood of that happening is pretty slim
Exxo isn’t it crazy how far you’ve come, it’s amazing the progress that you’ve made in recent times, I can still remember the Fnaf world streams and the poppy playtime stream where you spent like thirty minutes playing with pillows. It’s just crazy.
ive been softlocked several times now by having a multi attack car like mantis attack something with the quills sigil so it dies mid attack, and then it just soft locked since its supposed to still be attacking :(
I had an inadvertent softlock at the very end of my attempt to get skull storm, after I had defeated the limoncello with my very last creature dying right before the final blow given by the defectors!!! that was heartbreaking hahaha
I almost softlocked myself in the unfinished boss because of the infinite l33pbots. Luckily fishbot turned into good fish (I forgot about his sigil) and with it and Ourobot I was able to scrape out a victory.
You can also softlock act 1 by getting past the grizzly bears in your second run through. I got this by putting a deathless sigil on a bee hive to create an endless swarm of zombie bees to block all the lanes. If you do this you can beat leshy in two runs, which prevents you from progressing since you need to die twice for magnificus' eyeball to appear.
I got softlocked in the final battle playing Kaycee's Mod. He struck all 4 of my cards turning them to gold stones and plopped 3 stumps against 3 of them and the 4th boulder opposed a rabbit. I didn't have scissors to cut anything, I was stumped....literally.
theirs actually a soft-lock for the cave trile event where if u spam W & S theirs a chaens the cave overlaps the cards stoping you from selecting a card
In act 3, if you talk to a guy by a bridge and walk to the next screen at the same time, the text appear on next screen but you cant move or do anything
I found one. Not a true softlock, but still noteworthy, and easy to pull off. So, if you beat the game (and get the credits (which requires you win with the different end boss fight)), and during the credits, you close the game, open it again, and if you did it right, it should say you have a game still going on. If you hit "continue", you will go to the secret map... 5? Yeah, the map has nothing on it, and if you go to the pause screen, it says map 5, so yeah. thats cool.
I actually triggered the Unfinished Boss one with the rules "Every time you play a card a random card is played" and "Every time a card dies a random card is played" fun fact if you create a rule after Po3 strikes one down, you can just create the rule they removed a second time
I had the power go out during the credit roll at the end of the royal fight, and when I loaded the save, the character tried to walk to the next map, and since there was no next map the game just soft locked with you staring at the table. Only way to fix it was to start a new game
@@mrtrash4128He's not referring to the Unfinished Boss infinite loops. He's referring to the fact that some deck-alteration events fail when you have no valid cards to choose to modify, but others cause the game to lock up. Those softlocks are definitely not intentional.
Probably because it's sort of reasonable to assume that a player might run into a situation in which they can't add to existing cards anymore, because they already modified all of them. But running into a situation that a player threw away every single card wasn't expected.
i found 1 more so u need cheat engine for that one 1. cheat a lot of teeth 2. get a lot of skin from hunter 3. at sacrifice table u need to sacrifice somebody and then it would be stuck (at least it did for me)
One time i was at the woodcarver in kaycees mod i had a canine head and saw a spiked sigil bottom totem half and tried to put it on and it let me take it then it just didn't take me to the map and i just stared at the carver
I don’t see how the goobert one would be impossible. You showed ring worm is impossible, and there’s a deck where you start with two ring worms and one other card. If you got rid of the mantis god so you only had ring worms (for some reason) then it’s totally possible.
IIRC, giving up twice in a row will cause your starter pelts to be replaced with a possum and a ring-worm respectively. So long as you can find a sigil altar to kill Mantis God and a bone altar to kill opossum, I think you could end up with a ring-worm-only deck pretty consistently. Of course, you'd have to survive to that point, which is easier said than done.
For the first two, couldn't you campfire all the rest of your cards and have a deck of just the random card in normal play? I mean it would be weird and a weak strategy to do that, but possible
another interesting softlock that has since been patched is in the act 3's golly bossfight, where playing the game on console, when golly loads the internet, she.... doesnt... do anything. infact, she cant even do her usual thing if she cant load it. you couldnt do anything, and since the fight was mandatory and couldnt be skipped, console players could never make it to act 4, until the patch of course.
