  • A Senate subcommittee has summoned Boeing CEO David Calhoun to testify about the company's jetliners in an inquiry prompted by new safety-related charges from a whistleblower.
The panel said it will hold a hearing next week featuring a Boeing quality engineer, Sam Salehpour, who is expected to detail safety concerns involving the manufacture and assembly of the 787 Dreamliner. The subcommittee said in a letter that those problems could create “potentially catastrophic safety risks.”

If the statements that the whistleblower made are " inaccurate", then why have Boeing employees gone on the record saying that they would not fly on the 787 under any circumstances ?

You can probably insert "737-Max" everywhere "787" was used in this piece, and leave the rest of the wording the same, and this would be pretty close to what Boeing's claims were regarding the Max aircraft.
I am always amazed at how the spin on these stories gets started right away. There is no name associated with the talking head in this video at about 1:50, but he states "Boeing says these issues were taken care of years ago". What is the first thing you think of when someone uses that phrase, "years ago"? Well, this was in 2021 that the 787 deliveries were stopped for at least a year because of Quality Control issues that needed to be addressed. Not some ancient history, as they try to spin this as.

It’s been a catastrophe in the making ever since the merger with McDonnell Douglas. Boeing historically prided itself on engineering practices. McDonnell Douglas prioritised revenue. Following the merger Boeing executives were replaced with those from McDonnell Douglas. The only time in Boeing’s history have the employees ever been on strike was in the years following the merger and management takeover. They turned good engineering practice culture into financial engineering culture. Profit over people.
