Wow im 68yo brother ran across this video right. Its 6:07 on 8/27/24 just enjoyed some of God's best greenery 💨💨💨 and got this on the loop chilling on my couch with my eyes closed with this masterpiece turned up listening to it with my JVC ear buds! Totally mellowed out !
Warren is one of the best yet. Solo Acoustic, The Dead, Gov't Mule, Allmans next to Derek Trucks, Warren Haynes Band, anything he lends his talents to is amazing. I particularly like the Halloween and New Year's Eve shows where he covers other tunes. And he is a humble, gracious man, to boot.
I was blessed to see Warren in Austin a few years ago. I had no idea just how great the man could play. He’s up there with the best guitarists of all time.
Its truly a rare gift to watch such fantastic musicians get together on one stage and bring it together so effortlessly. They are precision warriors of music . Gives me chills to watch the pros do work. They dont miss a note. And with all the energy flowing to them from the audience it's very hard to concentrate in that moment. The energy raises so high at that moment that You are basically connected to the otherside of the veil where some amazing things happen to the musicians that even amaze them. Ask them about it. The pros all have some stories about things that have happened that flipped them out for a minute.. The creator is everywhere at all times pushing us to be even better than last song.
I met Warren Haynes in Ceaser's Parlor on Merrimon Avenue, Asheville, NC in 1976 where he frequently stopped by to jam whit the very talented locals. He's one of the finest gentlemen I have ever met and an outstanding musician. This is a true account.
I saw DMB a few times in the 90's and my only complaint, and it's a big one, is that Dave Matthews is notoriously OCD and wants everything to be played exactly right note for note through 95% of the songs. And he's damn good at it. He's an OCD perfectionist. This jam, however, reflects the side of DMB I've always wanted to see more of. I've always wanted him to take his foot off the gas and improvise a little more... and this song is it. This song is what happens when great musicians check their control issues and check their egos at the door and let the magical music play out. Well done.
What I love is during Warren's solo, pretty much everyone in the venue, on stage and in the audience is just riding the groove with Warren. Quiet, playing along, respecting the master at work.
At the Christmas jam a couple years ago. They did a full set of Neil young, Neil would have been proud. Warren is a great ambassador for rock and roll. Thank you Warren.
Hard to imagine any artist being anything other than absolutely thrilled to hear Warren cover one of their songs. Unreal, incredibly soulful and badass guitar playing + singing voice. He nails just about any song I've heard him get in on---- in both respects.
you know, a musician has to know that he's not only good, but REAL GOOD to cover one of Neil Youngs songs like this one and Warren, you are that musician....especially with such top of the line company with you on stage. as a Canadian i know Neil's music so well, and buddy, you knocked this one out of the park, and i know Neil would applaud you too.
I thought this was an Eric Buchanan song if not older... have no idea who wrote Hey Joe but seen a mid 30's prison chain gang clip of it being sung. It's all great music.
Neil Young its Neil Youngs song. OMG!!!! Warren you fricken rock. And, for you Dave, respect to you . If it weren't for these songs . Truthfully , I wouldn't have listened to your music. When scrolling(I'm a Neil Young fan ) I read "Cortez the killer" what? ¿?Dave Matthew's ¿? Let me listen. ........ WOW!!!! Much respect for you spectacular!!!! Never doubt you again.
neil young plus Dave Matthews Band and Warren Haynes what could possibly go freaking wrong Superior great artists playing Tribbett to the Sweet Old Man Neil
There is a Central Park Moment, my favorite, covering Cortez, During a Warren Solo, Dave looks at Carter with a huge smile and says, "He's Bad!" you can read his lips. It's Magical when Music does this to you.
@@matguerra333 I know exactly what look and "he's bad" you're talking about! I'm trying to learn his solo in that exact live version (he's also got some magic in the next song, Jimi Thing before Dave goes apeshit scat fired-up guy). If one day I can make 10% of that WH tone, I'll be happy.
Worth every note of every instrument. Thank you for letting me into this magic show Chester, Idk how you do it.... I love Warren's chops, his notes, his voice but he plays blues guitar and I love when DMB fuck w blues!
Warren Haynes is one of very few guitarists in this century who can make sound bounce around inside my head, almost the way Jerry Garcia did. Almost...
around 1990 I lived in Asheville a friend talked me into going to see Warren, he said he was in The Allman Brothers. he said at Christmas he always came home to jam. We went and saw him at I think it was called the 21 Cherry Club. I was drunk as a skunk saw him thought he was great but never really knew whether to believe my friend or not. And about a month later there he was on Johnny Carson with the Allman Brothers. and since then I've just sat and watched his career Blossom, so cool! thanks for taking me Andy Jane
thanks man for turnin me on to roy and that's a damn fine solo he plays for sure don't think id ever listened to him or should say if I did I didn't know it hes amazing and again thanks for the post I usually don't read these things cause it so much arguing over whos better or not good enough those types aren't on here to listen just to give an opinion that they believe people give a shit about lol rock on warren and u to roy

