amazing tutorial! thank you so much for narrating and having subtitles because I really struggle with tutorials that just click on stuff without saying the directions :)
Ive watched a lot of tutorials, and you're the first person I've EVER seen zoom in, so we can see what you're clicking on better. I've never seen it this good. This is soooo helpful, because even when you reduce the speed to 0.25, it can still be challenging. This is awesommmme.
Is there a way to save these effects so you can use them on other pictures.... I understand coloring would be different but could you save this as a preset
Marty your tutorials are great! I use them frequently in my classroom. You make it so easy for both my students and myself to understand. Thanks again!!
Another great tutorial , I am new to photoshop and kinda flaky with the brush, but hopefully the more I do it the better I will become , thanks Marty your the best
heipuntnl...Sure. No copyright is necessary for this. By the way, my most recent tutorials have correct captions for language translation! If the tutorial has a "CC" icon next to it, it means it's been correctly transcribed into English. Simply click on the "captions" icon at the bottom of the video and then click your language for its translation!
This tutorial is absolutely amazing! When I do the step with the smart sharpen though it doesn't remove the filter from the background though, any suggestions on what I might be doing wrong?
Your videos are the best on the web, but I still spent 3 hours on this today! Granted, I made one for my Indian girlfriend. Her darker skin tone makes it extremely difficult. Every time I would apply the smart sharpening tool, it gave this checkered pattern. I got it to work eventually. I didn't use that tool. Instead, I adjusted the halftone filter by increasing the dot size.
I love your tutorials! I'm sorry, but you're fucking awesome! You know how to explain in detail without increasing the length of your videos. Keep up the great job, man.
Thank you for posting this how to - I have been looking for a good tutorial on how to create Andy Warhol pop art for my friends. Also, your videos are very organized and easy to follow!
VERY EASY to follow along!! Thank you!! :) I am using CS5 for the first time, I couldn't find my paint bucket tool... But I just compensated by painting in the quick mask

Hi Marty, perfect tutorial. I have a question: Would there be a way to make the dot pattern (halftones) configurable, make it smaller (pixel size), or with more or less separation, etc? It's for small resolution (320x200px) image, that dots seem too much big. Thank you very much.
When I put the gallerr filter dot effect to the layer, both background and portrait are dotted. How to keep background as clear as it's in the video ? thanks a lot for good tut
+Kelley Bourguignon Either you're applying the halftone effect to the wrong layer, or you have the colours inverted, or you haven't deleted your background, or... many other reasons. Start again, and follow the isntructions carefully.
Same here, I think this is an out of memory (ram) issue, when I used to follow this tutorial in a PC I got the halftone pattern all over the image even over all the highlights but not in Mac
Great site and even greater tutorials have subscribed. may i ask a question?. i created the above Lana Turner pop art following your video. however when i export it as a jpeg..the file becomes very small about 650k..whats gone wrong? the oroginal is much bigger. how do keep the large size quality after creating it? thank you
Your videos are awesome as always!! Thank you. Could you do one that is just a simple silk screen dotted image? Or even like an old computer from the 80s that does the dotted images?
To transform a color image into color dots, just go to Filter > Pixelate > Color Halftone. To transform a black & white image into a dot halftone, go to Filter > Filter Gallery > Sketch folder > Halftone Pattern > Pattern Type: Dot
+Tethis Nomf Go to my RUclips channel & click on the magnifying glass icon (next to “About”). In the “Search Channel” field, type in, “double exposure”.
Hi, great quick instructions, and get to the point quickly. One question, when I use the pencil tool to colour the skin, the skin colour mixes with the blue of the background fill and gives a different colour. Blend for the layer is set to multiply, but is there a setting in the pencil tool that needs amending?
@@BLTV_Photoshop Thank you for the prompt response. I set it to Normal, then created a duplicate layer and set that to Multiply, creating a Clipping Max and the paint brush worked exactly as it should. Thank-you.
Hi Marty, thanks for this beautiful tut! Question...... may I place ( the selfmade) popart pic. on my website? ( copyrights?) grtz from the Netherlands.
First off, I love your tutorials! Next would this technique be the best to use my own photo as the graphic like in your pulp fiction magazine cover tutorial?
Matilda...I know it can be done on CS3, but it's been quite awhile since I've used that version. I know CC has some different locations for filters and icons than CS3.
Great tutorial! Im using Photoshop Elements 7 and I can't seem to get the filter to only effect the portrait. I've made sure that the background is completely white and I can't seem to get it to go away. It won't allow me to color the image under the filtered layers. Any advice? This tutorial is very thorough and to the point! That's why I feel this problem must be something of the simple nature.
Hi Marty, this is Pablo from Argentina. I love your tutorial. It was really helpful. If I would like to print my pop art photo in High resolution (acrylic print) what image size should I use? I hope you are keeping safe and healthy.
Since this particular effect looks best by working in a relatively low size and resolution, you'll want to make its final image 300 ppi and increase its size for the printed version. To prevent it from blurring at the higher size and resolution, play with "Smart Blur" and then sharpen it with "Smart Sharpen".
Great video. After I fill in my quick mask with the paint bucket tool, the line that I drew to make the selection is still clearly distinguisable. Any ideas? Thanks
The resolution of your image may be a lot larger than the one I used in this video. Whatever you used to make the line, try increasing its size. Also, make sure its opacity is 100%.

