  • Learn how to make homemade fudgy brownies from scratch! Gooey, moist and delicious, this recipe for brownies is better than any boxed mix brownie you'll try. Give em a try!
    What you'll need:
    1/2 cup vegetable oil (120ml)
    3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (170g)
    3 large eggs
    3/4 cup white sugar (150g)
    1/4 cup packed light brown sugar (50g)
    1/2 tsp instant coffee powder
    1 tsp vanilla
    3/4 cup all-purpose (plain) flour (100g)
    1/4 tsp salt
    In a small pan over medium heat, heat oil and chocolate chips. When chocolate chips begin to melt, remove from heat and stir to melt. Set aside and let cool.
    In a large bowl, whisk eggs. Add sugars, instant coffee and vanilla. Whisk well to dissolve sugars. Add in melted chocolate and oil mixture and mix well. Add in flour and salt and mix until smooth and all lumps are removed.
    Pour batter into an 8"x 8" baking dish. Bake in a preheated 350*F oven for 32-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out with barely any batter on it. Brownies will continue to bake once out of the oven. Let cool before serving. Makes 9 2.5" square brownies. Enjoy!

    I made some just now. I didn't have brown sugar and vanilla extract so made without those. The brownie turned out to be more crunchy than chewy. This I think is because of the lack of brown sugar. But they taste really good. Thanks for a really good recipe.

    This recipe has never failed me. My pan is a bit bigger so I multiply the recipe by 1.5 I also use half oil and half butter (haven't tried using only butter yet, I'm wary of tweaking the recipe too much) I've reduced the white sugar a little but I also added chopped up dark chocolate chunks to the batter before baking. I like that the dark chocolate cuts through the sweetness but is still full of that chocolate taste :)

    Brown sugar is the same as white except for the presence of molasses, is not light just a bit different flavour.

    • @croutoncrackerjacks
      @croutoncrackerjacks  6 лет назад +4

      The 'light' part of light brown sugar is to differentiate it from dark brown sugar. Both just sugar with molasses in it but dark brown sugar has about twice the amount of molasses as light. And dark has a strong flavor that has a tendency to take over a recipe which is great for caramel and toffees but not for brownies which is why I specify light brown sugar in the recipe.

  • @kitty6720

    Won't the oil make the brownie oily? Can it be substituted with butter instead?

    • @croutoncrackerjacks
      @croutoncrackerjacks  4 года назад +2

      The difference between brownies and cake is oil and butter. Brownies use oil, cake uses butter. If you use butter in this recipe you will end up with a chocolate cake.

      Start with adding 1/2 cup of nuts and see if that's nutty enough. Add them to the batter after it's mixed and right before you pour it into the pan.

    and how to get super flakey crust on top like yours.
