What I find sad about Doms death is that Cole and Baird weren't even there. The OG squad that had been together for years on the most insane missions. And during deltas mission, Baird and cole meet their old squad and eventually finding out from Paduk that Sophia was dead. Then coming back and finding out that Dom was dead.
I didn't make that parallel mostly because I play Judgement particularly Aftermath after 3. So really Baird and Cole were already not in the best mood. Then the news about Dom hits. This drama, tension and grief are solely missing in the Collation games. Another reason their games are far and away inferior.
@@spartanq7781 Yeah, im glad and love that epic made a way to tie into the current story then with aftermath. You could tell there was passion and direction with it, however with the coalition games there doesn't seem to be one and it seems all over the place.
Why do people hate Gears 4 and 5 this much? There is passion in those games, they have been focusing their stories just like the old ones mainly on the characters
@@daranaqelforastero319I'd guess that because there's a noticeable tonal shift. Some questionable direction, even if justified by already existing lore. To explain how Adam knew Myrrah before E-Day, Adams wife was exploring the hollow when she came across the Locust. She had written notes and was planning on telling the world about them, but before she could, she was captured and executed. Adam, trying to find his wife, followed her trail and was met with the locust, where he had a meeting with Myrrah. She explained they were at war with lambecy and that they had no other choice but to invade the surface. Adam, not wanting a gnlenocide, convinced her to stay in the Hallow so he could create the device he finished at the end of Gears of War 3. Before he could, the Pendulum wars were still ongoing, and they pressured him into creating the Hammer of Dawn, which made it impossible for him to help the Locust. This inevitably lead to them invading the surface.
Not to mention that the device still wasn't finished yet, since it would also damage the locust as well, not just the imulsion. But he was never ever to properly fine tune it so that the locust would be spared. And well, we all know how that turned out
also just for more info RAAM also pushed for invading the surface much earlier by letting the lambit take control of the hollow to force queen Myrrah to invade.
The part where Dom is just fine with dying was actually shown in one of the trailers where he gets knocked down by a locust. The games devs gave us a hint that his time would come to an end but holy shit, it was still depressing.
29:13 just letting you know, it was either in the books or the comics (I can't remember which), we found out that Tai told Dizzy to run and that Dizzy has been feeling guilty about it ever since
One thing I loved about gears of war 3 is beast mode and the characters for the locust. I don’t think you fight a single Miner or Hunter in the entire game yet we have both of them for Variety cause unlike Gears of war 4 and 5 we just have the enemies we fought and nothing out of the blue like The spotters and stuff like that, just made up enemies that we legit never see in story mode and variants of it instead of the same enemies with different colors. And Dom’s death scene still hurts me to this day
@@Saidan79 Maybe revolutionary in the sense that almost all media has just shamelessly turned to overmilking their respective cows, while we remember the end of a series wrapping up in a wholesome way, not begging for several spin offs or sequels.

Unlike Gears 1 and 2, of which I fell in love with almost immediately, I think it took me some time to truly appreciate Gears of War 3. I used to think Lambent Contingency was the biggest cop out to end the trilogy because they somehow managed to destroy both the Locust and Lambent in one foul swoop, and while I still don't love it as a plot device, I do really like how the road to get to Azura was a long and hard fought one, with significant losses along the way for our heroes (Dom's death never fails to make me tear up every time I see it). And even when they get to Azura, you really feel like Delta Squad is putting everything they got into getting the Contingency plan going, and even when they finally succeed, it truly feels like a bitter sweet ending; sure, humanity won, but that won't bring back their loved ones and it will take decades for the COG to get back to normalcy (if indeed it could ever be the same, again) perfectly encapsulated in Marcus and Anya's final scene together. While I still believe Gears of War 2 to be the stronger of the two narratively (Gears 3 is way too damn reliant on you having read the books to know what's going on), I still think it was a good way to end the trilogy. :) And that's not even including the sick ass multiplayer modes, especially Beast Mode and the new and improved Horde Mode from 2! Yeah I’ve heard from many different people that it is possible. Guess I haven’t been able to since I usually play on insane and they run through quickly. I should go back and try it out myself, never seen what it’s like holding them back
Personally I like Gears 2 more than Gears 3, but if someone said 3 was better I wouldn’t argue. Then again I got every Onyx medal in 3, so it’s not like it wasn’t an amazing game.
