  • Before there were ADV bikes, enduros, or even dirt bikes, there were Scramblers. Simple, versatile bikes that you rode everywhere, including off road. In this episode of On Two Wheels, Zack and Ari take on the Rocky Mountains aboard modern-day Scramblers from Ducati and Triumph, to see what motorcycle adventures were like before the advent of the modern ADV bike.

I happened to run into this video and I'm glad I did. This was one of the coolest down to earth videos around, no hype or bs, just plain adventurous fun. I appreciated the nod you gave your dads and also staying with the retro look. Reminds me of old films I saw of my dad spinning his Triumph in the mud, taken just after the war. That little Duc and also the Triumph were really put to the test, you guys rode them well. I've had four Ducs over the years, my latest is the 999R. My hats off to you guys!

awesome, this is what the motorcycle community lacks. just plain down to earth test rides that is suppose to be fun and sets value on the feeling of the bike and goofing around, not all about data on horsepower and suspension or chassie or other stuff that is secondary... most of the customers don´t care if bike x is 3 horsepower less than bike y.. for most of us it´s the feeling of the bike and/or the lifestyle that it represents or comes with it....

This was one of the best "review" videos I've seen. I can get all the specs from the company website and when people doing a review focus on the minutiae the personality of the bike gets lost.
From this video, I feel as if I have a good understanding about what it's really like to ride those bikes. You showed where the bikes worked well and where they reached their limits while at the same time coming across as regular guys who are reasonably good (competent) riders. Well done! I subscribed and I look forward to more videos like this.
I started riding in 1972 on the old enduros and those were great days.

One of the best motorcycle videos I have seen in a long time. I suppose Ducati Scrambler is a better one of the two considering the fact that it a full 48 Kgs lighter than the Triumph and 18 horses more with the almost same torque. Some Skid plates and upswept exhaust with some tuning to the suspension would make the Ducati a really good offroader .

One point to think about is that most 1960s and 1970s Scramblers were anywhere from 100cc to 500cc with the most popular being around the 350cc until trail bikes like the Honda SL 350 made them obsolete ,, 800cc and over as a scambler is a bit nuts and a bit heavy IMO ,, They need to make some at about 350cc ,that would be worth a look ,, but I think an XR400 R or a hair raising Maico 490 is a bit more practical ( well maybe the Honda anyways ) lol ,, or you can do as other's do and custom build a scrambler from old CB Honda's and such ,, : )

the idea is not that crazy, royal enfield are incredible bikes, it has a 410cc very utlra mega reliable engine that runs forever, is the adventure bike for india... or you just can go for a new 2016 KLR that will do the same but cooler

Great video and a couple of very interesting bikes. Love the "Honda 350 Scrambler" look of the Triumph. Takes me back to the 60s and the bikes we rode then.

I come back to this clip every few years just for the good will of it .. I have a 2017 Street Scrambler left over for a great price and have 11K on it with 2 seasons of riding around my local back roads ..It is a wonderful back, bumpy road roadster ...Broken a few bits off dropping it in deep sand and gravel but with lots of laughs every day ..

You guys are awesome. Street tests of these bikes are a dime a dozen, but people who are willing to test them offroad like you did seem to be scarce. Thank you for sharing. My first scrambler was a honda CL 350, and I drove it to work every day, and drove it on the trails on the weekends and occasionally raised a few eyebrows at the MX track when the guys on their RM 125s could not shake me off their tails... Thanks also for pointing out some of the off road issues, like the Duc and the lack of ground clearance.

Poking around looking at enduro and scrambler videos and I came across this. I have to say, you guy impressed me with the limits you brought these bikes too and I will watch any video with this type of testing! I don't care if you are on a roadking hitting the back woods! Great video!

Love this video,I've been looking at the Ducati scrambler reviews because I'm considering getting one for my daily 20 min commute to work.It was presented in a fun factual manner so I kept watching and it bought a bit of a grin to my face. You guys seem to work well together,I hope you made the camera crew help push when they weren't filming.Keep up the top work.
