I understand that the project file was ultimately unchanged, but where were the Style Editor changes saved to? Were they embedded in the drawing template file? Does this mean that all users will be alerted to drawing template file changes and need to update their local copies?

The changes in the Style Editor are saved to the template, but then they should be saved to the Style Library. At about the 5:50 mark of the video, I start the process of saving the new style to the Style Library. The files that make up the Style Library are in the directory identified in your Inventor IPJ as Design Data (Styles, etc). That can be stored locally or shared on the network. I recommend that this be saved in a shared directory in companies with multiple users. Otherwise, one user might change their's and not send an updated version to their coworkers. Because I used the template to create this Parts List style, this style will be stored in the template. However, when a user starts a new file from a template, Inventor will do a quick check to compare styles stored in the template and styles stored in the Style Library. If it sees any differences, it will overwrite what is in the template with the settings from the Style Library. That is why it is important to save the changes to the Style Library. I hope this helps. If you have any further questions, feel free to email me at steve.olson@mesa-cad.com.

How x y z dimensions take as length width thickness without exporting fx parameters

You could possibly use iLogic to push parameter values into an iProperty or somewhere else, but that gets more complicated.

where did you put that "stock location" properties in the model?

    • @3DSteve52

The Stock Location property is a Custom iProperty. If you go to the Custom tab of the iProperty editor, you can create custom properties on that file.

He forgot to tell us that. Too much time on styles and volt and didn't focus on the subject at hand, you have to go into ioroperties and add it in there.
