I had an SV-650 as my first bike, a year later I got the FZ-09. I wheelie on it, I've hit 170, I just want people to know it's not as dangerous as this guy is making it seem. Is it torquey, yeah. Is it touchy, yeah. Can you fix that with a tune, kinda. But it's not so crazy that you want to get off when you get on. This guy is making it sound like it doesn't make sense for him to upgrade to an FZ-09 yet, and that's personal preference. But I was a new rider, got one, and i've never laid it down. It's fine guys, don't buy this clickbait vid lol. It's not nothin but trouble. I daily ride it to work and back, I carve super tight roads on it, and it;'s never made me feel like it's simply too much to handle. Ride safe homies

@@joeycarolfi9831 yeah bro I hit 170 naturally aspirated, now keep in mind speedo’s get slightly less accurate at that speed but I can guarantee I was damn close if not right there. Also remember tuning the bike correctly is really powerful. I mean the torque is nasty stock, but when you tune this bike dude, it’s nuts.

Exactly. This motorcycle is friggin awsome. if people still DOUBT , look at how many they have sold ! I have a 2018 model with standart Quickshifter ( EU ) and some bits and bolts. It's a blast to drive. Only bad part about it for me is that i ride WAY TO FAST TO MANY TIMES. No other motorcycle in this price range gives you this feeling. And believe me, i have tried many :-)

I have an 18 MT09 and the triple seems to be the perfect mixture. Extremely close to v-twin torque and still able to somewhat Rev like an inline 4. The only complaint I have is in the mapping. Any time you start to close the throttle, it completely shuts it off instead of proportionately closing and matching your wrist movements. Which causes that jerking sensation when you go to accelerate. Stupid idea bit I think it was emissions inspired. Lol

I need an ECU flash and tune to even out the snappy throttle, but man... I love to leave expensive exotics and tuners in the dust. This bike terrifies me, and I love it like that. Learning wheelies is difficult though because of how much power it has. I'd be more comfortable when I get a 2nd bike. I'm 64 & bought a new 2017 FZ-09 in 2018 & mostly have regretted the decision. Unfortunately I'm only able to have one bike & this is it. I wouldn't recommend this bike as an only bike or a beginner bike either. I've been riding since I was 13 & I've had sport bikes that of course had more top end but this thing reminds me of an old two stroke open class mx'er with its brutal power delivery. Even with a steering damper the front end is just too twitchy & to me the bike has a nervous character overall. Sure, it can be a blast to ride & I do like the low weight but it's just too narrowly focused in my opinion. The analogy I make with this bike, it's like a foster family taking on a very troubled kid with a lot of anger & violent tendencies & of course regretting the decision. But some people love that kind of challenge.

Yeah, its an addiction, 'if' you have the speed gene. I would say most don't even have it and are afraid of motorcycles. But those that have it, many times buy a slower motorcycle to stay out of trouble.
Keep the front wheel down because you have beautiful kids and they likely don't want you to get hurt.

Looks like a freakin fast wheelie monster, maybe too fast. If I owned one it would have to be ridden in rain mode all the time to keep myself alive. I've previously heard other motovloggers complain about the handling nevertheless I'd still like to get my mitts on one for a couple days test riding. The heavier riders apparently have a worse time with the suspension, I've heard the words "kangaroo like" and "pogo stick" applied.

I definitely feel you on making dumb decisions. I had a period where I was buying a new surfboard nearly every month.
It got bad to the point I bought a short board and still had a cast on my foot. And then shortly after, bought a hydrofoil and actually learned it with a broken foot.
Too stupid for my own good and definitely dangerous. But I took it easy and eventually it was all worth it.
I’ve since sold a surfboard and planning to sell more. The FZ is in your case, those boards I simply don’t need, but are oh so nice to have.

But the newer ones you have the ability to tame down the throttle response. So that way you don't feel like a hooligan every time you try to get on the throttle. Beautiful bikes and they're very to ride.

Legendary bike! You LOVE it, but don't trust yourself.. Yes Discipline is the issue. Just Turned 70, so I'm over any Discipline issues! '23 XSR9 here. The newer '09's include Fly by wire, quick shifter, and IMU to take some of the sharp corners off, especially with a Vcyclenut flash. It's that low down Yamaha Torque Magic that is scary (But Thrilling). I would say driving your Harley or in my case a Suzuki C109 Bagger scares me much more! At twice the weight and torque (850 Lbs, W/125 ft. Lbs), it could (and Has) landed on me!

Just moved to Korea, and sold my Z900 before I left. I see an obviously used 2014 MT09 for sale online. It says Korea specs. Not sure if that means it’s tuned down. But in Korea you can’t ride on the highways. So it would be all Seoul city riding or country roads once you get out of Seoul. You think this would be too much and a waste for mostly super congested city riding? The z900 was perfect in the states because I was always twisting her up on the highway. I also see a 2016 Suzuki gsx s750 being advertised. Never been on either, and not sure if that would be a better option. There’s a ton of bikes on the Korean second hand apps, but I’m not able to register on them yet. I’ll end up checking what’s available on there soon too. But between the two I just mentioned, for mainly congested commuting and possible weekend runs into the country, which is the better bet? When I lived here in the early 10s, I had a CBR250. That was perfect because I was able to run up and down the gear’s between every light. Decisions.