For mac's do you suppose to hit the command button and control ? or Just the command button?
The Blind Assassin just Command
Elisa del Pino thanks.

This tutorial is absolutely amazing! When I do the step with the smart sharpen though it doesn't remove the filter from the background though, any suggestions on what I might be doing wrong?
Wait, by taking a second look, I guess it shouldn't have been there in the first place, nothing to do with that step

Amazingly done
Hi Marty, perfect tutorial.

It's for small resolution (320x200px) image, that dots seem too much big.

hello wow a new comment
Yes, but keep in mind, the higher the dot pattern will change with its resolution.
Incredible, thank you

thanks a lot for good tut
Tuấn Anh Nguyễn same here
excellent, boss. i liked the way you explained it...
When I am selecting halftone pattern, my background is showing the dots as well. Why is my subject not the only part with dots?
Kelley Bourguignon I'm having the same problem!!
+Kelley Bourguignon Did you figure out why? I need some help on this as well :)
no I didn't, sorry :/

Before exporting it as a jpeg, resize your PSD file to a larger width & height and/or resolution. The dot pattern will remain intact.
Hi thanks for reply. So if i resize to 36x48 inches..i would keep the image quality or would i lose it? Thanks
Your videos are awesome as always!! Thank you.
Could you do one that is just a simple silk screen dotted image? Or even like an old computer from the 80s that does the dotted images?

im just learning photoshop, your tutorial was great!!easy and practical :)
tnx a lot for that very clear and detailed instruction,
Thanks. You always have such interesting tutorials!
Chirag Bhoj...Once the Color Picker opens, to ensure you're picking white, type in 0% for Hue & Saturation and 100% for Brightness.
Do you have also video how to make Double Exposure ? have seen some ,but they don't explain very good !

Hello! I have Photoshop CS3, is it possible to do this in the same way as the tutorial shows? Great video by the way.

Hi Marty, the white color in my CS6 is sought of yellowish. What should i do?
Hi Marty, this is Pablo from Argentina. I love your tutorial. It was really helpful. If I would like to print my pop art photo in High resolution (acrylic print) what image size should I use?
I hope you are keeping safe and healthy.
Since this particular effect looks best by working in a relatively low size and resolution, you'll want to make its final image 300 ppi and increase its size for the printed version. To prevent it from blurring at the higher size and resolution, play with "Smart Blur" and then sharpen it with "Smart Sharpen".
This was a fantastic Tutorial, appreciate it!
Thanks a lot man it really helped me .
Great tutorial
Great video. After I fill in my quick mask with the paint bucket tool, the line that I drew to make the selection is still clearly distinguisable. Any ideas? Thanks

This is awsome. Thanks
Thank you so much. Love your instruction.
Thanks for the lovely tutorial . Can this be done on any app on iphone?
Sorry, I don't know.
