    I'm a recent "adopter" of an X5C-1 and have done many of the mods. As my first foray into this hobby, I am very impressed with this unit for what little I spent. MAINLY, I'm writing you a note to tell you how much I approve of your support vehicle ..... a Honda Element! I've had mine since it was made in 2006 and now have just under 240,000 miles on it. You must join any or all of the Element based Facebook groups if you still have your Element as of Aug. 2018!

    Another great demo ! I bought one last spring without the cam but it is the upgraded version. Having a ball with it as you were in this video. My first SYMA was the X8c which I wired for FPV with the fat shark goggles. It worked great too. Now I have just purchased the walkerea QR X350 PRO.. and wow only have flown it a couple times so far..wired it also for FPV but havn't tried it out yet.. The GPS system in it makes flying a dream, and easy for video.. but I am glad I learned how to fly first before going to a quad equiped with GPS hold... thanks again for the great demo.

    Thanks for your actual 'user' review of the new X5C-1 versus the older X5C. Even though a seller on Amazon was selling the updated version, she advised me that there was no difference. I just placed an order for the new one, although not with her.
    Also, my mother is 'flying with the angels' now, but she would have loved this too.

    • @Quadcopter101
      @Quadcopter101  9 лет назад +3

      Wouldn't worry about getting the older X5C model anymore. They should all have been sold from inventory by now. All models being sold now are the upgraded models, although some of them may not be listed as X5C-1. X5C-1 was a temporary designation from Syma to help differentiate between the older model and newer. The latest upgraded models being shipped are just simply labeled X5C.

    • @RichieMeeuwsen
      @RichieMeeuwsen 9 лет назад +1

      Quadcopter 101 That would explain the confusion as to which one is better - they are the same. Oy!

    • @RichieMeeuwsen
      @RichieMeeuwsen 9 лет назад +1

      Richie Meeuwsen So if you are buying a X5C, you should really ask if it a new model or an old model from left over stock, especially if you are getting it from an ebay seller. Tres goofy.

    • @RichieMeeuwsen
      @RichieMeeuwsen 9 лет назад +2

      Richie Meeuwsen BUT, if you get a X5C-1 you are really getting a temporary designation model which may actually be physically older than a (new) x5c.
      (Sorry, but I cannot resist beating the issue to death - so attention, manufacturers - do NOT flip flop versions unless you want consumers to be confused enough to switch to another drone maker altogether). nuff said'

    • @RichieMeeuwsen
      @RichieMeeuwsen 9 лет назад +1

      Quadcopter 101 also replied "Wouldn't worry about getting the older X5C model anymore. They should all have been sold from inventory by now. This should help clear up a LOT of confusion!

    Just bought the Syma X5C-1 on the strength of this video and the recommendation.
    Its substantially larger than my first quad-copter and I have to admit, it looked a little daunting when I first got it out of the box but having flown it a couple of times in very windy conditions in my back yard here in the UK, it proved to be a very stable and capable machine.
    There is no way I would have flown my old quad-copter in those conditions so this Syma X5C-1 has opened up a whole new world of outdoor flying for me.
    Many thanks to Quadcopter 101 for the video and review.
    Very fast shipping from Gearbest Europe btw. ;-)

    June 2015, I saw this video and channel for the first time. This was not the first time I had ever played with drones, I had some basic Hubsan drones, but this was the first time I had noticed camera drones. I bought this one and was hooked. Between cute little nano drones and really nice DJI drones I probably have about 30 now. Now due to all the regulations, my large drones are now SHTF drones, but after a few years out of the hobby, it may be time to pull the old Syma off the shelf. Man those were some fun times! Even with the old 2 mega pixel camera.

You could meet your dream girl when you're at the grocery store this afternoon.

    • @Quadcopter101
      @Quadcopter101  8 лет назад +1

      +John Pirrone Yes BNF stands for bind and fly. It's intended for those who lost their original X5C up a tree, but still have the controller. But you can still fly with that. They sell the transmitters for the X5C separately also. But before you order an X5C controller, see the following. If you have a V3 or V6 control board in your quadcopter, you could use the cheap, but extremely long range X8C controller ruclips.net/video/AzsnpNNoUhI/видео.html

    I got one and we love it!! It's so easy to fly and gives you a taste of what is flying a quadcopter without breaking the bank... I tried to fly RC helicopters on the past and the experience was frustrating, but this guy was on the air hovering on the backyard on 10 minutes and after changing the battery pack I take it all the way to maybe 30-40 meters like if it was nothing! remember, this was done on the backyard of my house so any miscalculation will land or crash it on one of the neighbor's house or next street, but it hovers so smooth that just small corrections on the control keep it from drifting away or climbing too fast...
    The best part of all, it's that this little machine is just perfect to pull my kids out of the house and take their eyes away from TV or tablets, they got a chance to the control, hover all around the yard and record some video of each run to finish the afternoon watching them on the computer and laughing to hard landings and close calls!!
    (I just won an auction on a DJI FC40, so we can graduate to something bigger to fly at the park on spring!)

    i just reviewed this same one and its good the only real complaint i have about it is the LVD does not give your a warrning it just drops out of the sky so that kinda sucked a bit , other wise great machine, and i did find the max height limit of it to and it just drops out of the sky but if you are close enough you can shut down the radio and turn it back on and rebind in time and not crash ,, me i was a bit past that safty zone so i crashed but i got lucky it landed upright in a tree and i got it back 100 meters is what its good for but id stay under that limit for sure to avoid lose of signal ..

