Ok, I’ve been listening to the Central Park version of this for years and was just trying to find that online and found this instead. I honestly can’t think of a better use of 19 minutes than this version of this song. Music has magical powers and this version is suuuuuch a good example of that. Props to DMB and Warren and thanks for yet another drop in the cup.
This one is DEFINITELY better than the Central Park video version. Both are good, but this one is out of this world!! 😎👍🏾🤔

Hard to say ..they are all so damn good, but look at Carter, his smile tells you.. i am partial to the MSG @ NYC one, but their guitar battle here, well omg.
19 minutes of making sweet love is the only comparable experience.

The two best guitar players playing off each other.This is the best live performances I have ever seen.. Don’t forget Buford laying down those drums. I was at Bonnaroo and Warren came on stage and I thought my dream came true. Watchtower instead.
Tim’s facial expression at 15:20+ is a man on fire, in the zone, sweet spot and wheelhouse. This video is a culmination of every artist on that stage doing exactly what they were born to do. Absolute Masterpiece.

Warren has this magical ability of making just about any cover surpass the original recording and making it his own.

The incomparable Warren Haynes ranks with the all time great guitar players, and the Dave Matthews Band shows it can play with Warren. Tim Reynolds playing a dueling guitar takes this song into the stratosphere.
I was at 4.21.01UVA, Niel opened and played Cortez than sat in on watchtower.... Not a contest, just memories...

From 8:00 - 11:20 is one of the best guitar solo battles I’ve ever seen. Both were great, their playing styles different, they complimented each other and elevated the song to another level. No one won in my opinion other than the song😃
For this song, the LP beats the Strat. I mean the guitar not the man...
Both were accomplished guitarists and had nothing to prove.
They were playing off each other.
The ear to ear grins said it all.

Different feel to the Central Park version. Both amazing - credit to Dave M for allowing musicians free reign on their expression. Lots more technical and tonal complexity here - Central Park was so flawless and precise. Warren Haynes isn’t given the right credit for his ability.

When I lived in Lake Elsinore, Ca, I would often wait until the moon was fat and yellow, and she would beckon me down by the lake. I would put this song on and smoke ,slowly all the way through.

Graham Raymond the drummer is one of the best band drummers in the last 2-3 decades...top 10 easily probably more like top 5. Carter knows his way around a kit, can carry a 15-20min jam session every day of the week and flat gets down when needed.
This is what guitars were made for.

I have loved the Central Park version for years but this is the 1st time that I have seen this video from the Gorge. Both are outstanding! I was lucky enough to witness live the DMB & Warren Haynes do another version of this phenomenal song with Tim Reynolds also on July 19, 2023 at Jones Beach. It was absolutely incredible!!!!
