    Until Digital Foundy releases their comparison, this is best video I've seen on RUclips that showcases the differences nicely. Most videos are focused on the wrong scenarios (lanscapes, chatacter models etc) where the RT local light shadows aren't there or visible. Great job finding details where you can spot the differences. Thank you!

    The consoles are running ray traced shadows only, but it really helps ground a lot of the tiny details and models up close. Not something you’d notice driving in the open world, but on foot and indoors it seems very noticeable. Up to you if you’re willing to sacrifice shadow quality for 60 fps. I personally would have rather seen ray traced reflections because it adds more in my opinion, maybe we’ll see RT reflections in a future update on consoles.

    It's really not noticeable when you're just buzzing around playing the game, certainly not to the extent that it justifies losing 30 frames a second. Weird choice to not do some kind of performance RT like in Ratchet and Clank, and Miles Morales - both newer consoles can absolutely handle it. Perhaps it would've taken too much more work on CDPRs part to have properly ray traced reflections and global illumination. Either way the RT mode on consoles is practically useless.

    • @BsERoss
      @BsERoss 2 года назад +21

      Would have to disagree. Not everyone is intolerable of 30fps and I find the ray tracing features a really good addition. It would have been even better with RT reflections but considering how stable the game is now, it's totally worth it. When Cyberpunk is all about the details, this feels like the right way to play it.

    • @robertgreally
      @robertgreally 2 года назад +13

      Different games, different design choices/trade-offs. For example, spider-man and cyberpunk are technically open world but the Crowd and Vehicle AI on Spider-man is very simplistic because the players cannot really interact with the crowd in unpredictable ways. However, cyberpunk needed a more complex crowd AI into the game since the players ability to interact with the crowd are more numerous and unpredictable. These are choices made very early on development and based upon the engine. Adding Ray-Tracing + More Advanced Crowd AI + 60FPS might of caused bottleneck resulting in hitching/frame drops or more serve resolution hits.
      Also First Party Developers get more resources and expertise with the hardware, then third party. Sony no doubt pushed Insomniac to include 60fps RT to help sell the console.

    This video is the best out there I've seen comparing the difference. I'm getting back into the game after the update and I'm looking for people's take which mode to play in. I've just played in both before coming here and I gotta say, I do like the RT mode alot visually. And I also like the 60FPS alot too. I'm conflicted because I just feel like RT mode didn't go all out to make a huge difference. The only stupid thing is if you play in RT mode then switch to performance, you can clearly tell the difference in lighting making RT better. However the 60FPS crowd would argue otherwise.

    Finally someone who actually knows what the changes are for the next gen version. It's pretty lackluster for the cost but it's still a step in the right direction. If they add raytraced sun shadows and reflections I think it'd be more than adequate.

    • @casuallydeep
      @casuallydeep  2 года назад +2

      I would like for them to add all the ray tracing options that are on pc but in 1080p resolution, I think it's a fair trade to lower the resolution in order to have more RT effects at once. 1800p with rt shadows is nice but does not make that much of a difference when you're playing normally.

And something seems to be missing, a little flat while playing in performance mode and now i can see why. It isn't in your face difference, it's all the little touches, all the little mostly slight differences that i noticed more over the frame rate. Also i'm sure traffic and amounts of pedestrians walking about are slightly cut down in performance mode too ??? I can't say for certain but it looks like they have. Everyone saying 60fps is a must a d i get it but mow that a UE5 game like Robocop Rogue City has dropped everyone sees how bad the 60fps mkde is on console, quality is the only way to go without sharp spikes in fps, maybe I might have to do the same for Cyberpunk on console, btw you didn't show the differences in fps stability durring heavy action or the amount of NPC's on the street.

    Hey man just got this for ps5, but I'm lost. RT and performance look exactly the same to me on lg 55 inch oled 4k. Is there something I'm missing here? Do you do any ps5 system level changes? Please suggest bro

      No, it's just that only shadows are affected by RT and in gameplay you rarely go that slow to actually see the shadows. I recommend you just play the game in performance mode since this RT mode is not worth it.

    Looks like crap I’m keeping 60fps for all that jazz isn’t worth it.

      In addition to that, we have ray tracing, in shadows, reflections and lighting :)

      “Pc” does not exist. Different GPUs exist, and in order to play decently with RT you need to spend 4 times the price of a console

      @Raxtek what the ray traced shadow has to do anything with 1080p or higher resolution monitor? Theyre rhe same resolution in both modes 😂

    When you make a video make a detailed how it was not working at you did not tag anything you didn't tell those which one was ray-tracing and which one was performance

      It's obvious which one is performance mode and which one is ray traced. No need to add any text.
