    The difference maker for me is Tony’s honesty and Billy captured it beautifully. Phenomenal mountain runner, really worked at it to the exclusion of all else. It meant that much. Biomechanical challenges and high volume may have reduced his output, however, due to these challenges, to me, Tony’s real creativity has shown through with his willingness to rock climb, scramble, and bicycle. He is a great example for how to live as you really desire to live. Each day a new challenge.

    Love that guy. Surely the days of advanced athleticism are numbered from the beginning. As we age it is most important that we slowly transition away from "what I want to do" to "What is healthy for me to do". But this is a tough reality for those that perform at such a high level. The great thing about Anton is his humility, it will ensure his eventual healing and successful transformation into something different and better than he was previously if he wishes. The truth is that he will always be an integral foundation of Ultra. His efforts transcend Ultra, becoming a motivational tool for us who could only imagine doing what he, and other athletes like him do. Ultimately, the exposure of self, in the most vulnerable moments of our lives, is a gift to those of us who are paying close attention. I see a young man making the shift from what I used to be to who I will become. He is constructively engaging his challenges as we all should, as well all have to, so cheers to him, and Billy Yang for capturing such a moving story of a fine young man! Great work.

    Great video. Anton is such a great guy, sucks to see him struggle with injuries. It's weird, he's at that time where his best days are probably behind him. Its weird as an athlete to realize that I'll have to deal with that myself someday. Thanks again for providing us with such a great video.

    • @danohara8485
      @danohara8485 9 лет назад +7

      Nah they're not behind him. You usually find in running the older people are the ones with the best times and are amazing at it. Karnazes didn't take it up till he was 30 and now look at him. Scott Jurek only started getting real attention and status 30-mid 30's in age. Also take away the Hero's from the sports and just look at normal joe runners. The better ones or the ones who usually put a lot more miles in and are better at doing marathons and ultra's are usually the older people not the guys in their 20's mid 20's. There are loads of story's out there about people taking up running in their later lifer and are now doing ultra's and are in crazy shape. Anton just needs to shake his injuries and recover. He's stopped wearing those 4-0 drop minimus now, because they fuck up your feet and your feet and shins absorb to much shock. He's got years left :)
