It's really nice to comeback to that film after so many years. I still have chills on my back when your music start playing in the background of your run and this whole Journey. You and Billy you're my real legends of those kind of docummentaries. Thank you for your great effort, amazing talent and the most for memories Guys! Stay safe and healthy ✌️
Dude, you are amazing! Seeing you run 60 miles is so inspiring when I'm struggling with just 4-5 miles. Working on building up for my first 10K and seeing you do 10 times the distance really motivates me about what is possible with the human body. Keep it up my friend.
Could this race review be any more epic ? Nope, I don't think so. Ethan, YOU DA MAN !! Finishing a 100km run is definitely something not many will achieve. I've done 50km, and I doubt that I'll ever finish a 100K, because I know how much time goes into training. It's almost unbelievable how YOU handle job, relationship, RUclips & running all together. Mr. Newberry, I take a bow of respect. You're SO dedicated. 100% RUclipsr, 101% runner. Awesome videos. Can we nominate you for an award ? - Marc
Dude, I'm a fan. I genuinely enjoy watching your race day videos. Seriously. I've completed a few marathons over the years, but your videos have motivated me to seriously consider signing up for an ultra marathon, most likely the Calico Trail Run 50K coming up in January 2016. Maybe I'll see you at a local race. Keep up the great work!
man these vids are so inspirational, so glad i have found your channel! just got back into running after 20+ years away. 43 and 262 pounds a month ago. 234 today and just did first half marathon this week, cant wait to get to your level. thanks for making these great videos Ethan! i'm in olympia, wa and so enjoyed watching G Robbins saint helens video today, just an hour from my door! Music and vids are phenomenal, keep it up!
This was absolutely incredible man. Watched the whole thing and felt like i got to go on a journey with you. Very proud of you for kicking that race's butt. Great running and great video.
So I am doing my first 100k (Uwharrie 100 and 100k) in a little under two weeks. I am scared but ready. Thanks for the inspiration! I know there will be a bad place at some point like you experienced but I plan to fight through like you did.
Oh man ... Well done dude. YOU done So well for your first 100k, you are inspiring. One day I will do my first 100k. Love it keep up the good job your AWESOME.
Can't wait to see you do a HARDROCK100 or a LEADVILLE level type of events. You're vids are always fun to watch man. Very inspiring to us average runners to be doing this monster distance events.. More power dude!
You must really have figured ultra running out, because at the end you look fresh and you were talking in complete sentences and everything!!! Awesome accomplishment! Congratulations
WOW!!! I always love watching your videos & following what you log...but this video & what you did - 100K - is AMAZING!!! Congrats in a huge way & thank you for taking us on this journey with you. Keep it up - you encourage & motivate me!!!
"Ultras are hard"... GREAT! Very nice video to pass the time tapering away for my FIRST 24h race next weekend. Perfect inspiration... Now I´ll check the rest of your vids out! Thank you for sharing :-)
This really is a great video Ethan. I'm registered for the 2015 Cuyamaca 100K. I stumbled onto this after I registered, but I keep coming back for inspiration. Big fan of your work!
Julian 24 was a blast. 2 years ago now but a good stepping stone to longer ultras. But it helped me learn a few things about running, taking breaks and fueling. Since then I have done 2 more 50ms and a Javelina100. Just re-watched this video and think I may sign up for Cuy100k
Album with the tracks you produced for your (race) reviews ? YES, please. I'd love that ! I'd totally buy it, to support you. And to listen to on my own runs.
Great video dude. Your audio is so crisp compared to other GoPro "running" vids I see out there, did you capture separately? Congrats on a monster of a race too!
+TheGingerRunner I just this video. Loved it. Perfect timing as I will be running it this weekend. Thank you for the great vids, and for sharing your journey. Totally pumped to run my first 100K
Just lovely to see! You always have great music choices, have you done any videos of your favorite running music? Edie: Wow now I saw that the music it made by yourself! Nice! I would definitely buy it if I could find it. I'd rather like to see it up on Spotify, my music source of choice.
Ginger, you continue to inspire me!!! The way you shoot your videos really capture the moments, and I feel as though I am there grinding out the miles with you! Any advice for transitioning into ultras say 50k distance from mary's?
Thanks for the love, man! Best way to transition is to start running trails first and foremost. They are quite a bit different than roads (more hills, more mountains!). I know people who skip straight up to 50m distance, but I opted for a couple of 50ks first to get my ultra legs and know what it feels like to put my body through the pain. Ultimate advice is to signup for a race and train for it! Start that goal!
Nice editting & graphics! You're really upping your game. So what's on deck? You have 2 months left to go from your first 50k, 50mile, 100k to the 100mile in one year.
Smoooth as the bay! Yes! You've got a new sub here. Thank you! OMG how did I not know your channel before? Not only is this amazing footage, but you just took me along for the ride! My bro in law does ultras and I've long toyed with the notion of trying one someday. I think you just made me powerfully afraid of doing so, but also amped up the excitement factor somehow. I am currently training for (and vlogging) it) my first ever marathon - woo hoo! Finished my first half in June, felt terrible (but I was sick at the time, so...points?). First 16 miler done- hated it, but 14 miles went well. Who knows?
AWESOME!!!. Funny man when you woke up. You are the man, love your adventure and video. Hey, I don't allow myself to think I'm alone when out there, I train 99% with no humans but with MOTHER EARTH 100%. Great job!!!. Pls tell us about the Petzl lamp!!! And if you don't mind tell us about the camera and accessories you use to record. I tried a 100k in August, 6 loops but didn't make 12hrs. cut off time. Can't afford races now. Planing to do my own 100k soon!!! You got me even more motivated.
Can you tell me what you mount your GoPro on for the hand held? I have seen runners with ski poles, etc. Seems like it would be heavy, awkward. Assuming like anything else, you get conditioned to it.
Great job Ethan! I was there pacing Debbie and had a great time! Hey did you use a Go Pro? And what software did you make your movie? I want to make a movie for my race the Bandit 50k. Thanks so much!
HI , I am new to your channel and I am really likeing all the videos I have watched so far....I was wondering :how do you feel the day after and , I would say , the week after too? thanks so much and congrats for all your achievements
What's the best shoe for running the 68 mile Georgia Death Race...... you said in your Inov 8 Talon 212 review nothing over about 10 miles.....so what shoe would you recommend for those trails and elevation gain?
Great job!!!! What shoes did you wear during the race? I really liked the intro. However, I question your selection of running hats.LOL Keep up the great work!
Great job man! I have been watching your videos since the beginning you have come a long way! I am going to do my first "ultra" 50K in February. Also what Salomon vest was that you were wearing? I have been rocking the Ultimate Direction AK vest and it has a lot of sloshing/jerking of the water bottles as I run the vest you were wearing seems like it does that less.
Why do people walk during ultra's? I understand that they are super challenging, but wouldn't one want to slow down their pace instead of walking? Are these guys running at like 8:45 to 9:30? Isn't the goal to finish the whole thing running- or at this amount of distance does it not matter?
Elites will run most of the course, yes. But you're also dealing with long, hard climbs where running is not an option and will burn out your muscles hours prematurely. It's not "walking", it's "power-hiking", where the speed at which you travel uphill is equivalent, if not FASTER than a quick cadence run. Also, when your body begins to shut down and reject any calories you're putting into it, nausea, lightheadedness and overall bonking take over for miles or hours. You can't really run through that. Try running an Ultra sometime. You'll see.
Thanks for the response! You are a big inspiration and I really enjoy your reviews. I wasn't meaning to abase walking during one of these, I was just curious as to the reasons/ mentality behind doing so, because it's just so damn hard to keep going after you start walking on any run, not to mention ultra's. What are the mile split's during ultra's, or do most people not measure?
It's really nice to comeback to that film after so many years. I still have chills on my back when your music start playing in the background of your run and this whole Journey. You and Billy you're my real legends of those kind of docummentaries. Thank you for your great effort, amazing talent and the most for memories Guys! Stay safe and healthy ✌️

