    Dr. Eric,
    I'm 78 and have been suffering from leakage and frequent trips to the bathroom (once an hour or 7 times a night). After watching your video, I realized I needed to stop drinking water and soda and no snacking after this time as well (6 pm). Within 3 days, my urge to urinate dropped to 3 times a night! I'm doing the kelge exercises as well. What an incredible difference! God bless you, Doctor!

      Eliminate or severely reduce Soda. At least, drink Zevia or a comparable natural sweetener Soda. Yes, reducing any caffeine drink, by 6PM or sooners is helpful. Zevia, except for their cola, contains '0' caffeine and '0' calories.
      Better to drink only water after 6PM or earlier.

    Great advice. Thankfully i've no urinary problems but here's a practise i've adopted: From a young age we're trained to pass urine just before bed time and i'd done this for years whether i felt the need to pee or not. Regardless i find 3-4 hours after going to bed i need to get up and pee. It's usually a large volume. So i abandoned the pee before bed method, unless i really need to. For me i believe this trains the bladder to only want voiding when it's full. I realise many men suffer urinary frequency for pathological reasons, but if you've a healthy urinary anatomy this may be beneficial. I find peeing when i don't really need to just makes me need to pee small amounts more often, whereas if i wait till my bladder's full i pass large volumes less often.

    I know you won't believe this, but I "stumbled on" most of this advice by myself. I am a bit embarrassed to say that I have been sitting when urinating for quite some time. My "aim" has never been great partly due to uneven flow. When I realized that I still had an urgency to urinate after returning to a seated position I took a few moments to stand in place before leaving a bathroom. Then I extended that to walking around my bathroom for a few moments. I still occasionally dribble and very occasionally have to quickly return to the bathroom, however I look forward to trying the pelvic relaxation exercises. Oddly, I assumed it was weak pelvic muscles that contributed to my problem.

    I'm not sure why I watched this since, I no longer have this problem. But, I did have it though, for over 10 years. All through my 30's I suffered with it. I'm 44 years old now & have been free from it, for just over a couple of years now.
    I can remember back when it first started, I went to go see my family Dr. Although, with her being a general practitioner, she thought it'd be best that I go to see a specialist. He did a physical exam & an ultrasound & then referred me to a radiologist, for an angiography test. But all that, only to find that there wasn't anything internally wong, that would be causing it. At one point, they even wanted to put me on a drug for depression, in the hopes that it would help me to be able to relax more. Dang, how I wish I had come across this video before putting myself through all of that shit!
    So, I began taking my iphone into the washroom with me, because honestly, I was spending so much wasted time in there anyways, just sitting there trying to pee. However, no matter what, I always had the urge of feeling like I had to go, even after I had literally just went. Sometimes my bladder would feel so full, but I would end up only peeing a teeny tiny bit. Talk about beyond frustrating, especially having to be at the office all day, while only wanting to be in the washroom.
    So like I said, I began bringing my iphone in there with me, since I felt that way, I could at least, be somewhat productive with all of the time that I had been wasting, by at least, going through some of my emails. After a few weeks, I started to notice that on those days, that I had been really focused on writing an email, that I would kind of, end up lingering over the bathroom counter to finish what I was writing. And usually within 3-5mins of standing there, I would begin feeling like I had to sit right back down again, to go. Almost everytime, I would end up urinating way more on the second time around, than I had on the first. I also started to notice that I wasn't feeling that constant urge to have to go all of the time, anymore. I believe what you called the technique was, "double voiding." Well, that's exactly what worked for me. Sometimes, I even find myself "triple voiding" if I still have the urge after I stand up. I feel like I've now gotten a big part of my life back.
    I'm so glad that you chose to do this video, since I know that there's a large number of people out there, who suffer with this annoying problem. Hopefully trying some of these tips will help them before they go & resort to putting themselves through all the tests that I did.

    I'll tell you a trick which worked AMAZING for me -- which I didn't even know I needed. This is when standing: rub/itch just the top inch or inch and a half of the crack of your butt! To put it simply, I had an itch and just scratched this area with my fingernail and it elicited a POWERFUL reflex that squeezed my bladder. It has worked perfectly ever since. IMO this is the same reflex we see in infant animals when their mother licks that area to make them go.

Otherwise, I usually go, and then go do something close by so I can go again in a few minutes, then I am good to go for an hour or so. It has become routine for me. I will try the rest, but it really isn't an issue except when traveling.

    There is another technique worth mentioning. When sitting on the toilet and voiding, when the stream stops, give your upper butt crack a very light tickle/touch. Stimulating a nerve there causes immediate relaxation of the tissues constricting the flow, and complete voiding of the bladder takes place. Sounds strange, but it works.

What's interesting is that you say to sit to completely void, which is the exact opposite of what I have to do. Say for example I had to #2. Obviously, I also #1 while that's going on. At the end, I feel like I'm completely empty, but as soon as I stand, I have to #1 again and I can only get it out if I remain standing. My ability to let it out while sitting is extremely limited. I can only completely void when standing.

    • @stephenfoxall9655
      @stephenfoxall9655 Год назад

      Not a reply but further thoughts:- When I want to go with some urgency I can not wait as I have to release quite quickly. I don’t know but perhaps this is also due to lack of bladder elasticity not allowing the bladder to take a further flow from the kidneys and therefore one gets a squirt like a release valve. The trick is to know when you have perhaps another 15 mins. My urologist advised not drinking anything for at least two hours before a journey or going to bed. The thing is your body requires about 2 litres of water a day so the cells remain turgid. Such is life. I had a laugh about Amazon drivers’ peeing in bottles in their van. Well when you’ve got to go you’ve got to go. 🤣🤣. (London lorry drivers have the legal right to pee against the near side front wheel if they need to and there is not a “proper” option.)

Tests were negative nothing was abnormal. When I urinate I feel like there’s urine left in my penis so I have to strain or push to get the rest out. It takes 3 or 4 seconds for urine to start even though I have urges. Sometimes a little urine leaks in small drops. I have like discomfort in urethra and sometimes I have like twitching or fasciculations inside my urethra. This is scarying me. I don’t have any other symptoms like pain or blood in my urine.

Here is something interesting, When I was relaxed and not doing activities like running or lifting weights. My symptoms got better. Frequent urination decreased and urine dribbling too. But 4 days ago I went to run and when I got home. AGAIN MY PROBLEMS . However this time it just took 10 hours for my urine stream to go back to normal. So I think my issues are with pelvic floor.

When I don't work, sometimes I have this problem also throughout the day. But mornings are the worst.

    Masturbation has helped with urine flow greatly. I once heard the late actor Ernest Borgnine make the same claim. I am 71 years old, my wife has serious issues with her back so sex is not a possibility. I also sit when urinating at home, mostly not to make a mess, I didn't know there was a proper position now I do.

  • @CringerKitty
    @CringerKitty Год назад +8

    I find that sitting helps get more out, but I also need to use a technique where I place a finger underneath the scrotum (where it meets the perineum) and give it a lift. That gives it a more "complete" feeling when urinating.

      No one seems to know about my method of intermittently obstructing the proximal urethra during voiding by compressing the proximal urethra just below the prostate behind the scrotum. This dilates the prostatic urethra where the obstruction is occurring.

    The content in this video is great so I'm sorry my first comment is about the jump cuts. With the color changing light next to you, the dialog splices become very obvious and the result is far more distracting than jump cuts that have better continuity. To finish your video, I had to look away to avoid being distracted which meant I missed out on (or had to go back to see) the visuals used in the video.
