      Phos9 with a 17 inch wide seat!!! Cabin pressure, humidity and noise level is great but I just don't see how a narrow seat makes for a great experience long haul. All they needed to do was make the fuselage 6 to 8 inches wider for a 18 to 18 1/2 inch wide seat. I just won't fly any aircraft type longer than 4 hrs with a seat that narrow. That's a stingy short haul width. I have paid for premium economy/business when flying the 787 and that is a great passenger experience.

    Great video. Thanks for posting. The Dreamliner is a fantastic plane to fly on I been several times. The larger windows mean that even if you don't get yourself a window seat you can still get a good view from even the aisle seat-and the aisle seat is good as you can go for a short walk to stretch your legs without disturbing anyone. Last flight I took was with Scoot and the plane was almost new and a very nice flight after having a nice stopover in Singapore. I'm looking forward to going again and will be flying Scoot again for sure they were very good.

      Is the 787 quality built or rushed? I have heard former boeing 787 engineers saying the plane is rushed and for profit, is that true? I hope not, I am just looking for opinions of people that have worked on 787s, Is it a quallity plane? Is boeing rotten? Are they trustworthy? Or are they just wanting profit?

      @@ngaviation3489 the engineering was rushed a bit and as most of the public is aware we're in the middle of those rushed effects. As far as hastily built we were on a 3 day rate for a few years but the quality is there and is getting better now that Boeing has the ability to use hindsight. Just to be a bit of a devil's advocate here ... when Paisley spoke about the factory now being situated where there used to be marshland ... the first thing i thought of was how we don't value marshland, and all that used to live there. It's incredibly important part of the environment that complicatedly sustains us all ... so ... you know .... probably good to keep in mind that marshland is not "just" disposable and a waste of space as opposed to a huge factory that now takes up that space. I love my planes ... but when she mentioned this fact ... it did make me wince inside. Great video though! :)

    @bubblebaath7840 Год назад +1

    i spent way too long writing this paragraph about the alloy they use on the leading edges and I'm kinda proud of it, its the sexiest word porn I've ever written.
    Aluminium 7085 is chosen for all leading edges on the 787, this includes the wings, engine cowling, vertical stabiliser and horizontal stabilisers. Aluminium is selected over carbon-reinforced polymers primarily due to its impact resistance. This allows the surface to deform rather than shatter or crack when struck by obstacles such as birds and hail. Specifically, a 7085 aluminium alloy is used for its inclusion of up to 8% zinc, which when paired with magnesium and copper, allows the alloy to be precipitation hardened, assisting to retard dislocations within the metal. Furthermore, inclusions of chromium improve corrosion resistance and help limit the stress corrosion that is often associated with welding zinc alloys. Zirconium is also added in order to inhibit recrystallisation, this prevents the growth of new defect-free grains, allowing the alloy to maintain its desirable hardness and strength characteristics. Finally, titanium inclusions are used to refine the primary aluminium grains, this increases the number of grain boundaries, resulting in a more ductile material. Controlling the grain size in this way also assists with corrosion resistance as having too many grain boundaries promotes galvanic corrosion, while coarse grains do not provide enough space or pathways for ions to travel through, making it difficult to develop a uniform passive film, thus reducing corrosion resistance.

    Ask to tour the "Gallery" in Everett. This is where a ten person team from an airline spends one week selecting all of the options. There are some 1500 choices to be made, 30 different service carts (reduced from 60 choices); 30 different lavatories, do you want a bidet? No problem. The waste tubes used to be aluminum but in testing a penny traveling 90 mph would not make the turn and punch a hole in the side causing a leak. Waste tubes are now titanium.

    I love aircraft, but the claim made by Paisley Matthews after 2:43 that "nothing existed here" before the Boeing plant is a misstatement on her part: marshland ecosystem was there, and some still surrounds the plant. It's not a matter of being PC in this regard, but instead that Matthews should not fall prey to the typical industrial view of the natural world, which is that it is "nothing" without man's intervention... and we all understand where that worldview has led us. That said, new plants by Boeing are eco-conscious, both in terms of on-site energy generation and close to zero footprint in terms of local landfill increase. Love the 787, of course.

    High quality product, leaving metal shavings in the plane, which could migrate into an electronic system and cause a short.

      Yeah but there's a backup flight augmentation system in case of foreign debris interference. No, this system is not publicized and only known to a few Boeing engineers. It's connected to a single, fault-prone censor, so it activates randomly and takes over all flight controls, and oh, it cannot be de-activated by pilots. Trust me, it works!