    Howdy, just wanted to let you know I flew my Syma X5C-1 and I thought it was GREAT! Thank you for the recommendation and I used your coupon to purchase it so thank you for that as well! As per your instructions, on my first outdoor flight in order to begin moving toward what you described as translational flight, I practiced my out and backs as well as applying rudder so it is facing me on the way back and then rudder to turn it away from me after it came back to me to fly it away. Very humbling experiences. :-) At this point I cant imagine being able to do banked turns and funnels like you do! I sure want to learn how to turn correctly so I can practice your orientation tips for distance flying, to keep me from loosing a quadcopter. :-)

    My first one took about 50 hard crashes before giving up. My second one took about 75-100 crashes before giving up. I am ordering another one tomorrow.

    I got duped into buying a X5C for an exorbitant price from Bass pro shops. It was my first drone so oh well. The one i bought was rebranded ,and called a striker drone by world tech toys. Even though i over payed it has been a great trainer. I have bounced it off buildings at full speed, dropped it from insane heights and it is still going strong. I have replaced all the motors, rotors and gears, However the chassis camera and main board are still good. The parts cost next to nothing from ebay. This striker version did not have the issues you mentioned in this video. Now i am going to move on to the X5 models.

    One of the best Quadcopter I have owned, great value, has excellent stabilization, and it is easy to control! A great beginner or intermediate level Quadcopter. Extremely satisfied with this Quadcopter! I also purchased 3 more batteries because one battery without using the on board camera is only 6 minutes. I also purchased the 808 NO.16 V3 HD 120 Degree Mini Camera to replace the on board camera because the 808 has better resolution and does not use the Quadcopter battery to power for longer flights!

    AMAZING!!!!!! My brother and I are definitely beginners. I am a filmmaker and I just ordered him one of these for Christmas. Looking forward to trying it out. I am relieved that I made a good choice of drone. Had no idea what I should be looking for, LOL! :-)

      Adele Celeste this is a decent drone to LEARN with but the camera picture is absolutely horrific. If your serious about making movies checkout the bebop 2 or dji phantom 3. the phantom 3 standard I've seen as low as 369.

      Yes, I understand. This is our very first drone, so I don't expect too much. Thanks for the info. :-)

      Phantom are too expensive for starter drones. When you feel like the syma X5C-1 drone is getting to easy for you. Try the syma x8g about 80£. They are good.

      ArcticHound Gamer No and no. As this is my first quadcopter I haven't ever had either of those things so I don't miss them. What I can say, though, is the X5C is a great copter and I've had a ton of fun with it!

    It was clear enough here in the Northeast yesterday to bring my X5C-1 up for a brief reconnaissance mission to take video of the snow pack on my roof, since we've had some leaks. Quads with cameras are definitely fun, but in this case I was able to turn it into a useful tool to determine where the most snow build up is and where to send the roof guys. Hoping for an early Spring (for my roof's sake and so I can get out in the field and fly my Symas!

    Thank you for the instructional video you posted. Cut my teeth on the X-11 and just received the X5C-1 from Gearbest. Using the code it was 49 USD delivered. All I can say about the X5C-1 is wow, so stable and easy to fly. Having a blast flying these quad copters. I'm still on the learning curve but can put them out and bring em back no problem thanks to you.

    Bought this copter on your recommendation . First flight without watching any how to videos was a disaster. Nearly lost it. The wind just toke it straight up.
    Watched a few videos on you tub practiced hovering in my basement for two weeks. Then practice flying around inside my house. I do not recommend. Stay in the basement and practice there. After 3 weeks went out side and had a blast with flying it. Was well worth learning on the syma x5c-1.
    You can fit snuggly 750 mha batteries in it for extended flight time. Thanks for your advice.

    Thanks for the review... now I know what I want for Xmas! Have you tried running two batteries parallel and just taping one to the outside or anything? I'm not sure if it would handle the extra weight, but that would be advantageous if it increase the flight time.

    I have a little Syma X13 with the little white controller. I would like to get the BNF model but I would imagine that like the X13, it will not bind to a DX6i. Do you happen to know if it will bind to the little white controller that comes with the X13? I'm not interested in a camera model in that I have a YUNEEC Q500 4K and that certainly meets all of my camera needs. Thanks.

    Well, I finally got mine and what can I say? I have a blast flying around the living room!
    Weather does not permit any outside flying right now as it is way too windy. It does not matter atm though, since I am a total beginner. The only other RC plane I ever used was a Silverlit Sport. Really fun little gadget, but it did not do much preparing me for flying a drone.
    So now I am learning to hover, and landing. I land and take off from the floor then land on the sofa table - and back. Rinse and repeat. I only got it yesterday but already it seems I am not as bad at flying it as I was yesterday evening. Heck, soon I might even be ready to turn around, lol!
    I am actually thinking about trying out the camera too, soon. An aerial view of my sofa would be something!
