2k football still looks great to this day. Man I wish they were on the market
Those 2k football pass rush battles looked amazing and madden still can’t come close. SMH
Look at how "flat" that field in KC looks. It's like they're pretending it's the 1980's when they had that nasty old astroturf on it. Meanwhile, Madden games of 25 years ago had the turf getting chewed up as the game went along.
The problem imo with sports games these days is it’s getting to be TOO manual. What I mean by that is, in a sport like football, you cant control every player on the team. So there HAS to be some level of AI that does some of the work for you to keep immersion and realism. If my corner didn’t cover the run like he was supposed to because I didn’t control him is dumb because my eyes could’ve been somewhere else. It’s to the point where it’s like we’re playing foosball football edition
2k5 had TOM BRADY in motion cap as a 2x champion! How can they not have at least 64 qbs come in for a day & get their dropbacks right! Qb play is so unrealistic in their dropbacks! The pocket plays no part the way people drop back! Plays in the WEST COAST OFFENSE has separate steps dropbacks.
Or why not capture it from the NXT GEN chips and all the friggin' NFL film data if they can't get the player to come in?

@@IxMADMANxl there’s a reason NBA live doesn’t exist anymore and it wasn’t because 2k got an exclusive license. It’s because the gameplay was unrealistic garbage just like Madden. If EA didn’t buy the license Madden wouldn’t exist anymore either.
@@vibinbruh.they don’t have the leverage to demand anything. NFL was interested in going exclusive and they had build a good relationship with EA largely because of Madden. Ea was more willing to follow all the protocols NFL wanted to promote their brand and they were willing to sell the players info to the NFL and include direct marketing from the nfl in the game. EA made the offer the NFL wanted and they are fine with how it’s been so blame the NFL more than anybody because it’s what they want.

NFL Head Coach had field deformation in rain games and the uniforms would get wet, dirty, and scuffed up helmets. That was from 2009 and was made by EA. They CAN do it, they just don't feel like doing it.
Madden had it too before they switched to ignite & then frostbite. All pro was better than 2k5 on weather, but the field degradation and the dynamic change in daylight was amazing on 2k5

It been a problem for Madden for years, the defense and the AI are not on the same page.
But the CPU defense even knows what fucking play is the user calling. If you make an adjustment, the cpu knows. All of these problems only happens to the users. The CPU knows EVERYTHING.

I feel like the people that defend this game aren't actually fans of football. They're fans of Madden, which is not the same as being a real football fan. Real football fans would want to see better from Madden, not simply try to defend the game to get free stuff from Clint.

I legit wanted to click off this video after his first gripe but I stuck it out to try and see his point. The one thing I will agree on is some of those pursuit angles in madden are really wonky, and that’s one of the more “gamey” aspects of Madden. But The thing about the corner, look at his stance before the ball snaps. He’s playing man(again) and you can clearly see who his assignment is. When his guy is running downfield on the inside part of the field which direction is he supposed to turn? You expect him to just keep his back towards the endzone and he’s supposed to just backpedal and run slow so he’s still facing a running back who went unchecked? Yet on the 2k play you say nothing about that free saftey and who know what he was supposed to be jumping towards on the sideline when you had the wide receiver running towards the post. The other thing is why can’t something like this ever be the person calling the plays fault. These guys will try to nanoblitz on every play and leave a player like the running back uncovered, and yet they give up a big gain and it’s the games fault because they call an uber aggressive play and they do all this crazy presnap cheese to try and glitch.
Yeah the complaint about the corner play is definitely a reach. He has no outside threat so he can stay at that angle and read while keeping leverage. And even with the backer, even if he did have flat responsibilities if his iq isn't highly rated its very possible that he took the cheese of the vertical route (a re-route would have been nice). Also you are correct about that 2k play. That safety play was horrible yet nothing was said. Many of his videos are spot on this one seems personal.

The problem with this play isn’t the corner. It’s the outside linebacker. The outside backer has to position himself to bump any vertical route and then rally to the flat.
Unfortunately it’s not a money play because I’ve since this a million times in previous Madden’s the outside backer responsibilities in cover 3 against compressed sets isn’t programmed into the game. In fact most defenses aren’t programmed appropriately for compressed sets that’s why 2x2 tight and 3x1 bunch tight have ruled Madden for the past 7 years. EA won’t program the concepts defenses use IRL to combat these sets.
It’s the way the Game cheats. Like the MLB who has the RB as assignment if he goes for a pass in the flat and leave that assignment and just stay in the middle. I hate that every FUCKING TIME. just one of many examples of how the Game cheats…

NFL 2k5 is still, and from what I can tell with the state of Madden will always be the best NFL football game ever. No microtransactions, excellent controls, so many different options on how to form your lineup, franchise mode, and so much more. I love even being able to customize the stadium music. You don't have this granularity of customization in Madden. You never did and from what we can see, we never will.

