There's probably some unwritten rule about commenting on a video that's 5 years old, but seriously this is just too amazing. You had me in tears in some parts and laughing at others. You truly have a gift! Thank you for being such a real inspiration.

Totally agree with you Jeff!!! I have bipolar dissorder and the anxiety, the doubt, the shear fear of not finishing just drivers me on. That drive came from this video, making me laugh (the poop hand!) and tears tough points. A real inspriation for me and us all!

My high school cross country team watched this on our annual Mammoth Training Trip, on our coach's 60th Birthday! He was born and raised in Seattle and just completed the Mt. Wilson Mt.Disappointment Endurance Race, and even came in first place for his age group. This video was truly inspirational to both him and the entire team. He says congratulations and to keep up the good work!
    Love,

Congrats on your first hundred! I'll be using your videos as required watching for my crews when I do my first hundred.
PS - Gary is SO fucking awesome.

I was really into trail running around the time this was uploaded. During the pandemic I lost my way and have not been able to find my way back to doing what I loved. I gained weight, I am not able to run the amount that I worked so hard to be able to do and the hills I would crush are crushing me.

Whether you're a miler, cross country or half marathoner, marathoner, go watch it all and you will realize how ordinary people could do extraordinary things. Thanks Ginger for this epic video. The lesson I learn from your race is you could only "plan for the worst, hope for the best" before the race and anything could happen along the way, it's not what will happen to you but how you encounter and get over it! Gonna sign up for my first ultra trail 70km next year, no chance to hesitate :)

I ran a half marathon this fall with lots of steep rope sections and that race was knackering. We did it during daylight, can't imagine what it would be like to come to a course section like that 50 miles into a 100-miler AND doing it in the dark. Wow, awesome stuff Ethan! Really impressive! Thank you for sharing this video with all of us all over the world and well done on finishing this monster of a race!

Damn it Ethan, I watched this video when you first put it out and it made me cry, laugh, smile and be inspired. Having nothing else to do(I don't have a TV)and since you stuck the link to the video right on the front of your RUclips page I said to myself; "Self? Why not watch it again, it's been a while, we could use a little motivation?!" So I watched it again(can't lie, for like the 4th time)and again I cried, again I laughed and again I smiled. You are unique, you inspire the very best in people, never forget that.

Probably the greatest video I've watched... Like EVER! Super Impressive Ethan and you inspired me to start my Ultra Running Career. Completing my first 50k a few weeks ago at 19 years of age, was an experience I cannot even put into words. If it was not for all of your amazing videos, I would have not decided to challenge myself and try running farther than a marathon. I've been waiting for this video since the day you ran the race and it was well worth the wait. Thank you Ethan for being an inspiration to all of us! Who the hell clicks the thumbs down button on something like this? That is my question. Six people have clicked the thumbs down... They just don't get it. What an incredible and brave endeavour GR. Running 100 miles is something no one could ever take lightly, but this has inspired me to work towards fulfilling that curiosity for myself, knowing I too will face debilitating anxiety in the process about pulling it off or not... But if anything, these things are about going headfirst into the unknown with both feet, and the point is not knowing, and embracing that, just seeing what is possible and knowing only that you'll do your best to solve all the problems in order to keep moving forward. If you had any idea how much inspiration you send out, you'd see with full clarity that you're more than just a man to so many, you are a force and a blessing. Keep doing what you do.

Ethan, I'm originally from Bainbridge Island, WA, and your movie certainly reminded me why it is called the Great Pacific Northwest. You're a good soul Ethan. You impart wisdom, share knowledge, and provide a glimpse into worlds that say, "come here....this is possible....believe." I prepare for my first Full Marathon in Raleigh 4/10/16....and at some low point in the race, I'm going to think about you reaching that peak in the Cascade Crest 100, I'm going to dig deep, and then I am going to be awesome. Thanks Ethan......Brian.

As a fellow ginger, I have been watching your videos for the last 2 weeks following my first venture into the world of trail racing. You give me such amazingly positive vibes! I really look forward to my steps up towards my first ultrarun. I too suffer from a mind of doubt, but you've really helped anchor the ultra-mindset along with my amazing local community of scenic trail runners. Thank you SO SO much!

How do you prevent blisters on such long distances? I get some even after 15-20km :(

Try using 2Toms Sport Shield and Injini socks. Works for me in 50 milers.

At first I didn't recognize the Ginger Runner and yet he's the guy who through his many videos taught me almost everything I know about running, including what shoes to buy, and the kit to carry. Excellent running movie, and well done Ginger Runner, keep at it!

+Tim Andrews The three people who gave it a thumbs down are couch potatoes. Boo to those people!

+Tim Andrews I know, right? Trolls be trolling. However could it have something to do with the minor controversy surrounding Destiny being named "Cuddle Captain" in lieu of Kim? Even the very worthy Destiny seemed a little surprised at her unexpected nomination.

Ethan, It was really great to meet you yesterday. I just want you to know that I've watched this film 4 or 5 times and each time it makes me emotional and it motivates the hell out of me. You really have a gift for capturing what ultra running means and how it feels. Thank you for sharing your talents with us.

Such an amazing journey. Thank you for sharing. As someone who is working on getting back into running in the midst of demons similar to yours, I cannot tell you how much your story means to me. It gives me hope and courage, and determination to conquer what threatens to consume me almost every day. Here's to putting one step in front of the other, and to your incredible accomplishment!

Wow! Best film to date! Congratulations! You have no idea how much you've inspired me in the last 6 months. I lost my wife this past summer and in watching your films, took up trail running. Running has been my outlet for everything in my life. Watching this film inspires me to do an ultra. I'm planning on celebrating my 50th this next summer by running the SF marathon. But after that, who knows? I may do an ultra. Thanks GingerRunner! You are amazing and inspiring. Congratulations!!!
