As the old adage goes, everything will go perfect until you point a camera at something...This mostly holds true, often to amusing effect! Put together a small selection of some moments I've had get sideways when trying to film for other videos.

Glad to see a serious modeler who’s not afraid to show the screw ups when they happen, my motto for model railroading is, you’re gonna screw up, you’re gonna break a few models in the beginning, but as long as you learn from it
Bingo! Wouldn't quite call myself a serious modeler though lol, too many get uptight with that title and forget to have fun! These incidents are all a part of creating stuff, but they're fun to show that not everything goes perfect on the cuts we see on video.

I'm glad I'm not the only one with Passenger and freight cars that randomly jump off the track
In total it has cost me about a hundred dollars
A consist of 50 cars
48 of them: perfectly fine
The other 2: OH LOOK A GRAIN OF DUST OFF TO THE FLOOR I GO!!!!!!!

This brings me back to the days of I Love Toy Trains
Thanks for sharing. This is the first REALITY model railroad video I've seen. The others always seem so perfect. Had one light AHM cattle car that would not stay on track until I glued a one-ounce flat lead fishing sinker inside.

My father has two OS gauge trains that were put on elaborate Christmas display in the 1950s. The Plasticville village was very real to us as small children. Everything was properly done with the two trains until 12th night, when the display was to be taken down until next Christmas. My father had so much fun that night, split-second criss-crossing of the passenger train with the freight train, sometimes deliberately detailing the shorter one, and sometimes putting his head on the tracks to hear his little girls squeal and beg him not to be hurt by the oncoming locomotive. He always pulled away in time, though.
That intermodal pulled a (Dance Dance Revolution) "move" at 1:24 to 1:33, LMAO!

0:09 Wow I've never seen a blue & silver Santa Fe locomotive before. That's so cool. I've only seen them in red & silver, & in dark blue & yellow.
FP45 and a GP60 painted up in the hybrid Santa Fe / Maresk livery in the late 80s early 90s for promotional reasons.

I can relate to just about every problem here. “Fantastic” is usually my exact reaction. The pokeball sound got me too. Still haven’t figured out how to fix that issue properly.

I often take needle nose pliers and curve them up a little. Then at least they don't snag like this.

I always have to push my air hoses up so that they don’t cause derailments

It typically occurs when the train has its lighter stock up front with heavier in the back, or with several light cars between heavy ones.

This is why I cut off the air hoses of knuckle couplers. They keep getting caught on the sleepers.

…And what did learn? The importance of track and right-of-way maintenance. 😁
Unfortunately that falls under the politic laden club process lol. Until then, it just gives me ammo for these videos.
Major issues are couplers installed at different heights (No NMRA Standards) and the Kaydee glad hand too low. Easy fixes

I have experience a lot of derailments for various reasons. Airhoses getting caught on switch and diamond frogs, flex trucks suck and should be replaced with Atlas asap, some cars like centerbeams weigh nothing and should be at the back of the train, kadee coupler spring pops off likely from switching and then uncouples the train in transit, Always make sure the weight in freight cars is glued in properly in kit freight cars, replace plastic wheels with metal wheels whenever possible on the rollingstock, don't run long freight cars like autoracks on steep turns especially going fast lol (don't ask-kind of embarrassing moment at a club), make sure your switches are lined up properly.
The diamonds seem to be a little off kilter, not very level? Just a problem waiting to happen.