I could not agree more!
Warren Haynes . . . A flipping national treasure as is DMB . . . What a cover of a great Neil Young song.
South Africans also regard him as a natural treasure, he hails from these shores originally, but he found his musical soul in the US of course.
I was blessed to see Warren in Austin a few years ago. I had no idea just how great the man could play. He’s up there with the best guitarists of all time.
Yes indeed!
Warren’s combo of voice and guitar is up there with greats like Buddy Guy.
Hearing the crowd singing sent shivers down my spine. Love this Young song. Thanks for sharing it.

Love Warren hanes, a true ambassador for rock and roll, positive karma abounds, he is all about the music. Thank you Warren.
Never gets old. One of my favorite songs ever. Amazing how everyone watches Warren play
Whenever and whoever he plays with it, IT IS A SHOW!!! One of this ages greatest Guitarist!
Warren is in a league of his own
Warren is one of a kind...for sure...❤
Such a badass groove such a badass song. KEEP ON ROCKING IN THE FREE WORLD!!! I met warren haynes many moons ago in DC amazingly nice dude
I met Warren Haynes in Ceaser's Parlor on Merrimon Avenue, Asheville, NC in 1976 where he frequently stopped by to jam whit the very talented locals. He's one of the finest gentlemen I have ever met and an outstanding musician. This is a true account.
I am constantly blown away by Warren Haynes and Govt Mule. How does a band consistently do covers better than the original.
Pierre Lauffer, thats too much credit...
I 100% agree, done beautifully

Dang.. well said....😮❤
Dave crushes this. But in no way is he an ocd perfectionist. Far from it. Best rhythmic guitarist, yes, but he isnt a perfectionist
And the Man, Mr. Lassard on that Bass ! Epic.
What I love is during Warren's solo, pretty much everyone in the venue, on stage and in the audience is just riding the groove with Warren. Quiet, playing along, respecting the master at work.
capnbill99 Warren Haynes is a God
At the Christmas jam a couple years ago. They did a full set of Neil young, Neil would have been proud. Warren is a great ambassador for rock and roll. Thank you Warren.
Nice job, especially the horns mimicking “what a man, what a man, what a maaaaaaan”
Long live the original Crazy Horse
Hard to imagine any artist being anything other than absolutely thrilled to hear Warren cover one of their songs. Unreal, incredibly soulful and badass guitar playing + singing voice. He nails just about any song I've heard him get in on---- in both respects.
My buddy Joel taught me how to play this song he passed away but he left me so many priceless memories thanks Joel I love and miss u buddy

Just beautiful 👌
+Al Huggins Mr. Haynes played with Mr. Young on several occasions.
What does Warren not knock out of the park?
Warren could cover a Phone book , and has....Gov't Mule, proved that.
I thought this was an Eric Buchanan song if not older... have no idea who wrote Hey Joe but seen a mid 30's prison chain gang clip of it being sung. It's all great music.
Wow, what a cover! How brilliant is this line up? Magical!
Yup I missed this cover by onenight. Down by the river is my ultimate chaser
Warren has THE touch, like Gilmour, Beck and BB...doesn't need 100 notes a minute, to make ya feel it.
exactly
yep, it's not the number of notes but the spaces between those notes that count!!
Yepz
Agreed, a true master class musician. Having said that, when the time is right for that 100 note per minute shred, Warren is up to that task as well.

Got to see this live, breath taking performance all around. To see the lovely ladies and Warren was unbelievable
As A big Neil Young fan this was real good Great Job

Dmb needs a live traxs of their covers
The Bags groove theme from 9:16 on was quite unexpected and really nice
Mr Warren Waynes everybody!
You can soak up the atmosphere without being there...superb
Superb!!
There may be a few better technical players but VERY few have Warren's feel!
Great Neil Young song, OWNED by Warren and DMB. (Esp Warren's guitar).
Was at this show !!!
The fact you didn't acknowledge the ladies guesting is hilarious. I don't blame you. Well done as always.
That and about the only way to screw up a song that dave is playing is adding the ladies into it.
Maybe their names aren't readily available , as is often the case with backup singers
C'mon brotha don't piss off the dude putting up tons more live HD Dave content than anybody! CCopperpot is a national treasure and we need him!
There is healing power found with The Gov't Mule.
