To summarise: 1 cup basmati rice, wash it a couple of times to get the starch out and then soak in water for an hour. Then boil 5 cups of water, add some salt and a tbsp of oil, bring back to boil, add the rice drained of its soaking water. Cook for 6-7 minutes. Then put it in a sieve and drain out all the water. Then gently spread on a cotton cloth to absorb the excess moisture and cool.
@@hashimmohamed6415 It is a very good tutorial video nevertheless. I tried it this afternoon and it turned out well Al-hamdulillah. My mother gave me a pass certificate. However, I cooked rice for about 12 minutes.
My method: First soak biryani rice with water about 30 minutes, then take another bowl with water boil (half boil),add salt according to amount of rice, add 1 tbsp of ghee,2 cloves,1 biryani leaf,a bit of dalchini, only 2 black pepper,1 green cardamom, pinch of shajeera, pinch of soamp(optional).keep low flame,After 70% rice cooked drain rice with cold water keep aside for few minutes. Then biryani rice spicy and non sticky, non pasty.Have a nice day.
Ever tried a cup of rice followed by a little bit more water to go above the rice level, heat until boiling strong, turn off the heat and put the lid on, wait for the lid to suck tight, set a timer for 10 mins, oh wow perfect rice and no water, not even burnt bits
It's nice to finally know that this type of rice can be cooked and come out this nice. Mine always end up like mashed potatoes. But what the heck is le lenge
Alangie? Or ferengi? What is the meaning of this word as it was said over and over again? Well after watching this and soaking my rice 1st it did work perfect thank you

To all those concerned about the nutritional value of this method of cooking rice... This is how we had cooked rice for centuries, before pressure cooker was invented.
@@rachaelreynolds6975 You mean to ask if this is faster than pressure cooking? Obviously not. Open cooking always takes more time than closed cooking. Edit: Well, soaking the rice in water before cooking makes the process faster than otherwise.
I was going through comments, i understand people are concerns about nutrition value of rice after using this method. I wanted to clarify certain thing before you conclude something on your own. Method i am using in this recipe is traditional boil and drain method. This method removes extra starch, increases vitamin content, and generally improves nutritional value, in such a way that arthritic conditions and several other classes of pathology seem to benefit considerably. This single procedure therefore has health promoting and preventative value for many conditions. Decrease in sugar loading will reduce tendencies to obesity, insulin resistance, metabolic syndrome, and type 2 Diabetes. you can read more detail here.. www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3117313/
Dhvani's Kitchen I’m African American from the 🇺🇸 and I’ve eaten rice my entire life and I was taught to cook it this way as well. I never knew about the Ayurvedic properties. I’m making butter chicken with basmati rice for the first time and just wanted to make sure the method I normally use was correct. It was. Thank you for sharing.

I can confirm this method works for up to 4 cups of rice in 20 cup of water - 2 tbs butter and 2 tbs coconut oil - just have a large cookie sheet with a unused cotton tshirt or cloth ready after draining and you're good to go - as it cools each grain of rice gets solids - once totally cooled there will be no more stickiness

Step 2: Bring the water to boil after adding salt and oil, and add the rice. (take 5cups of water) Step 3: Cook for 6 or 7 mins in high flame till the rice cooks 90% Step 4: Turn the stove off and extract water from the rice by spreading it on a cotton cloth. Step 5: Watch a bollywood movie while eating the pulao you made so it will help you next time😂

But 6-7 minutes is not sufficient.
@@romanahsan agreed. This should probably be "cook until the rice has expanded and floats (and stays) on the surface of the boiling water".
