    Hi,
I just wanted to say that i love watching your videos. Im in my 40s. My mother never taught me how to take care of a house or cook. I've learned a lot on my own over the past 20 years. You bring happiness to me learning more tricks here and there and you remind me of a motherly helper to me. Your wisdom is appreciated. Thank you. I enjoy your videos. You're doing a great job.

you can use the stale cookies by grinding them up and adding a little melted butter to make pie crust like the graham cracker pie crust you buy in the store. I do this all the time and use the ground up cookies as the crust to my cheesecakes. YUM

I've wondered about drying the peel of citrus fruits, I've dried sliced lemons and limes, peels on, before but never the peel for zest, thank you. I'd like to share a similar tip, years ago I had a recipe that called for bread crumbs, a container was $5, so I decided to make my own. I save the ends of loaves of bread, toast them to very done, let them finish drying out on a plate, and then tear them into small pieces and put them in my mini food processor. I have a container that I store them in, just in the cupboard, and used needed. Have a very blessed day!

Good idea on the citrus peels! :) I just watched a video of a lady that dehydrated her tomatoes and then blended them into a powder. It was a potent powder and she just needed to add water to make paste or sauce. It saves a lot of room if you have a bumper crop of tomatoes! Looking forward to homegrown veggies!!

I have taken the orange peel and put it in a jar of sugar. Leave it a few weeks, remove the peel and use the sugar in baking. It's good sprinkled over cinnamon rolls, cookies or cakes (use some zest or powder in the frosting).

It’s higher than that. Butter was 2.89 three months ago now it’s 3.50, and that’s the cheapest stuff. That’s almost 30 %

I have no idea what these biscuits are. In the UK a biscuit is sweet, more like a cookie 🍪

Hi Natalie. I know. I think it is so interesting that in the UK a biscuit is a cookie. Here, a biscuit is a quick bread; not sweet...you add the sweet with butter and ham or honey. Think of as similar to an English scone? Like a really think slice of bread. Try them. They are very good.

I figured it would get here eventually but was hoping against hope that it would take longer. Well, we will do what we must. Thanks for the update.

Do you wash your meat before you seal it in the bag?

    • @homemakingwithdenise
      @homemakingwithdenise  Год назад +1

Hi Barbara, not usually. If I’m unwrapping, vacuum sealing, and putting it right back into freezer…no. I will wash it prior to cooking. However, the US Department of Agriculture says washing meat and poultry is unnecessary. Germs are killed in cooking but I’m old school. I just have to wash it.

@ThisandThatwithDeniseJordan I just purchased a food vacuum sealer after watching your review, and I was wondering what was the best practice around washing and sealing meat. I've heard washing poultry isn't necessary, but I'm old school as well and wash all of my meat before cooking. Thank you for your response.

Those numbers are skewed I think they are at least 12 to 15 percent!

Regardless of the numbers, it’s crazy and not getting better. We’ve got to figure this out.

Girl, yes! I always struggle with that. My sister in laws always said my corn bread needed browning. You'd think I'd get it by now! Hahaha!

Bird flu is the reason for today's shortages and price increases. Like Omicron was. Or Putin. We'll see what tomorrow's reason is...

??? Bird flu is spread by wild water fowl so the disease most often follows their migratory fly ways.
So many different things can effect the complex supply chain... because we have a global economy.

@@faithrada I'm referring to that there is always an excuse for why something is not on the shelf or why prices are high.
In historical accounts of countries in collapse this is a standard affair. The government releases propaganda, or the citizens invent a "reason", of why things are bad. The "reasons" change, but the net effect is always less and less available at higher and higher prices.

I love your tips, but I’ve never seen such a DANGEROUS demonstration of cutting up a chicken.
Please DO NOT follow this example. Plus your knife needs an fresh edge on it. Dangerous issue number 2.
I’m not trying to be mean spirited.
I’m professionally trained ~ besides my father and grandfather were butchers.
So please don’t come for me.

Hi Martha, you might be right but this is how I cut up a chicken. I’m a home cook and not professionally trained. I don’t know another way. I’m just showing what I know. If there’s a better way, I’m open to learning. And as I said, a sharp knife is a must. And here’s the other thing, you have access to info that I and others don’t have. Please…share it. Send me your video showing how to cut up a chicken properly. I’d love to see it.

Question. Then how do you cut a chicken because that's the way I cut one and everyone else I know cuts chicken the same way? Seriously, I'm not coming for you I just want to know? I don't think you're being mean spirited nor do I think Denise believes that (she always thinks the best of people). Even if you don't have a channel you can record a demonstration and reply to get video.
      Have a great day ☺️.
