Yea, I agree. Considering the cost of the M210 vs the L210 series I was very hesitant but really wanted to compare the sizing. Frankly, I'd be all over a 3810 in this sizing or if anyone made an equiv LV3 or 3+.
That is up to you and your educated preferences. There is a lot of misinformation surrounding plates, specifically steel plates. I suggest that you do a search on steel plates to learn a bit more. As for sizing, the previous Hesco L210 video before this one shows you how to size plates for yourself but I believe that this on explained SAPI. SAPI vs. Shooter/Swimmer is totally your call.

@@SoldMyHat Definitely a unique, non-standard sizing. My guess is it was for the not as tall but slimmer folks who aren't children 😂. I don't think it's an "upgrade" based on price difference and if the standard sizes already fit you. Maybe if you didn't have plates already and found that current size offerings aren't as ideal for you. If the 3810 came in this size I'd opt for that or another manufacturer's equivalent. The weight difference is worth the price difference IMO. It's like you're not wearing anything.
@@bunnyoperator I have some heavy level 4 plates right now. Looking to upgrade that to something lighter but still stop m855. I really need to keep it and the carrier to $800ish all in. Already have a placard and accessories so just need the carrier and plates. Leaning towards a jpc 1.0 and the m210. The single curve plates stick out a little far so they bump my chin if I look down. Wondering if multicurve would be better for that.
My M210 Small works well with minimal shift in the MEPC Medium. I can't speak for the Slickster personally, and it would depend on how precise Ferro made the plate pockets.

Being that small m210 (9x11) fits small sapi carriers, what’s the difference between the m210 small (socom swimmer cut) and small sapi in terms of coverage up top? I kind of hover between small and medium sapis as well.
SAPIs are longer and the shoulder pocket is more covered which might affect your ability to shoulder depending on your body type and position of shooting. I prefer to have a relief cut like on the M210. I find that the L210 cut is closer to a true swimmer and it's not my preference.

@@Aa-dr6ix In the video I am using a Medium carrier for the M210. Defense Mechanisms at the time didn't offer a small SAPI sized carrier and only an 8x10 specific carrier. Small SAPI is 8¾ x 11¾ but you need to reference the cut/shape. Plates are measured at their extreme ends so the 9" is the widest part of the M210 not reflective of the cut angle. Small SAPI's cut isn't as aggressively sloped.
Ah okay then maybe it was mislabeled cause at 2:44 it says M210 + velocity scarab small in what I presume to be sapi cut. So just to clarify, it’s actually a 9x11 m210 plate in a medium sapi velocity scarab carrier? Thank you for the help!
@@Aa-dr6ix That part was accurate. Both the Scarab Small, MPEC Medium, and MPEC 8x10 were shown. Image search small SAPI then compare to the M210 9x11. You'll see the difference. It's not much cut the SAPI small is taller and the angle is not as aggressively sloped as the M210 small. Frankly most schmedium folks can get away with running 10x12, it's just not as ideal. Hesco seems to be the only shop making this 9x11 cut, so you could just Medium carrier, 10x12 plate and deal with it. It's NBD for most folks and sometimes more cost effective but small SAPI is also an option if you don't mind the few inches of extra width at the angle cut.
Officially, DOD Medium SAPI is 9.5x12.5 and Large SAPI is 10.125 x 13.25. There are no official standards for commercial plate sizes and they companies can name their plates however they want. This is why it's important to confirm plate carrier, plate size acceptance based on the measurements vs nomenclature.

The size differences are because the m210 is offered in SAPI military sizing. The 8x10 and 10x12 plates are typical civilian and police sizing.

@@reecealeck8314 Approx. 9x12 so small SAPI will work but the cut isn't ideal for me for the shouldering issue, so the 9x11 M210 cut was more ideal.
