@@lyfe8349yea, before it was there but now it's extremely noticeable. This was a major downgrade Visually. Think I'll stick solely to Starfield and let them patch the game up a few more times.
Thank you for bringing some much needed attention to the FSR 2.1 & DRS issue on the Xbox consoles Oliver. I have another vid on my channel showing the issue. If anyone has this problem regarding the break up of FSR and then re-resolving over the next few frames, which I am fairly certain all Xbox Series players will have, and it bothers you please take a moment and file a bug report on the official forums. The developers as far as I understand are still looking into the problem since it was introduced in patch 1.61
It exists on ps5 too. I can purposely activate the glitch when you drive to a hologram billboard above you or next to you can see the fsr really break. The fsr 2.2 mod on pc really fixes shimmering on fine edges. Also there's mip map issues that should get fixed like road lines not loading in futher away and end up looking all flickering. If cdpr worked on the image quality they could get it looking much much better.
@@12coco100I can't believe CDPR had 3 years to get this game to run better on consoles and it still runs poorly on both Xbox and PS5. I'm on Series X and I wasn't impressed with the performance on that console. CDPR have negleted to get the best performance out of consoles leaving a lot of degraded visuals and fps drops. The game is great no doubt on PC, but on consoles it's a joke. I hope they fix all performance issues across both platforms as this game; I feel, could play better on current gen consoles.
The PC version obviously looks stunning on the right hardware but this still looks very impressive on consoles I think. I played the ps5 upgrade last year and enjoyed it a lot
Absolutely, the Series X version also look beautiful (actually the PC version can be somewhat annoying to setup since finding optimized settings can be a bisch).
Yea the standard fsr on ps5 when in motion the resolution is just flat terrible. I’d rather play on my ultrawide pc that’s 25060x1080 and max out cyberpunk it looks faaar sharper than cyberpunk even at 1440 on ps5
@@originalityisdead.9513 fsr2 looks super good until about 75% resolution scale. you can barely tell the difference from native. the problem is that quality fsr starts at 67%, where it's already pretty visibly worse. so there is really no preset in which it looks "good". plus consoles love to upscale from 50% which looks awful
@@hypno18s I'm really looking forward to FSR3, AMD is awesome. I'm using DLSS3.5 right now though and it runs great on this game. I WONDER - if my monitor only does 60hz at 4k/HDR and my GPU is already producing 60+fps, is DLSS smart enough to pick the non-AI-generated frames to display? I don't notice the artifacts I was expecting to see with 3.5...
4:26 "sometimes" No, it's constant. And it's still very obvious in performance mode too. That issue has been in the main game on Xbox Series for a very long time, as well as constant stutter/hitching in performance mode and FreeSync being completely broken. People keep acting like the game is so polished now, but I think that's only because of the contrast effect from having launched in such a catastrophic state. The game is STILL one of the least polished that I've played on XSX, and riddled with bugs and technical issues. It took them until 2.0 just to get billboard textures to stream properly in first person driving mode (this applied to all platforms), a bug that existed since day 1. Wish you guys would do a proper deep dive into the XSX performance mode framerate drops and stutter in the main game, because you greatly understated how bad that was in your previous videos. And why is Freesync non-functional on XSX when it works perfectly in TW3 remaster (same engine and devs).
I would have to agree with this. The FSR issue is a constant and consistent issue. Absolutely no plug intended, but I uploaded a recent vid trying to show how prevalent it is. It's definitely worse while driving and far more noticeable at night with lots of light sources. But it does happen in the daytime as well whether walking or driving. In my experience it happens just as much in performance mode as it does in quality. Also in my experience as Oliver mentioned, it does not happen on the PS5 version. It does happen on PC though If you use FSR and enable DRS. If it does happen on PS5 and I have missed it in my testing, it must be incredibly rare. The only thing people can do is post on some of the current official forum topics related to the issue and file a bug report via the official forums.
It is very telling. They have made sweeping changes to the game, and yes it's better. But right now the game is prepared to die a death by 1000 cuts. It's the small things they need to focus on now. If they don't then it's all a waste.
Playing on PS5 here, RT mode. Im quite surprised by DF suggestion that local RT shadows don’t bring much to the table. With so much happening inside, the difference can be really visible. Everything is more grounded and doesn’t look as flat as performance mode. I’d rather have the 60fps but in this case, the RT looks just beautiful, even if it’s just local shadows. Amazing job, CDPR
I agree, it would've been nice to be reminded of the difference between RT shadows and not in this video. But having checked out another, especially at night like you say it is noticeable and grounds everything, including litter on the floor...
