Thanks for using Coast Line (Derails caboose)
I don’t understand how railroads are allowed to keep building trains this way after all the derailments that have happened.
Because in most cases it’s human error
All fails shown (yes, I'm using British terms for rolling stock):
0:02: faulty tracks cause engine failure
0:08: string line derailment
0:16: one reason why I don't like the brake hoses on knuckle couplers
0:23: troublesome trucks (how'd the brakevan survive)
0:35: a heavy train and an underpowered locomotive (but, it's an S100 with a Japanese brakevan so who cares?)
0:56: throwing missles at a van of explosives
1:03: how?
1:10: another reason why I don't like the brake hoses on knuckle couplers
1:14: ded
1:18: faulty wheels
1:25: I don't know
1:37: misaligned points
1:44: ballast at an unsafe height level
1:48: a derailed locomotive
1:55: troublesome trucks again
2:08: ...
2:18: something on the line
2:33: dead spot
2:35: sending a shunter to do a mainline engine's work
2:51: More faulty wheels
But, overall, nice
1:24 ah shit

Always have to mix it up! I've had them for a while, just weren't run often.

It's the Lionel HO exploding boxcar- I found these on Ebay and at shows.
@@SCL3618 nice
Luckily no one was hurt
That one sound effect from 'Cars'
Yes! I've been waiting for more! I always have the same problem with couplers getting stuck from rail at a diamond or a crossing.
I sense a lot of underweight cars, underpowered locomotives, and use of plastic couplers. The custom crossings might need to be lowered to avoid the trip pins.
i temporarily switched to using all mchenry couplers... i like the way they uncouple using a small K & S round jewelry file... i have a switching layout and do 99% cutting cars off on different tracks here and there but no mainline running at track speed... i'd have to go back with kadees if i went mainline running... plastic couplers on the mainline is asking for unwanted uncouplings
At 1:44 the caboose thought that it was a switch lol
I don't know why any of these railroad employees stay on after all these incidents! Really funny, and I'm making sure I note these so I don't have anything super bad happen to my units.
The pay and benefits package keeps them around!

I don't mean to laugh at all of this, but...haven't we ALL had moments like this????
Precisely why I started making these videos! Highlights the stuff that happens, but either people are afraid to admit or just deny. It's meant for laughs, so feel free!

Universe is symmetrical at macroscales. Meaning that anything that can go wrong at HO scale can go wrong at real world scale and vice versa. So there are lessons here. That said , IMHO, HO scale does not scale weight and mass proportionatly from real thing. The trains, especially cars, are too light , and engines also have insufficient weight on wheels for consistent operation. The sets, along with tracks warp over time due to changes in temp and humidity of the enclosed environment. Alignment errors in tracks combined with HO scale rolling stock light weight contributes to derailing.
Solution. Add brass weights to the rolling stock and some to engines. This will cause degradation of performance but result in more realistic , and challenging operation of HO scale equipment.
Lead is toxic, don't use it. Iron will rust. So will steel from big box. Stainless steel is far too expensive for this application. But solid brass may fit the bill. Also weights from old school weight scales.
The exact math for calculating redimensioned mass/ scale is kind of complicated, so just use trial and error.
