My manager only contacts me if she needs my help with something and I only contact her if I need help with something. We have a great work relationship 😁
My last boss said _in the interview_ "I'm not a micromanager, I'm just a perfectionist." No one even asked him. Just one of the many red flags I should have heeded. He was definitely a micromanager.
The problem with micromanaging is that it interrupts me from doing my job and then i get in trouble for not having it completed even though you are the one who forced me to make 15 changes
That's the problem with micromanagement. The micromanager has to have everything done their way, there's no trust in the employees to do it correctly, they waste time while micromanaging, and then when everything goes wrong, they blame the employee. It is almost always the manager's fault because they won't actually let their employees do anything on their own.
Funny, when my boss calls while I’m working and apologizes for bothering me while I’m working, I say “you sign my paychecks call me whenever you’d like.” 😂
I had a micromanager, I billed the 15 minutes each interruption to his invoice account every time he interrupted my work day. Can't bill the client for that time, i'm going to bill someone.
Nah, he's right, your boss can contact you any time during work hours. The real nightmares are the ones who emal, text, call on off hours, weekends, or holidays. I had an executive who routinely tortured managers by sending assignments at 2am, due at 8am. As you might expect, turnover was very high 😅
I'm a self employed massage therapist and was doing an office massage at a company once. I always greet every person coming into a session by ''hello my name is xyz etc..'' Once I had a guy after introducing himself saying ''I'm the one paying your bills'' obviously meaning he is the boss... It is just such a yucky thing to tell someone when they are providing a service that they are paying their bills... To be honest my bills are higher than what I made on that one day lol so he should be doing a better job on that really! Also if you follow that logic we are all just here paying each others bills... I'm paying the cashiers bills in the store, the bus drivers bills the farmers bills etc... Anyway I can tell how shitty or amazing a company is just by being there for a few hours..
If I'm working on the project you assigned me, unless there is a spec change or other detail that needs updating - your call very likely interrupted my focus and train of thought... (next bit silly fun) ...then... sigh... the badder reminds me it's time for excess hydration removal... the coworkers see me up and about - begin stalking me with questions, gossip, chit-chat, sign birthday card, or other items before I am able to cloister myself in my cube again... so boss... what did that phone interruption cost?
I had a boss who wanted a lot of updates on what had happened during my shift. I was a secretary so imagine every call etc. I remember once I spent longer detailing the email to her about every aspect of the day than I did completing all the work.😅 As someone who had had many years experience in a similar role previously I found it frustrating, I didn't stay too long in that role too long 😂
I'd never ask "are you doing your job". Why not ask whether things are ok, whether they've any questions, whether they need help? The manager can then assist as appropriate, feedback as appropriate and let them get on. If you're bothering someone when you don't need help (ie to satisfy your curiousity of anxiety) always make it to their benefit (eg offer a coffee). That way, you diffuse anger because they can't justify annoyance when you're benefiting them. The chap featured is just bad with people.
If I am doing my job, and my boss is calling or checking in and talking to me all the time over and over! How am I then supposed to do my job? Every time he "checks in", he is ruining a lot more than the time it takes to speak to me. he gets me out of the rythm. Maybe you need to stop something, and then start it back up, or at the very least you need to slow down. Most likely not do your job as long as the boss is "checking" on you! Even with good boses there is something so saying about how productivity often is higher when he is away on holiday! I have seen that several times.
I enjoy working and I enjoy doing my job, but if my manager is constantly harassing me about doing my job then it instantly makes me want to be less productive. If you don't trust me then I won't work hard
People act like there are not purely crap employees out there. Making sure work is getting done is not micromanaging. If your employee skips preventative maintenance to the point that it is costing money and productivity, it is not micromanaging to tell them to di their job. They will accuse you of micromanaging, but making sure work is getting done properly is not micromanaging. I have worked under micromanagers and there is a difference.
Boss wouldn't be calling if the employee had a record of dependability! The Boss has deadline that if missed could cost hie business a contract. Employee causes the loss of a contract - then that employee might lose his employment!
Tell me you’re an a 🕳️, without telling us you are one. A good boss has faith in their staff to begin with, If you can’t retain employees for longer than 2years it’s YOU !!

As it should be
And here we have Captain Arsehat in his natural environment....
Great representation of a boss who is sooo insecure that he is almost manic.

"Call you whenever I want... During Business hours." is what he actually said.
Afterthought because he's gotten one too many calls from HR
@@m0L3ify at home/off work or during business hours?
@@glorifiedng I'm sure HR called him during business hours to tell him to stop calling people out of business hours.
“During work hours”
it’s still gay as hell
This guy just screams, "I'm a giant prick."
That dude definitely calls people after hours.
Boss: "Hey! How's that job comin along?"
Me: "Not as well as it would be if this damn phone would stop ringin and interrupting me."
That guy is the very epitomy of a delusionally self-justifying - and probably incompetent - boss.
He does say he can call you anytime during work hours he does seem like he micromanages lol

For office jobs? Can't see anyone being happy to hear from this kind of boss
God doesn't even micromanage like this boss does.

You sort of missed the point, and where Ben said "No that's no micromanaging"... did you actually watch this short?
To see if employees are doing their job, check the end of the result area.
The finished product is either there and complete, or it isn't.

If you can fire him, he's a client not your boss lol. That's all you need to tell him.
Micromanagers actually slow you down.
I would highly doubt that anyone was ever happy to hear from this individual. Also I bet he HATES working for anyone else.

OK, GO AHEAD AND CALL ME WHAT EVER YOU WANT.. YOU BETTER NOT LEAVE THAT BUILDING BECAUSE YOU JUST STEPPED IN SHIT THAT YOU COULD NOT AFFORD
Mirco management is faiure to manage. Either supply help or training or let go. If rining all the time, they ain't getting their job done
If your work isn't up to standards, you should be micromanaged. If not, leave them alone.