The problem is that the PS5 is only able to do the medium settings at best.... You literally need an Nvidia GPU to truly see the beauty of this game And that is why they're not impressed, I play mine all day 4080 in overdrive and it just looks jaw-droppingly It makes this look like a beta test😅
@@brandonleemossWell, the cost of a RTX 4080 plus the components to support it properly VS. the cost of a console. Yeah. You can spend your way to the top on PC.
Btw. Oliver, you are doing amazing job on these videos. You may cover things faster (shorter videos) but it is your own distinctive style and I like it. Thank you!
The absolute worst part is all the frame drops when you're in the open world, especially during driving. Trying to enjoy this nice big city and everything is stuttering. These consoles either need to get more powerful, have quicker mid generation refreshes to keep up with technology, or just have everybody move to PC. The performance issues are absurd on these things and the technology is already ancient.
One thing I'd like to point out (especially compared to Starfield) is that the world, despite being massive, has pretty much zero loading screens. So whatever streaming tech they have implemented must impact the performance (and potentially tax the cpu, therefore explaining the frame drops) while rapidly traversing through the city. All in all, I'd say it's pretty impressive.
@@TheBatosai I feel the same abot Cyberpunk, it has no soul. You play as a premade character on a premade story, night city is empty with the same NPCs copy pasta and no interiors to buildings. It's basically streets with billboards.
@@ThisisCitruswhat game does not have a premade story? All bethsada games have a specific story in them and premade paths or decisions. Same with cyberpunk and starfield.
@@bombyo3634 Games where you can be who you want to be. Starfield, Skyrim, Fallout you create a character and can make decisions and play different. You're playing a movie that is already written.
I think the new driver/vehicle AI is causing some (not all) of these wild FPS drops on console. CDPR has stamped out a lot of bugs, but now the traffic situation is out of control broken at times, with frequent and hilarious chaos taking over at random. Cyberpunk always had goofy car glitches, sure... but it was never quite this bad before, in over 100hrs of play. The occasions are so dramatic and frequent now that its hard to dismiss, and while The Glen and City Center seem most prone to this behavior, it definitely happens around Watson too. Really though, barring a big patch this morning (the 26th)... I challenge anyone on console to thoroughly play in busy areas and NOT notice multiple, wild vehicle glitches- cars piling up, cars spontaneously exploding, NPCs driving along happy in burned-out wrecks, or casually abandoning their vehicle in oncoming traffic. Its ridiculously common now, and way more prevalent than 1.6. Sunday I streamed a session for my friends that involved DOZENS of wild traffic interactions, with many causing immediate dips and endless laughs. Often, when I experience unusual FPS drops in familiar areas, I can find some of this comedy gold nearby. There is just no way this level of AI and physics dysfunction ain't causing issues. I really think this is condition in some of the wildly variable performance in crowded zones (and why a restart might fix it).
I'm playing CP for the first time on the Series X and - while I love pretty much everything about the game (it speaks to me on so many levels... I didn't feel this engrossed by a sci-fi action RPG since the original Mass Effect on the Xbox 360) - I confirm that the random mayhem on Liberty City's street is that one major smear that can get distracting, at times, breaking up the sense of immersion. From police cars running into pedestrians to regular ones suddenly slamming into each other or changing route in the silliest way, crashing into my vehicle for no reason... That, and of course the temporal scaling-induced flashing, especially at night. Really hope this one will get patched, eventually.
Great continued work by CDPR, and these new consoles are really showing their strengths. While they cannot do DLSS 3.5 (or any) as mentioned, definitely a playable experience for a HEAVY game to run on PC!
The Series S GPU and VRAM quantity/bandwidth hampers the cross-platform effort, but thank fuck Microsoft didn't gimp the Series S CPU. The Series S CPU absolutely destroys the One X CPU, which allows it to receive WAY more solid 60fps modes than the One X managed, with its handicapped Jaguar CPU.
Hopefully. It's a very demanding game using a somewhat dated engine which will soon be obsolete. They're doing a very good job with these updates though.
I don’t think a game that’s 3 years old can be considered a classic lol heck, in order to get the classic license plate for your car, it has to be at least 15 years old
Those guys suck at developing games, 1440p on next gen consoles on a last gen game. It doesn't have as much detail as RDR2, runs terribly, and doesn't look as good as most recent last gen and next gen games, especially on console. The base map is empty outside of NC
@@deathtrooper2048 you can't really compare the 2 games. RDR2 isn't set in a dense future urban environment full of countless skyscrapers, vehicles, and NPC's all being accurately lit by ray tracing. And you travel much faster in a car or bike than on a horse
