If you look up a pace calculator, 100K over 17 hours is roughly 16 and a half minutes a mile. Thats like a really really fast walk, or a super super slow run. When i was a beginner at 12 years old I was running a 15 minute over the course of one mile (cause obv a beginner usually can barely run more than a mile at a time.) The pace he was going at was actually incredibly impressive given the distance he ran, but there were rest stations and im sure he trained for an incredibly long time. I don't think it would be too unbearable if you invest a lot of time and effort into the sport.

I would say that you were notionally eating too much but much too sweet. The stomach can only handle so much sugar and than it shuts down. I know that most endurance athletes (and with them the aid stations) are quite fixated on carb intake, but for ultra endurance efforts I would try to become fat adapted and than you can eat much less and real food (instead of candy).
But that technical thought aside - this was a great endeavor and a great movie about it. Congratulations and many thanks!

WAIT! You waited 'till AFTER the race to drink coke? Did nobody tell you the old ultra-saying that after 80km only coke can help 😁

Nice vid. I desire to do an ultra with no fancy watch and equipment, just H20 and bites of anything ;-)

I love hat Civic! I always wanted to have one. Guess it will never happen since you can't even drive one in my city anymore (thanks contamination measures 😔)
