I have had five Ducati's and this one is the most fun for sure. But not only that, it is a riders bike and can go like a rocket if desired. Good video. I love my 2016 icon.
Wonderful review! As a new rider and most importantly a new scrambler rider this Ducati has peaked my interest. I have been trying to like the Triumph Scramblers but those high exhaust mounts terrify me. 😧🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹
Can’t believe how different you look without the beard! AMAzing. It’s taken years off you and improved your hair too! 👌Never liked the previous off set rear damper. Looked a mess
Nice review, thanks. Two questions. How does the Scrambler handle a spirited ride on bqck roads? Is the air cooled bike a bit hot riding around twon on the hottest days?
Had this bike a few years ago. I really wanted to love it as it's so cool to look at and it's switch-on-and-go basic, rough and ready feel is appealing. But in reality it just doesn't handle that well compared with so many others. I changed the tires and it improved radically but still wasn't great at cornering. Acceleration is ok but not thrilling, brakes are just average. I'm glad that they changed the cockpit info as it was very poor. It still has oodles of cool but I feel is more of a marketing package than a real bike. You can certainly have fun with it and look great on it. Really depends what you want a bike for.
I love the exhaust "wrap around" style on the Ducati, but I think for style to price, I prefer the Triumph Scrambler 900. I like the better sound of the Triumph and the exhaust is nicer with the dual pipes. The Ducati headlight looks cheap to me for some reason, almost as cheap as a Honda Rebel (its probably that plastic look than glass.)
Someone should make at least a complete front mudguard like on the V Strom,I know some like the cosmetic 's of these small mudguard 's but they are as much use as a Ash tray on a motor bike!
What are those pants you have on, please? The ones you reviewed a short while ago on Urban Rider? On the subject of this bike, I don't like the slither of plastic from the front of the tank. Ruins the looks. TFT! Although it doesn't look bad. Shorter wheelbase, lighter: is it as stable at speed?
If you can look beyond the electronics and stickers and the hype(which cost nothing) this is nothing more than a money saving exercise. From the plastic covered tank, as opposed to the original steel jewel of a tank, relocation of the rear shock, which looks just like any other bike, the previous shock position made the bike really stand out, The original seat looked padded and stitched. This new one looks like a cheap piece of plastic, exhaust pipe looks like it’s been made out of a can of beans. The previous exhaust manifold had lovely bends that swooped around the engine profile, the new one looks like something I would bend up in my Garage cheap! and to add insult to injury, I paid £7500 for my icon Brand-new in 2016. They are now asking £10,000. Now, if they put a second front disc, and maybe an updated engine we might have been on the right track, but no !
Cool. Now I’m going to scour the Internet for specs and price and drool and vacillate over what bike I’m going to get that I can’t afford, but somehow will justify, lol.
Looks okay but I just bought my first Scrambler, a 2016 Icon. Love it and it has 77 HP now with SC Project muffler addition. I would like the "ride by wire" throttle. Link to a ride on mine the other day, if you like Tasmania. ruclips.net/video/zLu8s07k1e8/видео.html
It’s got pretty average suspension, the engine is a stressed member and also the lowest hanging fruit yet it’s a scrambler? Ryan said it best: buy the Scram 411 because it’s a small fish in a fake pond.
I thought the same about the price at first, but it's on a par with the Triumph Scrambler 900 now, and that bike is way heavier, lower in power, far fewer features. So I guess the price of everything is just going up and up?
@@motobob The Triumph actually looks like a real classic bike, has a metal tank instead of plastic and spoke wheels instead of cast aluminum. I definitely feel more hipster on the triumph :p
Being freaky and needing symmetry in life bikes with just one disc on one side in front scrambles my freaky brain… nice bike though but come on let’s have dual discs whether needed or not…😅
Like nearly all modern street bikes, it has the short stubby mud guards….fab looking and fits in nicely with hot dusty roads of southern Europe or countries of more sunshine then rainfall!….but they get trashed in the Uk or similar with wet crappy roads!…….engine and undercarriage get hammered!…..form over function once again ….
@@cowmath77 just my observation and opinion old fruit …..like assh0les, we all have them….would be nice to see proper equipment fitted that’s fit for purpose for the market it’s intended…not rocket science 🤷♂️….and lastly I’m an old retired career soldier…no button modes in the 70’s , 80s or beyond in my world sugarplum…have a nice day and watch out for puddles 😎👌
On year 8 of my 2015. It's air cooled so you take the good with the bad. If you ride cold days that heat keeps you nice and toasty between stop lights.

Totally agree its this or my 1200 monster
Saw you cruising around Valencia along with other people testing this bike!
Love your videos! Only thing i would improve at this point: longer reviews!
Love Tim, Love Motobob - Dream team! Great review!
Gorgeous bike. Scramblers are always so cool
Tim's a natural at this. More Tim please Bob
Love the look and that it dares to be different. Would be very happy to bop around one one of these. Great review as always Tim.
Bob was right to be jealous of Tim’s trip. The podcast combined with these reviews are great. Nice work. 👍🤪🇨🇦
Thanks J! Appreciate the feedback