@@bineshrb6446 RDR2 has a bigger map and was delayed less times (2077 started development around 2012 btw). Farcry 5 or Fallout 4 has more detail than 2077 if you want another example.
Finally you guys addressed the FSR flickering & artifacting on the Series consoles!!!! This problem exists since the introduction of FSR 2.1 with the update 1.61.... And CDPR just doesn't do anything about it. That this bug has been around for almost a year now is very frustrating....
If it helps you try to disable "Depth of field", after disabling it I noticed that FSR flickering is not that prominent at least, especially in PERF mode. Also I disabled Film Grain and Motion blur
On PC this artifact happens when you have Dynamic Resolution enabled. I imagine that this is what is happening on consoles, whenever the game changes the internal resolution, the FSR flickers.
@@ThiagoJaqueta Just checked it on my PC, so I enabled DRS but didn’t touch FSR or any other upscalers and its flickering the same as on Xbox, seems like the issue is with their DRS implementation🤔
For frame drops when driving or in crowded areas, I’ve found that restarting the game seems to help and make the experience more fluid. Maybe it’s some memory or caching issue after hours of gameplay? I’m playing on PS5, for the record.
In my experience on the ps5 85% of the time the frame rate is stable other times it drops into the 20s, Only other issue is the crashing and infinite save icon which causes the game to crash, what seems to be issues with popin/low render distance, Possible memory leak, Black artifacting that takes up the screen then slow fades within textures and fixes itself But other than that it’s decent.
I play on a laptop with an intel i7 11h series cpu, 16gb ram and an Nvidia rtx3050ti 4gb vram and patch 2.0 made my overall gameplay smoother. Nvidia Geforce Experience auto-sets the graphics at a higher level than before and Cyberpunk 2077 maintains higher than 30fps and if I lower the settings slightly I can maintain a mostly stable 60fps. Before the patch I could only keep a framerate of 30fps at medium settings and 60fps on low settings with dlss on if I lowered the output resolution to 900p.
I really dislike that even big channels like Digitial Foundry still spread misinformation about the reason why Sony pulled Cyberpunk out of PS Store. It wasn't because game was broken, because there were (and still are) way more broken games (and tons of shovelware) on PS Store. Game was pulled because CDPR started to offer refunds for anyone who would request one, which is against Sony's politics when it comes to refunds on PS Store (those rules are pretty garbage and anti-consumer even to this day).
Yeah, I don’t know why that is the default narrative. It makes Sony look good when in reality they would have never pulled the game from the store had CDPR not offered refunds to people. That probably pissed Sony off with their terrible customer service and stance on no refunds for any reason. This is the same company that will threaten to ban your account (resulting in you losing access to any digital games you purchased) should you ask for more than one refund and will shadow ban you from even accessing customer services. I don’t know why Sony and Nintendo get away with having no refund system when Steam and Xbox both have them.
I wonder why more devs don't include 120hz modes. After playing Ratchet & Clank, GoW:Ragnarok and Spiderman 2 on 40fps it feels bad going backwords to 30fps. Beautiful looking games deserve to show off their stuff without sacrificing gameplay performance.
Ahhh finally DF address the artifracting on series x that’s been there since 1.6.1 the shimmering and flashing is super annoying surprised it hasn’t been fixed there’s ways to reduce it from happening by toggling all the graphics options on (motion blur, etc)
@@marturomano "...give the devs massive kudos on the art team..." I'm giving the devs exactly zero kudos for anything in relation to this dumpster fire of a game. Shill harder for a cherry picked slice of a busted production why don't you😂
Yah I’m so glad they didn’t just abandon the IP. It has so much potential. Loved the first game actually and really looking forward to the sequel. Despite the overwhelming backlash they managed to go heads down and actually transform the game into something people seem to love now. More than most devs would do.
To be fair, this generation has had a lot of terrible releases with regards to graphical fidelity and optimization. And as for Cyberpunk specifically, the non-RT reflections and local shadows _can_ look *terribly* distracting at times (especially indoors). With that said, Cyberpunk absolutely should be praised for just how beautifully crafted the world is.
I noticed on the PS5, vehicle and crowd density are drastically increased when playing on Ray tracing mode. Playing on performance mode reduces it significantly.
I've been having 7 hour straight runs on my Series X and I almost never notice any drops in performance mode, I don't what go many people are talking about.
Looks great! I would like to see less flipping back and forth between each console, and instead focusing on each console first. Starting off with the Series S, Series X, PS5, then ending with the PS5 vs Xbox side-by-sides, which will help make things less complicating. Lastly, you have to cover the bugs. It is not nearly as bad as the release version, but saying you didn't see many noticable bugs is very strange to hear. There are still bugs, and you should never skip over them. There has never been a game released, that didn't have a bug, so you should be pointing them out when you see it. Other than that, it was a fantastic review. Cheers! 🍻
