yes exactly. Fidelity is 33FPS avg but has annoying stutter on PS5. Performance is your Best bet or Balanced and HFR mode if you have the Monitor for it
Tbh, with the exception of very specific ground surfaces like the great hall at the start of the video, the difference is pretty small, I rather have 60fps. Some shots may seem like a big difference, but if you pay close attention, the sun was hitting at a different angle between perf and fidelity mode shots, not to mention some of these are completely different times of the day. The biggest difference overall to me is the crispness of grass, which I don't mind at all.
Why didn't you show fast movement with fidelity + ray tracing? Or some fighting scenes? I really do like the game, but IMO it's not playable in fidelity mode with ray tracing.
Normally I would completely agree with that statement. But in this case 30fps RT improved the visuals so significantly that it’s pretty immersion breaking not to play in this mode. It’s a super smooth 30 too on ps5 at least. Regular fidelity is pretty locked to 40fps if you have a 120hz tv too.
Even going from the quality mode it’s still ~44/45fps, but the 15fps jump to 60 makes it feel so much less jarring. I find myself switching back and forth though, like when I’m in the castle I’ll turn on fidelity (uncapped of course), but outside in combat or flying around the fps can really TANK, so performance mode it is haha
I'd like to know which version of ps5 are you using because when I use fidelity with rtx, it's choppy as hell and I can literally count the frames advancing
I'm playing on fidelity since the beginning. No framedrops until now, so its a stable 30fps experience totally playable. I'm not that sensitive against 30fps, so thats why

I don't even know what I have it on I changed it a few times but I'm tired of all the pop ins and crap draw distance. Even turning the camera looks glitchy.
I usually favor performance because I prefer having more frames over graphical fidelity. So, naturally, I've been playing this game on performance, typically the differences between modes aren't this extreme, so I didn't even bother checking. I am kicking myself! I should have checked it out! I may switch... For those who play in fidelity mode, how are the frames?
There is a setting to do uncapped framerate, on PS5 at least. Still have ran into quite a few unbearable drops , but really only noticeable when rotating the camera around quickly.
I'm kind of a sucker for visual quality so I might be biased, but to me it's not that bad for the type of game and it's stunning views, I'm constantly randomly smiling at the game because of how beautiful it looks with RT lol although if you've been playing at performance, you'll surely feel it weird right after, but you get used to it (at least I did). I watched in a comparison video that RT mode actually runs in a lowest of 30 fps, highest around 55, and the game is constantly at around 45 fps (that in ps5 tho) so it's not thaaat bad. Though there is some stuttering from time to time (hopefully fixed in future update) but not a game breaker
Wish you could show the outdoor comparison on the same weather/time/fog volume. Some of the comparison can be quite misleading because of the different position of light source and how it interact with fog.
On PS5, the Fidelity ray tracing runs at a pretty stable 30 in my experience. Not a single stutter, and it feels more like other games’ 45 fps, there’s no jittering. Worth it imo
I've noticed some drops sometimes but honestly it's well worth it. For it to run that good on ps5 is impressive and I usually prefer performance over graphics but this time can't deny that the experience of fidelity RT is worth the fps drops for this game

When you make these videos, you need to make sure it's the same time of day in game to have an accurate and effective comparison in outdoor scenes. Like, create a save, then load that save once with performance and then again with ray tracing. This should be pretty straight forward.

Fidelity with ray tracing has costed me some FPS and noticeable flickering. Not sure if that’s just the current performance, or that setting in particular. Switching back to Fidelity to see if it’s still the same. This is on Series X btw
You have a lot of raised blacks going on with this footage. All your shadows here look washed out compared to what it should look like. Did you change the gamma settings? It doesn't look right in either mode here.
The combat is actually pretty fast-paced and a bit challenging later in. 30fps is doable but not desirable. If you have a 120hertz screen, I'd say use the Balanced mode. It's plenty sharp, and it's the most stable of all the modes. I hardly ever get any noticeable stutter. And it's WAY smoother than 30fps. The frame timing at 40fps actually lands right between 60 and 30fps. So it's a nice playable fps and looks almost as sharp as fidelity most of the time. Ray tracing is nice, but I don't even notice it when not specifically looking for it. So if a game can't run RT at higher fps, I don't bother with it. I prefer a faster fps and higher resolution. Though Insomniac does a great job with their RT modes. Without a 120 hertz screen I don't know what to recommend. Performance is a bit too blurry, and fidelity is too choppy. 100% on slowly moving the camera. If you compare the visual aspect of performance to fidelity w/RT, then yes fidelity wins cus you're making a monkey race a fish up a tree. What is fidelity exactly? and performance is referring to higher fps? Sorry if its a dumb question
yes exactly.
I noticed that too he used direct times of day and it made fidelity look better. All these people are trippin 60 fps is the way to go
Why didn't you show fast movement with fidelity + ray tracing? Or some fighting scenes? I really do like the game, but IMO it's not playable in fidelity mode with ray tracing.
Facts I tried it on my ps5 and I chose the hpr performance that’s that best option tbh with you the way the game play performance is the best option 💯
Trust me, frames is a lot more important than quality especially when the difference goes from 20-30fps to 60+fps
@@chrisb7161 lol
Even going from the quality mode it’s still ~44/45fps, but the 15fps jump to 60 makes it feel so much less jarring. I find myself switching back and forth though, like when I’m in the castle I’ll turn on fidelity (uncapped of course), but outside in combat or flying around the fps can really TANK, so performance mode it is haha
@@chrisb7161I agree with quality difference being huge but when you're in combat the amount of frames you get with quality really it brings it down

This game is a shame