I agree 110% with everything you say, but the problem lies in two areas: 1. EA is too damn cheap to shell out some serious cash to create an even better version of 2K, and 2: Even worse…people continue to BUY this game.
We will never see Madden significantly change unless the sales are drastically reduced.
And with virtually no competition on the market, and an endless number of NFL fanatics, we are fighting a losing battle my friend

Maybe it's easier developing the game when it's based on animations as opposed to how the ignite engine, implemented technology that they went in-depth on when explaining how true step works
Well, no on every account. It's not that like it's easier, they just clearly like to get away with the least amount of effort possible to slap on a new number and call it a "new game". It's probably why big features come to FIFA before Madden, they probably can certainly add said features but it would be way easier waiting a whole year to add it rather then working with that team to understand the feature to put in the game at the same time.
And btw that said feature is actually really big this year. Madden is already years behind and now it's gonna be decades behind considering how good 2K and FIFA are gonna be with the new technology like proplay and hypermotion.
And honestly I don't even think that technology would really even work with this frostbite engine tbh...
its funny seeing all the madden defenders a month before release pop up then disappear a month later its 2023 and games shouldn't be outclassed by games on 20 year old hardware 🤷🏽

I'm genuinely curious how ratings play a part of things like this play. If that ai was 99 play rec, how would he react to the flat? Or Elam's pursuit rating, ECT... I can't understand how to even begin programming all the if then scenarios
Ratings mean nothing in this game and haven't since 2006, and it's been proven time and time again, ratings mean jack shit and the cpu uses which animation it feels like on a roll of the dice for which animation it will choose. I mean ratings have been irrelevant since 2006 when Madden ported over to the 360 and PS3.

Last video you didnt even say anything about the RCB going stright into a press animation and strafing for no reason leaving O wide open that is not real football no player gets beat and begins to run side ways
Stopping the ballcarrier from going upfield requires hard explosive cuts that happen naturally. AI is getting closer to replicating it but still not quite realistic yet
"Its just a game" Yea, its Million dollar money maker in a Billion dollar industry. Ppl spend thousands of dollars on Madden MUT and modes. Do you think EA take it as just a game? NO.... After going through Ratings over and over again from 04 through 08 on the PS2, how can a game in 2023 be so patheticly trash in becasue ratings mean nothing in this game. At least on the PS2 if you have an 80 to 89 rated WR going up against 50 to 60 rated CB that was a mismatch and you could use it against the CPU and the CPu would use that mismatch against you until you double team that WR. In MAdden 24 you could have a Fat Slow 350lb Olineman guarding Tyreek Hill and that Olineman would guard him like Dion Sanders and intercept the ball more than half the time. So lets be real Madden is effing garbage.

I am tired of all the animation and non game play time that Madden has in it. Cant turn it off is so frustrating. This video has given me reason to try 2k football.

There's still no trajectory on the ball. Wide receivers and tightEnds running backs are still running behind the linebackers and behind the corner backs. Interceptions are still driven By animations so much still the same hasn't changed

I honestly saw no changes, the blocking barely improved many of the blocking animations and the way that lineman adjust their blocks in this game was the same as 23, they haven’t fixed the full back blocking at all which was a main staple in older madden games. There still isn’t any physics in the game, there aren’t any real pass breakup animations, all cornerbacks, linebackers, and safeties do is hit the wide receiver’s back while building no momentum and somehow that makes the wide receiver drop the ball. Cornerbacks look like they still pick the ball off more than they’re supposed to and play the ball better than receivers and so many other problems that are still in the game. It’s so sad 😢

There is just to much automation. I stopped play madden so much when they began introducing so many animations. How many times do you call a running play, see a big hole, but you are sucked into a defensive lineman who is being blocked, and you fall for a 2 yard gain? It's just stupid. Let us play the game. All the animations make the game slower, and completely unpredictable because who knows when an animation will click. Animations for the defense cause us to lose the game by not working. Plenty of times, I would defend a deep pass. I'd try to swat it or catch it and the defender wants to keep running with an animation of wanting to interception over his shoulder while the WR stops and jumps in the air.
Ok these videos are getting out of hand, there were serious deffects in the gameplay footage they released but RyanMoody is really demolishing this before he has even gotten to play the game once its been released

I play db and linebacker irl and these angles are so weird, I’m glad they actually made dbs look like they have atleast acouple brain cells but, it’s still so off, I’m gonna get the game, but I’m not happy about it, I feel like people really have to stop giving so much money to ea with ut cause they don’t deserve it, whenever I play madden I do no money spent, because they don’t deserve any money from that horrid mode, I was never able to play the old games because I grew up on madden 15-16 and 17, so they best madden I’ve ever played (which is sad) was madden 20, which wasn’t even THAT good, it was just a big upgrade from the worst madden game of all time so people loved it, cant wait for the next couple years when ea doesn’t have simulation football games by the balls.
If you played Madden 17 then Madden 23 seems to be identical gameplay so comparing 23 to 17 it seems ok

You have to take control, between during the play and pre-play. Every play and motion is super basic and generic. Where are the choices made from guys who have elite level decision making through game film or just overall knowledge of the game? What about guys that know what plays are coming, causing the offense to adjust? How about the diffenece between blocking on 1st and ten at your own 25, and 1st and goal on the opponents 1? Blocking for field goal kicks? Corners and safetys guarding with inside leverage, or outside leverage? There are no differences between how defenders react on any play, regardless of the play call, regardless of the down or difference.

2k will always be the standard barer but com on man, to say that 2k5 is overall better than current gen Madden is ridiculous. Some aspects(presentation, blocking, etc.) are better. But overall, while Madden needs work, it’s still the best simulation football game out here. I’m not playing 2k5 over current gen madden no time soon.