I've been loving it since day one been playing since day one I've seen all the problems people had at launch I didn't suffer most of that maybe because my pro had an SSD in it
i'd rather have a native 4k or something closer to it at 30fps than this ray tracing mode. But the game looks good on performance mode. The only thing that bothers me are those shader pop ins.. idk if it is exacly a shader thing, but you can see it here 5:20. The ambient gets darker as you keep moving
The new vignette needs a toggle option. I already have issues with my vision in low light, and this has really affected my enjoyment of the experience. I love the game but it's making me strain my eyes so much.
I bought Cyberpunk at launch and tried starting it maybe 3 or 4 times over the years. I blew away all my half-ass save files and started from scratch last week. Feels like a completely different game. Finally something I think I can get through and may even get the DLC
I'm having a blast with this game on PS5. No issues at all except seeing this one item floating in the air or dead bodies still slightly moving or the same - being in the air. I hope they will still release some minor patch to address those problems.
@@lifeisdead01 They meant content patches. We already know they are working with nvidia to at dlss 3.5 support to regular ray tracing rather than just overdrive. Also atleast a single bug fixing patch is expected for a content update of this size.
Maybe VRR isn‘t supported by the game natively, but I have VRR enabled in the PS5 settings also for games that don‘t support it and after 10 hours, update 2.0 felt really smooth for me.
I downloaded the 5-hour trial from PS+ and ended up buying it about 2 hours in. This was definitely one of those "Why didn't I play/buy this sooner?" moments. Then I reminded myself that this is a vast overhaul. I feel like I still would've enjoyed the previous version. However, a big part of me is still glad that I don't have dozens of hours logged while being urged to start anew.
Now I am enjoying really the game on series x with 21.1 . The overall polishing in gameplay and performance….It’s a great impressive game…..three years late but it’s there.
So Insomniac can have Spider-Man and Guerrilla Horizon Forbidden West (the latter had some issues at launch, but subsequent patches resolved these) perform very well on their respective performance modes, but CDPR produce this crud.
@@funbrute31 What I've seen of Cyberpunk (tech wise), at least on console, leaves a lot, and I mean a lot to be desired. When compared to the games I mentioned, those games deliver beautiful, fluid graphics, with fantastic performance. Spiderman does RT on its performance mode, same with R&C (albeit no way near the level of a high end rig) and does it well. Cyberpunk was a catastrophe at launch and it's still struggling. Of course, if you're talking from a PC perspective, it's a different game visually and in its performance. It's apples and oranges when juxtaposing the two platforms. That much is axiomatic.
Insomniac is awesome IMO especially with the RT Performance modes in their games. Somehow on PS5 Spiderman can have RT reflections all over skyscrapers and run at 60fps where an old game like GTA5 has to drop to 30fps when reflections are enabled.
I've been playing it for a few hours and CD Projekt Red is definitely back to form. It's an excellent, well put together experience with action and set-pieces and it has that polish that was missing in the base game. Even Cyberpunk's somewhat janky character animations are FAR better in the DLC area, Idris Elba's motion capture is so clean, it's crazy. There's a lot more density and a "designed" feel to the area and doesn't feel as...empty as the rest of NC, which is a great game too now, but it does fall short in many areas. I'm VERY excited for their next game again. We're back to Witcher 3 quality. The dialogue writing also has a more meaningful tone than many of the main game's missions (apart from the main quests, those were great in the base game).
They managed to break a perfectly fine game. Cyberpunk was working very well until the November patch, and since then it is only getting worse for us Serie S players.
Xbox side really took a hit this update seeing more people address issues for series x owners like increased loading times for SX and performance when it was better before
I'm just gonna say it CP2077 is, hands down, from tech perspective, the most advanced game ever made. No loading screens, big open world, competent AI, superb visuals and YET it still allows for 60fps mode on consoles. There's simply no excuse for any other AAA developer not to offer it as an option. I mean look how mindblowing this game looks!! And it still runs around 60 fps on Series freakin S!
That is a good point, people keep trying to blame Xbox hardware limitations when starfield is only 30 FPS but.... If cyberpunk can do it surely starfield should be able to do it. All of that said I refuse to give CD project red of Pat on the back for this. I mean they swindled millions of dollars off people, misled their shareholders, manipulated the review process. I'll never truly trust that company again.
@@phant0mdummy Then you've must been playing some custom version of GTA V because, once you remove your bias pink tinted glasses, GTA V combat AI is trash. Enemies are literally dumb af and game is a pisstake when it comes to difficulty.

