The 3uz sleeves are NOT thinner. They are the exact same thickness as the 1uz sleeves. However, the block surrounding them, especially between the cylinders is thinner. Don't know how much that affects strength. You can check this out for yourself on Lextreme.
Its pushing it to bore out the 3UZ because of the aluminum block from what I have found out. I have an extra 3UZ engine out of my 2009 SC430 that was totaled, so I am building it up for my SC430 fun car. I may use a 2UZ iron block, like the engine that was shown on Lextreme which was re-sleeved so I can get 5.0 or 5.2, up from 4.3 using all forged internals since the stock rods in the engine are skimpy and not good for over 400hp. The early 90's 1UZ had really nice rods and that engine is perfect for boost. I spoke to the guy who has the Lextreme 5.2 engine he had done, it was using a Tundra crank and then bored/stroked. I want to build up an all motor 5.0 or 5.2 with lots of head work including larger valves with good cams, honed intake, headers and other needed items to see what I can get out of the motor with a good tune. Maybe after I will go the boosted route, but it depends. I have to have the same reliability and also it needs to smog here in CA. The owner of the LS400 with the 5.2 is elusive, and pops up and then vanishes. I asked him exactly what rods and pistons he used, but he did not recall at the time and then I never heard from him again unfortunately, so I am hoping to get this figured out by checking around.

as a GSF and RCF owner, Lexus need to give up on their 8 speeds (I know the LC got a new 10 speeds but still) and move to something that these V8 deserve. on the GSF and RCF, the transmission ruined the ride and somehow created a weird "turbo lag" feeling on an NA engine.
You're absolutely right there are too many gears and when the box goes hunting for a gear you get that sudden moment where all forward propulsion briefly stops while the computer thinks. It's a terrible feeling and can even cause nose-dive. With a powerful engine there is no need for so many gears except to create slightly better fuel consumption figures. Unfortunately that's consumer driven by folks who think that figures like 1.3mpg savings will change their lives over time when they're spending 30, 40, 50 and 60 thousand dollars just to buy the car! Its ridiculous thinking but I can't blame Toyota for doing it when super-goofy people will make brand purchase decisions based on it.

You stated that the GS 460 had a 1UR-FE. That is incorrect. It has a 1UR-FSE just like a ls460. The only difference is that it has a single intake versus the dual intake on the LS. The FE is only offered in trucks. The gs460 most definitely has 4 DS direct injection. I know this because I own one. The 2UR has Yamaha heads and was also codeveloped with Yamaha. own one 08 gs 460 .. 160kms on clock now .. get it .. rare as ... between 08 -13 only 1616gs 460s made for world market ... 2011only 55made .. so its a 1 of 1616 run .. a collectable ..will rise in value if keep it good ... got mine at 140km for nz $11k ...also got a gs430 2005 .... 95kms nz $10 000 .. just got last wk ... so can keep the 460on low kms and use as a now and then driver (has had a mini uptune ) ... use the gs430 (do a easy uptune, get few more hp and change g/box rev limiter , change , remap touge ,throttle response and lag ) done with a $400 nz plug in elite drive smart throttle ... and usethis as daily driver .. got a 2006 350 skyline coup too .. high kms now .. was daily driver but giving to neice ...

What about the 3uz
You are wrong on the LS and GS 460 The Lexus GS 460 only came with a FSE the LS came with both FE & FSE variants
There is nothing that can beat the sound of a lexus V8!! nothing! NOTHING
A Lexus v10...
@@KirkKreifels Well Played! How dare I..
As a quick note, the GS460 has the FSE, UAE was the only market to get the FE I believe. Everyone else has the FSE

Imagine a lcf finally comes out and its a de-tuned v10

V6 video?
Probably a 6 cylinder if anything. Can't pass up the jz motors.
2ur is also codeveloped with Yamaha.
I thought the 1uz 1989-94 was cast iron block aluminum heads 🤔?
Nope, it's always been aluminum. The 2uz 4.7 found in the Tundra and Sequoia is iron.
1st gen 1uz is my fav
I have the lexus ls430 2001 with 320000 miles and counting. Original engine and transmission. Original alternator and starter. I want to see if it will go over 500,000 miles.
It will. Just make sure u change the timing belt. 👍🏾
3uz-fe ls430 gang here. The only thing I want right now is to swap a is200 manual with 3uz fe and a supercharged. The project have been done by some russian but I want to make the same.
Toyota engines are the best in the world, they are smooth, powerful, quiet and reliable.
My 2000 Toyota V6 Camry Azura has the 3 litre V6 engine used in the Lexus ES300, and it’s quiet, smooth, powerful and reliable.
I believe the GS430 had the iron block. Only SC and LS had aluminum blocks.
I never knew the GS was offered with two V8 options... wow 🤩
3 V8 options! 4.0 4.3 4.6! Good luck finding one!

I'll buy it if I do :P
Love my 99Gs400!!!
gotta do more research! Majority of the GS460s actually came with the FSE engine.
Top 6? Weren’t there totally 6 Toyota V8s? I had a 2UZ and currently have a 3UZ, a 1UR and a 3UR.
as a GSF and RCF owner, Lexus need to give up on their 8 speeds (I know the LC got a new 10 speeds but still) and move to something that these V8 deserve. on the GSF and RCF, the transmission ruined the ride and somehow created a weird "turbo lag" feeling on an NA engine.
6 speed manual would have been a dream
Kirk Kreifels maybe a DCT too 😂
You're absolutely right there are too many gears and when the box goes hunting for a gear you get that sudden moment where all forward propulsion briefly stops while the computer thinks.
I’m supercharging my 99gs400 😎
that 3ur fe Supercharged 500 hp should be on RC F Track Editon

Love my V8 powered SC430 with smooth luxury power. Gas guzzler except on highway.
Not just the V10
Lots a mistakes in your info
Gs 460 had both 1urFe and 1urFse. Fe was in middle east. Fse was everywhere else.

Yes I do.
@@KirkKreifels You know any techs that have torn apart some 1UR,and 2UR with some insight?
I believe Yamaha is owned partially by Toyota, would make sense Toyota cooperate with Yamaha and vice versa, same way Denso makes parts for Toyota.
@@MidwestDIY nope, Toyota never even acquired a single stake on Yamaha. As a matter of fact, Toyota has been cooperating with Yamaha only when Toyota is designing sports cars, and that cooperation had started since Toyota was on its first sports car in the 1960s with the Toyota 2000GT
Sadly, 4 years later.....still no LCF
Does Lexus have more than 6 V8 engines? The company only goes back to 1989. It's not like it has some great historic past.