I accidentally found a really bad inscryption softlock. So I was playing inscryption act 1 (importantly not Kaycee’s mod!) and I had this idea to try and get as many cards as humanly possible. So naturally the best way to do that is with the trapper, so I spent a long time building up an ourobours and making a death card with 150 attack and health from a mycologist orobouros. I got alot more than 999 teeth and bought mkre than 1000 pelt. I went into a sacrifice spot, some weird stuff happened and then I sacrificed my bullfrog to a pelt and then as I went to leave nothing happened. Leshy just stared at me as the stones stayed put. I can’t reset before I chose to go the stones because the path I was on before didn’t have a choice. I’m half pointing out a new softlock and half asking for help because I really wouldn’t want to lose all my progress on this stupid overpowered act 1 stuff Edit: just gonna wait a while with inscryption up in hopes something happens
I encountered a soft lock or glitch, I beat the limoncello in kaycees mod and forgot to grab the last item out of the painting so I tried to quit to the start screen to restart the battle. Instead it brought me back as if I beat the boss and was going to go to the next map and the pause screen said map #5 instead of #4 but nothing ever happened so I had to end the run
I've gotten softlocked in Act 3 by hoarding cards and accidentally creating such a terrible deck that I got stuck in an area where after trying like 10-15 times in each location, there were genuinely no battles that I could win out of the 2 or 3 that would allow me to continue the game. I had to restart from act 1 and decided to use the ouroboros exploit to avoid this happening again Edit: this happened on my first playthrough, and i was doing it without any guides and didn't realize that less is more in act 3 and hoarding cards is bad
You'll also get a softlock if you enter some of the ARG codes into the switch version, I named a Death card Xxxxx|xxxx|xxxxx and the game freezes during the head on a pike fight in act II
I play on the ps5 and had an issue with goobert accidentally when I hit down on the control stick after he painted my card while his text was still present. It gave the card choice again but I couldn’t select and the both cards were still on the easel. Had to save and quit. I think it happened a second time and instead of starting a new game I went back into the same one and was able to keep playing. Can’t remember if it put me back before or after the goobert event.
IMO in act 3 adding too many cards to your deck is a practical soft lock. The game basically becomes unplayable. Did this on my first run and had to reset.
I softlock my Game in a different way... In the Story i can't get the Speziel Eye to Progress With the Dolch and only can choose the normal and Goat Eye...

But running into a situation that a player threw away every single card wasn't expected.
i found 1 more
so u need cheat engine for that one
1. cheat a lot of teeth
2. get a lot of skin from hunter
3. at sacrifice table u need to sacrifice somebody and then it would be stuck (at least it did for me)
One time i was at the woodcarver in kaycees mod i had a canine head and saw a spiked sigil bottom totem half and tried to put it on and it let me take it then it just didn't take me to the map and i just stared at the carver
Dude, my first time doing the unfinished bossfight, I did both of the ones that you said, and I hated my life
Bro spent too much time in Leshy's basement 🗿
I’m half pointing out a new softlock and half asking for help because I really wouldn’t want to lose all my progress on this stupid overpowered act 1 stuff
Edit: just gonna wait a while with inscryption up in hopes something happens
can you make a video on how to manually mod the game? especially with the later versions of bepinex? thank you
I encountered a soft lock or glitch, I beat the limoncello in kaycees mod and forgot to grab the last item out of the painting so I tried to quit to the start screen to restart the battle. Instead it brought me back as if I beat the boss and was going to go to the next map and the pause screen said map #5 instead of #4 but nothing ever happened so I had to end the run
What if you get a damage campfire with only ant cards?
Place system 32 as a card in one of po3’s battles and then hammer it
I've gotten softlocked in Act 3 by hoarding cards and accidentally creating such a terrible deck that I got stuck in an area where after trying like 10-15 times in each location, there were genuinely no battles that I could win out of the 2 or 3 that would allow me to continue the game. I had to restart from act 1 and decided to use the ouroboros exploit to avoid this happening again
Edit: this happened on my first playthrough, and i was doing it without any guides and didn't realize that less is more in act 3 and hoarding cards is bad
You'll also get a softlock if you enter some of the ARG codes into the switch version, I named a Death card Xxxxx|xxxx|xxxxx and the game freezes during the head on a pike fight in act II
You sound like a young Ron Swanson
Why cant goobert copy a long elk or a ring worm card?
I play on the ps5 and had an issue with goobert accidentally when I hit down on the control stick after he painted my card while his text was still present. It gave the card choice again but I couldn’t select and the both cards were still on the easel. Had to save and quit. I think it happened a second time and instead of starting a new game I went back into the same one and was able to keep playing. Can’t remember if it put me back before or after the goobert event.
IMO in act 3 adding too many cards to your deck is a practical soft lock. The game basically becomes unplayable. Did this on my first run and had to reset.
Exxo, how do i train goobert to paint non paintable cards?
I softlock my Game in a different way... In the Story i can't get the Speziel Eye to Progress With the Dolch and only can choose the normal and Goat Eye...
Hey, totally unrelated but what mic are you using? It sounds really crisp and didn't pick your fan too much last summer, so it seems pretty good.
Very nice video. Well done
iirc pelts can't be upgraded at a campfire, is it possible to have nothing but pelts in your deck?
Po3 had an error
man imagine if goobert could copy ijiraq that would be ..I have no word for it but it'd be a little too good
DOCTOR FIRE ESQUIRE 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 (Markiplier)
You can't copy the Long Elk because there is only one Long Elk.
7:21 Undead Unluck reference
NOOO don't recycle DR FIRE ESQUIRE
Inciptin
Fnaf inscryption when?
Hey exxo what happened last stream?
gee do i love it when people put spoilers in their thumbnails
softlocks that require 3rd party software or save editing isn't a softlock
And the will be noti..... Video freezes
That's goofy.
Goobert is so silly... Can't draw a circle...
please buy a pop filter
i do the loop but whit 3 rules
BOO
softlocks that are not normally possible in the game are not softlocks its the result of modding*