Quick correction, Oliver… CP2077 was pulled from ps store because cdpr was promising refunds to customers that purchased the PlayStation edition, without Sonys consent. It had nothing to do with technical issues, the game wouldn’t have even made it past certification if performance was a factor.
I don’t know I’ve been messaging around between ray tracing and performance mode. The lightings is way better in ray tracing mode. More realistic and cinematic. There was one part in an alley at night that just looked flat with it off, no depth at all.
The only way to play this game is on PC with DLSS 3.5 and path traced lightning😎 and all graphical settings set to high and G-Sync enabled. The devs have completely turned this game around but the DLC should be free as a ‘Sorry’ for the disaster their game launched in.
Output Resolution > The resolution that can be displayed through the output Highest Count > The maximum resolution that the game managed to achieve ... due to Hardware Limitations , the max res it can go was 1440p on Quality .. there's Lowest and Highest Count because the game's running with Dynamic Resolution to achieve its target frames .... so yes .. the game is NOT running on 4K on either Performance or Quality Mode
4:25 - Thank you! When it fisrt started happening after patch with FSR2 I thought I was going crazy. It's basically the same on PC if you enable Dynamic Resolution, the game "flashes" for a frame to re-resolve parts of the scene. I'm not sure what's going on but this is extremely annoying. I feel it's gotten better after patch 2.0 but it's still definetely there as you pointed out. I hope FSR3 fixes this but I'm not holding my breath... (and we don't even know when it's coming out) From what I observed it also seems that this only happens when dynamic resolution has to "work hard". If you switch to 30FPS, where the resolution has to fluctuate much less, it's significantly improved, to the point of being a non-issue.
Sony didn't remove Cyberpunk because of the performance, they removed it because CDPR told everyone to get a refund if they weren't happy and Sony's refund system was not ready for that. The game ran as badly on Xbox but Xbox's refund policy is actually really good, so it didn't create a crisis moment for the company. That's why they took the game down, its not like the game runs THAT much better on the base PS4 now lol
It was a combination of the both presumably although they never explicitly said which was which. Either way it's a chicken and egg argument because CD project red only offered refunds because of all the performance issues
Bought the game when it came out and stopped playing after a few hours. Now I finally can enjoy the game the way it should have been from the beginning.
Got a refund for Phantom Liberty, performance and screen tearing during traversal is abysmal in Dogtown, at least on the XSX. I'm disappointed this has not been mentioned enough, every outlet out there wants to make it sound like it's a masterpiece now and that couldn't be more far off the truth.
Cyberpunk 2 will run worse as like CP77 did on launch. Took them years to fix just to add more bugs that are worse than before. Including memory leaks, changing skill trees and erasing items in inventory. OH and corrupting saves.
Does NPC and car density increase in the rtx mode? Or does time of day effect that? I can't seem to figure it out. Sometimes the city feels really busy on PS5 and sometimes it feels more empty. Idk if it's random or if there's a reason npc density changes on the PS5/Series X
Crowd density heavily depends on time of day, just like real life at night people on the road and walking on sidewalks are reduced but during the day there should be more.
I can't wait to see how FSR3 runs on consoles, if frame generation is possible on console it will completely change the quality of games that can run on the hardware.
Sorry but u mention that there aren't meaningful differences between PS5 and XSX RT modes? But then on 9:50 in the video u can CLEARLY see that XSX RT lighting looks better, but like WAAY better! Did I miss something ? I don't get it...
Raytracing is still a gen away on consoles we need the gpu atleast 4x-6x more powerful to expect 4k 60fps with RT at high-ultra equivalent details settings.
You thought you could sneak in Midnight Tokyo into your video undetected but wow, I have to commend your choice. That one is an absolute mellow banger!
I really feel like I see a noticable difference in the RT mode now, thankfully Starfield has got me used to 30fps again so I'll be sticking with RT here.
There is a massive difference between the 30fps in Starfield and Cyberpunk. Starfield feels exceptionally snappy and responsive for a 30fps game while Cyberpunk feels like you're wading through mud. It's nowhere near as bad as the Witcher 3's RT mode, but still not a great experience.
@@JustFun-ho6qy idk I used to feel that way and honestly it was unbearable, but now it is absolutely fine and feels as smooth as starfields 30. Possibly because I turned off all the post processing stuff and motion blur (Motion blur makes 30fps unbearable for me)