I have been trying to like the Triumph Scramblers but those high exhaust mounts terrify me. 😧🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹
Love the look they need to do an sp version , and give you a choice on tyres .
Does it still burn your leg like the older one?
Can’t believe how different you look without the beard! AMAzing. It’s taken years off you and improved your hair too! 👌Never liked the previous off set rear damper. Looked a mess
Looks like you just left school!
does it heat like the previous model?
Nice review, thanks. Two questions. How does the Scrambler handle a spirited ride on bqck roads? Is the air cooled bike a bit hot riding around twon on the hottest days?
I love TFT displays, but they've made a meal of it here. The square shape in the round surrounding unit looks a bit half arsed

Good job Tim.
For stock, this sounds really good.
Really like this but at 190m height its to small for me i think wish they would make these a bit more buff
can you tell me the brand of the gloves you are wearing?
Nice review
Has it got a fuel Guage?.
running a single disc brake, how is the braking performance? isnt it lacking or just sufficient for an aggressive riding style

Is there any heating issues in this model compared to previous scrambler icon
Glad the bike is still good. I prefer my 2015 tank way better though.
Would be nice to have a set of real mudguards. Sometimes it rains in the UK.
It has been known to from time to time… 🤣😢

Does anyone know if there will be also updated Desert Sled version?
Im sad they dont give us the desert sled in Europe...its the only true scrambler in the line up
@@ivoaferreira Those Icons are just neo retro nakeds. As you said - Desert Sled is the only true Scrmabler and unfortunatelly is not updated :/
I do very much like the looks of this new version. However, to me, anything over 250cc should be liquid cooled. :)
Could you do a yearly, seven day long easy going tour with some dry bags thrown on the back?
For a 6 4 person would it be a comfortable ride?
My favorite missing part that ridiculous front brake line looping up over the top of everything. Thank god that’s gone
Oh damn.... Byw you are a good anchor too
I would like to see the 936 motor in that bike, then it would move.
Yeah Quadlock! Shredder your camera for online 200 bucks! Sassy support included!!

i love this bike😍
It's all good but it doesn't look as good as before

the old look was so much better.
Love the Scrambler but WAY too expensive.
i love the look of the scrambler 800 but i'm to big for it, tiny bike
Love the look bike
Still no cruise control in 2023?
What bike in this class has cruise control?
Cfmoto 700cl-x heritage ,that has
And probably still can't find neutral?
Cruise is for highway, this ain’t no tourer
Il stick with the triumph scramblers. 🏴
Man 1200 one is just not for me i am 5.6 guy so I went for the 900 ... Happy with the purchase .. though it's a second hand..
A real scrambler you mean
Wrong video 😂
Dont understand why they tooke the scrambler desert sled out of production. The best ducati scrambler To my opinion
ill rather the old one instead the old 1 looks more agressive compare to this
Why did ducati scrambler is always air cooled?
Very nice, can live with that beauty ❤
brother any video on nightshift 🙏
Like it, a lot! Glad they got rid of the ugly cable across the front - I’d buy one now.
Where’s Bob?
I will get it then.
Nice
Would be so much better looking with 17 inch wheels
The person who put that TFT screen on there should have to answer for their crimes to the high Court
"If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough." *Albert Einstein
I'm sad they changed the lovely circle screen, I hate the stupid plasma TVs they put. -_-
I'm riding a motorcycle, I don't need to see all that god damn information, I need to listen to the engine and clear my damn head.
That down pipe looks like an after thought bloody awful, great video though.
The old pipes looked a lot better, the old rear shock looked more special too. I feel like they went a little backwards with the design tbh.

I like. I want.
Wait. Who is that ?
lol, I have the same question I saw the thumbnail. 😂
Bobs friend Tim
Single front disc ?! 😢
Old scrambler exhaust pipe looks better
Bob looks different, new haircut maybe?
It’s got pretty average suspension, the engine is a stressed member and also the lowest hanging fruit yet it’s a scrambler?
Ryan said it best: buy the Scram 411 because it’s a small fish in a fake pond.
No mention of the ridiculous pricing and not even cruise control. Is Ducati giving out knee pads for these reviews/advertisements now?
I thought the same about the price at first, but it's on a par with the Triumph Scrambler 900 now, and that bike is way heavier, lower in power, far fewer features. So I guess the price of everything is just going up and up?
What frightening is the cost of service ,there really is no need for it,even belt changing should by now half what some gready people charge.
@@motobob The Triumph actually looks like a real classic bike, has a metal tank instead of plastic and spoke wheels instead of cast aluminum. I definitely feel more hipster on the triumph :p
@motobob Another product far to expensive to service and run.
Electronic throttles are a deal breaker
Tht plastic head light seem cheap
Being freaky and needing symmetry in life bikes with just one disc on one side in front scrambles my freaky brain… nice bike though but come on let’s have dual discs whether needed or not…😅
Man, the 2015 looks a lot better. I don’t think I’d buy this.
Sorry, but those nailed on rad cowls look crap.
A rather unrealistically positive review - you didn't mention the price... 😢
Who’s this perpetrator???🤣
Look up rarified road
Are you a hipster with too much cash ? We have a bike for you !
Finally they managed to scrap off some weight.
plastics make it look like crap. makes it look cheap.

No mate, it smells funny. New one looks like a cheap copy with the radiator shroud tacked on
The ducati scrambler will cook you because of the heat it produces😂
No it doesn’t. Yes I’ve ridden it.
no, my full throttle doesn't
Cook your Pizza on it!

It looks soul-less...
Too much plastic for a retro-inspired bike.
