Kinda notice that it's always those few cars that keep on derailing. Is that due to quality control on the cars, a weight problem, the way track is assembled, or a mixture of all three?
My DC models might not have all the detail that comes off when you look at it too hard, but at least it all stays on track (code 100) without any derailments. And no parts fall off of my models.
@thanbo, I agree it is very interesting, I have 4 o scale train cars and sometimes they derail or disconnect Wich I don't know why, but I think it's so satisfying for some reason.
I'm impressed by how much "problems" like derailment or random car blocked by the track, train decoupling etc... It's because of the old track or just because it's just a tiny wagon made of plastic?
I get a kick out of this, but I also know it’s frustrating as H. I made a couple of self-contained N scale layouts in coffee tables. I really tested the wife’s patience when it came to testing the track. She put up with it, knowing I was making one-off tables that would fetch a good price. It took a few weeks to run trains forward at any speed, then pushing ten cars with couplers mounted on the trucks without an issue. When it came time for train shows, the comments were incredible. “Look at how they run so slow!” Then the absolute astonishment when guys that had layouts would watch my trains go around for an hour, while pushing, without a derailment. I still get a charge out of the “wrecks” on any layout, and wonder how long it would take to clean up and fix the mess if it were the real thing!
An excellent video. I think I saw Oscar and Piker in the video. Those are two of twenty or so items I wish I had bought when I was a kid, along with about four more Athearn super power blue box F-7 A and B units. After all of the decades of running the wheels off of the four I bought new, both inside and outside, they have acquired a beautiful patina and realistic weathering and still run incredibly smooth. Hello from the Tracy Mountain Railway in Colorado. 💙 T.E.N. Edit: They even manage to stay on my horribly laid track. 😅
Every time I watch these fail complications you’ve made I go, “why on EARTH are you making your shunting diesels pull heavy loads like that?? They can’t handle that kind of comedic punishment!” XD
It’s so much more realistic then most others. The reality of HO scale, I have set up N scale with much greater running success. HO different cars, different spots , could never figure out why. I love my N scale.
"I'm sorry Mr. 3618, but we have disagreed to merge your railroad with Norfolk Southern because of your...interesting...safety record." "We require more HO Scale Crashes and Derailments in order to merge with Norfolk Southern."

Dear SCL3618, All the train companies that derailed in this video add up to 1,289.76 USD. The RRLC (Re-raling Locomotive Company) Have payed 1,267.76. Noa you only have 11 USD to pay. Thank you.
So glad my club has a high quality layout, we never see stupid stuff like this. Sure, a car will uncouple on occasion but rarely. These folks need to seriously re-design their layout and get the ground level at those switches. And it’s clear that people don’t quite know that they’re supposed to adjust the Kadee coupler fake air line with a special jewelers tool so IT DOESN’T CONSTANTLY CATCH ON THE TRACK CROSSINGS! I usually just snip mine off since I don’t do operation sessions with my rolling stock and locos. Amazing, folks will buy a $280 Scale Trains locomotive then slam it into things, painful to watch, lol.
Feel free to use the donation link on the cab ride video to help out! All of the above takes cash and labor, neither of which are in massive supply at the moment.
@@SCL3618 actually…..it doesn’t take that much cash, you already have the track and base layout. Whoever laid the track and base had a very low IQ and didn’t understand the requirements for level track. Your track is like a miniature roller coaster, I’m not talking about the section of track that has small switchback like sections, I’m referring to the flat level sections that are not flat and level. Remove all your track and switches, then remove the crappy terrain modeling and base support. Once you’re down to the plywood, make sure the primary wood base is secure then gradually build up the base layer to create a flat track base. Clean all the crap off the track sections you have and make sure they’re not damaged. Once cleaned, secure them to the road bed and for switches, do the same but make sure you put a piece of straight wood or plywood over the top of the switch so when you add some weight on top of the wood, it’ll keep the switch and track in the correct position as the glue dries. Sometimes we use a small car battery to ensure everything stays in one spot. Avoid using wood for road crossings since it absorbs moisture and will expand when it’s hot and humid. Then I shouldn’t have to ask if the layout is under constant air conditioning since not doing that will kill a layout. For temporary track while you do repairs, just use sections of Kato unitrak. You can look up our club layout by searching for SAMRA, we’re in San Antonio, TX. We have another model club here in town and their layout is like yours, it’s not because of money, people just don’t want to work on it which is why we call it the “4 wheel drive” version of model railroading. Nobody wants to run expensive models on shit track but if that’s ya’alls thing then, okey dokey. I did like the added sound effects though, funny. I was waiting for one to say “weeeeeee” as the car went rolling backwards alone, lol. Never put a switch at the end of a tight radius turn, the trucks will easily pick the switch points and go off rail. That little dip in the line section is only for logging railroad locomotives and not standard HO scale models, it’s impossible to keep all drive wheels in contact as well as keeping couplers connected. Remove all that tar looking crap at that big road crossing you have and just build a road crossing with some 400 grit sand paper painted gray/black. And I’m serious about the low IQ part, whoever made most of the decisions on this layout was either 12 years old or a NARS (Not A Rocket Scientist).
LOL, gotta love 2:03 Who would have thought we would get a Leeroy Jenkins in model railroading...