When I switch the performance mode, I don’t have this issue. I don’t mess around with this sort of stuff so it’s all kinda foreign for me. I don’t mind 30fps. Can anyone recommend the best setting to play this game. I prefer fidelity but I hated that the game was blurry when I moved the camera. Thanks in advance.
For some reason on my Xbox SX the game has this constant, distracting shimmering…I don’t know how else to describe it. It mostly happen out doors and with the roads and while not game breaking it’s constant and has been that way since the game first launched
I’m glad someone else picked up on this. It is particularly bad in dogtown and in the city areas at night and most noticeable when driving. I’ve never noticed it out in the badlands though
It’s typical FSR shimmer from the upscaling. Unfortunately these consoles use AMDs FSR which suffers from heavy shimmering and ghosting. Remember these games are not running at those native resolutions.
@@esbeekay developers are using upscaling tech more and more now because of how graphically intense these games are they can’t output those high internal resolutions. So they rely on upscaling to push 1440-2160p. Some games go as low as 720p internal then upscaled to 1440p and this is the end result. Partly because A) games are too heavy now for the consoles power B) some developers suck at proper optimization or they simply just want to rely on upscaling tech. Quite honestly it’s probably just going to get worst.
The biggest mistake they ever made with this game was persisting with releasing it on the last gen consoles. It should've been obvious early on that they were never gonna be up to scratch with what they showed on the PC five years ago. And I say this as someone that bought and somehow enjoyed the title on the XBox One lol. Had they just made it for PC and the current consoles, or even just made it for PS4 Pro and XBox One X (which tbf would've been controversial), I think they would've been much better off. But hey, live and learn.
This game looks way better then I remember visually. I just wish the controller felt better. I’ve tried messing with settings and the controls never felt great. Input delay + stiffness.
If AMD makes the upscaling more comparable to Nvidia then the consoles being able to run 1080p upscaled to 1440 or 4k would be a really legit path forward to future proof the consoles
I'm just disappointed that they've nerfed Netrunner stealth builds on a single player RPG. Finding myself forced in to combat when I could just play some other run-of-the-mill RPG for that.
It's not really nerfed, power was just shifted. Cyberware is much stronger now. My netrunner build is still one shotting from stealth once I invested in some hacking related mods.
Microsoft should definitely dish AMD for the next console, we're just 3 years in and the next gen is already feeling quite outdated, but I would bet that wouldn't be the case if they had use Nvidia instead of AMD.
I think the CPU bump this gen hasn't amounted to as much as hoped with the extra burden of ray tracing. We're seeing way more CPU bottlenecks than I'd have thought already, so performance overall might've still been similar with Nvidia.
I have been playing Cyberpunk a lot since it's original release, and this update really made image quality weird for me. I'm fine with 1080p, I don't even use the 4K TV anyhow, but, for some reason, the FSR is making the image very shimmery and it almost gives me headaches, which it didn't use to... I really hope a better implementation of image reconstruction comes with an update, since 30FPS makes the game feel very very slow... I might just end up waiting to get a better PC to go through Phantom Liberty, tbh..
Honestly even as a PCMR enthusiast the performance from XSX is great. Its roughly equal to a 2070S & 3700X. I like how it runs and keeps beautiful visuals.
I think it just looks awesome once you turn off film grain and chromatic aberration in either mode. It really clears up the finer details

