Thanks a lot for the excellent video. After having spent some time trying to source the plastic fitting you used, i gave up, and bought a cheap 3D printer (called an ender 3). Was 120 euro, and it has already paid for itself :). The plastics in 3D printer don't do too well with long time exposure to solvents, but for everything else plastic, it's awesome. Custom tool holder to clips on the bike, phone holder, cable management, etc. Who knew that your video would lead me to such a great tool :).
Just made of of these (after first making the BB puller) and it works a charm. My BB86 only needed the 24 mm piece which did take a crap-load of filing for the first piece, so I resorted to a chisel for the second piece and then finishing the job with a file. Many thanks for this fantastic (and cheap) tool
If you follow the Hambini channel, you'd think that the entire bottom bracket must be an extremely precise system. Then this guy comes along with landscape plastic parts. LOL Love it!

NIce job on your video and thanks for the helpful information. My possible helpful tip for you is: Try to use the file in one direction, without rubbing it back and forth against the surface being filed. By also applying pressure on the backstroke of the file, as you displayed, you can, over time, dull the file, (depending on the surface being filed).
The threaded rod you've used. Are those mild steel, aluminium or hardened steel? I made a similar one with what was available locally, but end up stripping the treads on the rod. But since I got it in a 6' piece, i keep cutting new lengths of them and making the adapters go around them again and again. Also, would it help to use brass nuts to do the tightening on the ends?
I will try to do it. Looks great. One remark that maybe will help somebody: cane creek 110 headset is so fragile that the workshop manual says to press the cups with the bearings inside. Of course only the outside edge of the bearing should be pressed, not the headset cup or other part of the bearing.

Totally impossible to find these tank outlets in USA. I can only find them from Australian/new zealand sellers. Shipping is atrocious. Can you name some manufacturers other than Hansen? Can't find any "tank outlet"s at Home Depot or Lowes
my bb is campagnolo overtorque ,so the bearing all already mounted on the cranks,therfore i only need to press the aluminum cups into the bb correct?@@stevenleffanue
the problem for me is threads, and use of adjustable wrenches, I sometimes drop adjustable wrenches I only use them for truing brake disks/rotors, for example for cassette removal I use Abbey tools cassette removal tool. for pressfit headset/bb I got park tool threaded long rod press, but takes long time to thread it, and easy to damage if dropped. a quick release or slide on system so you only tighten when pressing the cups in. and threading nuts in is even slower and more hassle than the threaded rods. this is not for me, but nicely done, nice hack.

Ebay has them from the U.K. and U S. Prolly better to buy a complete chain and the link comes with it. The link will last for about 4 to 5 chains anyhow.

Pressing in the both sides of bearing is impossible because your tool is not the best quality and exist possibility that you press only by inside race. So you should build tool which press only by outside race - then you have sure that you don't damage bearing. But other hand your tool (particularly with a soft rubber washer) is much better than tool with press only by inside race. 2. You can save some money if you buy screw M14 instead of long rod M14. Yes you can use a bolt instead of rod. Use steel washers on the outside of the flanges before the nuts....I pressed many bbs to test it and no issues. Thanx

I used to buy various metric threaded rod f4om a company called coventry fasteners in Adelaide. They may havve changed ownership now but many fastener suppliers should have the M14 rod.
Yes there is a place at Wingfield where I got mine M14 from but it isnt zinc coated,comes in meter lengths only and postage is $10 also. Just use 5/8" ... much easier Glenny.

Getting fine threaded imoerial is not common in the 1m rods but not an issue wuth this tool as you're not chasing minuscule adjustment.
At first, I thought the push block was steel. But it is made of plastic. If plastic is OK for building this bearing push tool, 3D printed parts are much easier to make.
I'm with you all the way, man, BUT for the pushing of ceramic bearings. Up your game and learn why they're NOT good for your bike-unless you have ceramic cups. You'll wear grooves in your cups, as the ceramic bearings are much harder than the stainless steel bearings. This has been scientifically proven time over time.

Hambini states plastic is good for pressing as it gives unlike steel or stainless steel which can force a bad fit.

Just ordered 1m rod, 10 washers and 10 nuts on ebay for €12.08. Makes less than €2.50 per tool. The 3d printed parts will cost pennies. Great job, Oz!

Cheap mild steel threaded rod is fine but the thread must be greased where the nuts turn.

BB86 uses standard 24x37mm bearings...no probs with this press...just dont go overly tight if your BB86 unit is plastic.

Oh yes. Good point. I mean 11 speed. Compatible with an 11 speed Shimano Ultegra chain. I can find the others, just not 11 speed.

Yeh,works just fine with ordinary coarse thread. You should be able to get the zinc nuts as they are cheaper than galvanised.

Good thing I've saved $30 on buying these press tools, that'll really make the difference after buying a $5000 carbon bike.