I doubt anyone will see this but a little trick is using a torque bow on the armored kantus. First hit them with a nade and when they scream hit them in the mouth with the bow and it one shots
Yeah it definitely felt like that for sure lol. Adam just had to charge and release the device. Certainly a different feel of ending a conflict, especially compared to 2 with them initially using a bomb and having to change plans to blowing up the brumak.
I think the formers are saying those things, from what I know, they aren’t *completely* transformed, so a part of them is still aware of what they are and that they’ve murdered their own loved ones or friends and associates. Basically the flood if you’ve ever seen the Captain Key scene where he’s being “processed” by the proto-Gravemind, pretty fucked up.
honestly, i love 1,2,3 but Dom's death was crazy cz i always played co-op with my friend and my friend was so distraught with Dom's death cz he liked dom and his personality, he always played dom. It soured his view on gears 3.
Gears 3 was the first and only video game I liked to play and beat. Thought the way the story ended was amazing but honestly when I played the first and second I began to fall in love with them simply cuz the missions were less linear and so different. Playing the third game felt like I was playing a cod campaign. However, I still love gears three and I loved the new features, great online gameplay that u can play for HOURS and not get bored. Proud Kantus enjoyer, all the revives were worth it.
It may have taken about a year but I’m happy to say Gears E day has been announced
When it comes to rewards such as characters, skins, and medals, gears of war 3 did it perfectly. Idk why they can't bring this back
Makes me sad everytime I go back to Gears 3 and then look at the way Gears 5 handled it..
Underrated channel
The story is on par with many games that are out today
"after Microsoft got money hungry"
Do you know what company you're talking about? They were money hungry decades before the word Xbox was ever uttered
True lol
I don’t know if it’s just me but I remember that it’s completely possible to hold anvil gate at the front gate but nobody takes about it
Yeah I’ve heard from many different people that it is possible. Guess I haven’t been able to since I usually play on insane and they run through quickly. I should go back and try it out myself, never seen what it’s like holding them back
Forgot to put cole train going down the slide very iconic
Damn you’re right! I do that every time I play that part too but forgot to put it in lmao
Personally I like Gears 2 more than Gears 3, but if someone said 3 was better I wouldn’t argue. Then again I got every Onyx medal in 3, so it’s not like it wasn’t an amazing game.
I fondly remember the beta for Gears 3 and getting the Gold Retro Lancer skin. That thing was such a flex back in the day!
The good ole days, when we only had to wait a few years for a sequel.
I doubt anyone will see this but a little trick is using a torque bow on the armored kantus. First hit them with a nade and when they scream hit them in the mouth with the bow and it one shots
I like how youre basically paraphrasing what jace actually says to the squad members in the game during certain moments
Watched every minute. Love this series and also wishing for a Fenix collection. On PC too hopefully! Awesome video, really.
Been waiting!
A swarm version of beast mode would be amazing
huge w
Awesome vid, thanks for goving a real look into whats prob my favourite 3rd person shooter ever
Biggest plot twist in Gears 3: Marcus has hair
Damn you're whole reviews on the gears of war trilogy is just peak
Appreciate it!
That phone notification you decided not to edit out of your voice recording 😅
Bro I can’t wait for you to review the final two games
Fam, after watching this video series of yours I'd be honored to run some horde with you. 👍🏽👍🏽
Yeah man sounds cool, been getting alot of people asking the same, might try it with a group sometime
@@willmelvin2351 you a real one chief.
My only nitpick with gears 3 is how convenient the ending was. It seemed like "press this button to win" and kinda gimmicky.
Most of all that stuck with me was the cover system, fun modes, and the gnarly ass characters dude. Gears is one of the best things epic has ever created
This man deserves a sub
Gears 2&3 are perfect to me, but Gears 3 is my favourite purely because of the Retro Lancer and how funny it was in the Beta and Multiplayer
Great video for sure
Thanks! Appreciate it.
This video is a masterpiece, subbed
I see you are a man of culture.
Longshot, lancer, boltok 😂