It's a much of a muchness, but the FSR on console looks horrid in my opinion.

@@originalityisdead.9513 fsr2 looks super good until about 75% resolution scale. you can barely tell the difference from native. the problem is that quality fsr starts at 67%, where it's already pretty visibly worse. so there is really no preset in which it looks "good". plus consoles love to upscale from 50% which looks awful
surprised they didn't update FSR to the latest version for a more clean image and less break up.
It's infuriating
It would be shocking if they didn't eventually.
Honestly was disappointed they didn't but hey maybe when they add FSR3 will get it on console so it's better then it is at the moment.
@@TheWarmotoryou have to explicitly turn framegen on. It's a separate toggle to dlss upscaling. Like in all games that support it.
@@gamingletloose The performance while driving in this game is consistently terrible still. I don't think they will ever fix it.

But having checked out another, especially at night like you say it is noticeable and grounds everything, including litter on the floor...
rt shadows is a poor trade off for 60fps.
The problem is that the PS5 is only able to do the medium settings at best....
You literally need an Nvidia GPU to truly see the beauty of this game

It makes this look like a beta test😅
@@brandonleemossWell, the cost of a RTX 4080 plus the components to support it properly VS. the cost of a console.

Lower traffic and crowd destiny
Starfield doesn't excite me the why Cyberpunk does. I tend to fund myself listening to NCP talk about random funny things. Starfield has no magic IMO

Baldurs Gate 3 you can be really whoever you want to be. Cyberpunk you are V, your "choices" don't matter, there is no good/bad morality, your back story is written.
0:24 No, SONY took the game from sales because they didn't want to issue refunds.

On PC this artifact happens when you have Dynamic Resolution enabled.
I imagine that this is what is happening on consoles, whenever the game changes the internal resolution, the FSR flickers.

For frame drops when driving or in crowded areas, I’ve found that restarting the game seems to help and make the experience more fluid. Maybe it’s some memory or caching issue after hours of gameplay? I’m playing on PS5, for the record.

Memory leak is something ive suspected and hopefully sorted if present.
In my experience on the ps5 85% of the time the frame rate is stable other times it drops into the 20s, Only other issue is the crashing and infinite save icon which causes the game to crash, what seems to be issues with popin/low render distance, Possible memory leak, Black artifacting that takes up the screen then slow fades within textures and fixes itself But other than that it’s decent.
when going into dog town in PL with pathtracing and RR on I had crazy stutters until I restarted. I was playing for a few hours before that point
Yes, I have the same experience, PS5
This game is just pure eye-candy
I wonder why more devs don't include 120hz modes. After playing Ratchet & Clank, GoW:Ragnarok and Spiderman 2 on 40fps it feels bad going backwords to 30fps. Beautiful looking games deserve to show off their stuff without sacrificing gameplay performance.

@@funbrute31 What I've seen of Cyberpunk (tech wise), at least on console, leaves a lot, and I mean a lot to be desired. When compared to the games I mentioned, those games deliver beautiful, fluid graphics, with fantastic performance.

CP2077 is, hands down, from tech perspective, the most advanced game ever made. No loading screens, big open world, competent AI, superb visuals and YET it still allows for 60fps mode on consoles. There's simply no excuse for any other AAA developer not to offer it as an option.