So I am doing my first 100k (Uwharrie 100 and 100k) in a little under two weeks. I am scared but ready. Thanks for the inspiration! I know there will be a bad place at some point like you experienced but I plan to fight through like you did.
Another great video, thanks for making and inspiring. Signed up for my first 100km in 2020, cant wait but also slightly terrified by the thought, lol.
BOOYAH! Massive congratulations on the 100K. Can't wait to read the recap on your blog.
Another awesome video, thanks for sharing your first 100k which makes me again even more excited about my first TNF100 next year
Thank you for your honesty in your vids, showing the lows and the highs. You're awesome!
Oh man ... Well done dude. YOU done So well for your first 100k, you are inspiring. One day I will do my first 100k. Love it keep up the good job your AWESOME.

Love your video. Any chance you can make some videos about your sorts of training and nutrition. The background work in between the races. Thanks
"Ultras are hard"... GREAT! Very nice video to pass the time tapering away for my FIRST 24h race next weekend. Perfect inspiration... Now I´ll check the rest of your vids out! Thank you for sharing :-)
Amazing accomplishment! Amazing race and an amazing video! You never stop amazing us all.
This really is a great video Ethan. I'm registered for the 2015 Cuyamaca 100K. I stumbled onto this after I registered, but I keep coming back for inspiration. Big fan of your work!
you are quite the inspiration! Thanks for sharing this journey as always.
'"Ultras are hard!"" Classic quote. You are of course quite correct.
You are inspiring me to do an ultra now... my GF is having a shit fit about the notion alone... Keep it up Ethan!
jay ckb they get used to it. Just be smart in training.
Have you done some?
6 50ks, and 1 50 miler. Definitely a rookie still as with my work schedule its hard to train properly. Doing a 24 hour run next weekend.
Best quote of this whole fucking video? "But I am going to finish this mother fucker. Fuck yeah!".
Huge congrats on a grueling race. Impressive. Awesome video and music track mix as always. Get some Ginger Runner.
I was nice watching some of older videos
Album with the tracks you produced for your (race) reviews ?

HARD hell yes! WAS the best F'n quote :-) Great video Ethan. Congrats on getting to that finish!!! It's like nothing else.

Ginger, you continue to inspire me!!! The way you shoot your videos really capture the moments, and I feel as though I am there grinding out the miles with you! Any advice for transitioning into ultras say 50k distance from mary's?

Great video. +1 for holding the camera for the entire race.

What's the best shoe for running the 68 mile Georgia Death Race...... you said in your Inov 8 Talon 212 review nothing over about 10 miles.....so what shoe would you recommend for those trails and elevation gain?
Brilliant! I hope to do the same for my first 50k next year! Just a question, how many batteries did you use for the entire 100k?

Amazing job!! Inspiring and real! Well done you! Keep it up!
Awesome video! Congratulations on the race, we all knew you could do it! ;)
your musics amazing:)
Also, how did you do the audio for most of the video? Your speech is so clear and my GoPro audio quality isn't nearly that good.
Skeleton case
Ryland Kirzinger Really? it just seems to me like the GoPro mic isn't capable of that quality but I could be wrong!
My hero4 has very good quality, unless he was using a external Mic
Ryland Kirzinger yeah, I think that might be a possibility. ***** ??
great job, truly inspiring!