(and we don't even know when it's coming out)
From what I observed it also seems that this only happens when dynamic resolution has to "work hard". If you switch to 30FPS, where the resolution has to fluctuate much less, it's significantly improved, to the point of being a non-issue.
FSR3 should be an impressive technologie considering the difficulty to developp it
Sony didn't remove Cyberpunk because of the performance, they removed it because CDPR told everyone to get a refund if they weren't happy and Sony's refund system was not ready for that. Game looks insane on pc and it's sad to see RED engine going bye bye for Unreal 5. I guess in 4-5 years we'll see what they do with Cyberpunk 2
will be cool on ps6 with path tracing.
@@rcadenow7543path tracing on PS6? Get ready to be dissapointed
Cyberpunk 2 will run worse as like CP77 did on launch. Took them years to fix just to add more bugs that are worse than before. Including memory leaks, changing skill trees and erasing items in inventory.
OH and corrupting saves.
@@funbrute31 Why not...its 5 years from now. in 2022 we already had the 4080-4090 that run path tracing well with dlss 3.
@@SeriousDragonify imo, they learn their lesson, it wont happen again + they will use easier to develop engine (unreal 5)
Glad I waited to try this game. Loving it!
I'm facing some crashes on PS5 on 2.0, mainly on Dogtown, which are ruining my experience.
Awesome tech review videos as per usual. 💪🏼
We need a new optimized settings guide!! keep up the awesome work DF!
Hardware Unboxed released an optimized settings guide on their channel just a couple of hours ago, go check it out!
Glad i never touch this game until now, its time to jump in❤
Same…the perfect time
The performance modes still remove car and crowd numbers which isn’t ideal.
After playing a stupid amount of Starfield at 30fps on Series X, I am more than happy with the 30fps mode for Cyberpunk!! Looks and runs fantastic!!
I can't wait to see how FSR3 runs on consoles, if frame generation is possible on console it will completely change the quality of games that can run on the hardware.
Yes but frame generation works when the input is above 60fps. So it is not sure it works on console
@@lio220 60 is recommended, but ist also works with an average of 48Frames.
I wanted more details on what exactly ray tracing is doing in 2.0 on PS5
Same as before, local shadows only
Not much, ps5 is last gen
Local shadows get RT, resolution gets a bit higher, and SSR is bumped up to a higher setting.
@@jayroman3384 aha, does it have ray reconstuction? Path tracing? No? Then it is last gen
@@danielkissgremsperger3242that is not how this stuff works. It's current gen.
Sorry but u mention that there aren't meaningful differences between PS5 and XSX RT modes? But then on 9:50 in the video u can CLEARLY see that XSX RT lighting looks better, but like WAAY better! Did I miss something ? I don't get it...
C'mon, are u blind!? Two different times of day. Just look at the position of the sun. 🤷
I love these video reviews. They make me choose the way Im going to play the games on my xbox series x
Raytracing is still a gen away on consoles we need the gpu atleast 4x-6x more powerful to expect 4k 60fps with RT at high-ultra equivalent details settings.
moral of the story, buy game two years after release
You thought you could sneak in Midnight Tokyo into your video undetected but wow, I have to commend your choice. That one is an absolute mellow banger!
I really feel like I see a noticable difference in the RT mode now, thankfully Starfield has got me used to 30fps again so I'll be sticking with RT here.
PS5 all games are played in 60fps performance mode.
No 30fps here
@@RonniSchmidt-mi7pd?? PS5 has two modes 60fps performance and ray tracing at 30fps
@@mattsal2070and Starfield has no Performance mode. Ur point being?
There is a massive difference between the 30fps in Starfield and Cyberpunk. Starfield feels exceptionally snappy and responsive for a 30fps game while Cyberpunk feels like you're wading through mud. It's nowhere near as bad as the Witcher 3's RT mode, but still not a great experience.
@@JustFun-ho6qy idk I used to feel that way and honestly it was unbearable, but now it is absolutely fine and feels as smooth as starfields 30. Possibly because I turned off all the post processing stuff and motion blur (Motion blur makes 30fps unbearable for me)
While they're have made a lot of progress, they are not done yet. The game still needs optimisation and an update to the latest version of FSR 2.
Sorry I’m late. Finally got around to playing cyberpunk on ps5. I tried rt mode and I’ve noticed that whenever I move my camera, it’s starts to blur everything (I’m assuming it’s the motion blur?).
What we've all been waiting for
The only real problem on consoles is the lack of FOV settings
Which is surprising as most first person games on console now have some kind of option. The default isn't unplayable but could be better.
Definitely the top candidate for Steam’s Labor of Love Award.
@@andybrown3016 I thought I was going crazy because I can’t find any mention of it and videos of the game on Xbox always look so much better than mine
It’s typical FSR shimmer from the upscaling. Unfortunately these consoles use AMDs FSR which suffers from heavy shimmering and ghosting. Remember these games are not running at those native resolutions.
@@DeanT1987 is it possible this is something that can be fixed? It hasn’t seemed as bad as it has in the past, it’s been very distracting
I found if you put 13, 13 sense and aim assist all the way to the top makes the gameplay better for me at least
You or your controller suck because it plays perfect
There are controller deadzone sensitivity options The game feels good to play for me you have to mess with thr settings
A great analysis by Oliver, much obliged.
I've waited three years to play this.
Literally pulled the trigger on a PS5 and CP77 during this video.
A deadly netrunner is still very viable. You just have to be more focused on it with your points and sacrifice other skills
I was hoping that 2.0 update would address the issues with the HDR (PS5). Shame that it still appears broken.

Series X here and the performance overall has taken a noticeable hit over 1.63. Don't know what CDPR done but it's not good.
The consoles do a pretty solid job for $499/$399/$299 devices.
Good luck building a complete PC for gaming with 500 bucks.
So after all this time, and a big patch, they failed to improve performance by a single frame on Xbox Series S/X.
Ever since PS5 has VRR support, all games feel smooth in performance mode and some even like Ratchet and Clank have full support
not this one
Honestly even as a PCMR enthusiast the performance from XSX is great. Its roughly equal to a 2070S & 3700X. I like how it runs and keeps beautiful visuals.
