Im a 30yo european manchild and Mama Denise just taught me how to wash my jeans in a washing machine. Thank you Mama Denise!❤
You are quite welcome. I get a lot of young men visiting my laundry lab videos. I do these for the young people who just need the lesson. What video can I make for you?
I will button. zip up and turn my jeans inside out from now on. Thanks for the helpful tip!
I was *just* about to put my jeans in the washer, so I had to stop and watch! I do turn my jeans inside out but never zipped/buttoned them. Trying it this time! I've heard the trick about the vinegar to set the dye (any dark color, actually) but never tried it. I wear dark wash jeans exclusively; to keep them looking brand new, I use Wool-ite Darksdetergent. I wear jeans exclusively and only have a few pairs, so they're being washed at least once a week. These are two years old and look nearly new.
Hi Sandra, I've got one coming on how to keep jeans from fading and I do talk about the possibility of buying the dark wash detergents but for the most part, I try to consider what people probably already have at home. I sent my hubby to get some so i had it for the video...he couldn't find any so...no dark wash that day. Had to go with what I already had.
Glad I saw this. I nearly wear Jeans exclusively excluding weddings and funerals. I have like 4 pair and leave one pair new untouched just if a special occasion arises. After a certain amount of time and wear they get relegated for work use then I get another pair.
Thanks for the dark color tips. That’s all I wear.
Thanks
Thank you for explaining things so thoroughly! I always learn something new from you!
Hi LeeAnn, I am glad you enjoyed it. What tips resonated the most with you?
@@homemakingwithdenise I didn’t know that’s what “wash separately “ meant, I didn’t realize about the transfer of color or to zip them up. Makes sense!
I leave my washer lid open for two reasons. One : to dry out. Two: I know at a glance my washer is empty. I didn’t forget clothes in the washer.
Hi Phyllis. Thank you for your response. Forgetting clothing in the wash...I must admit...it has happened here a time or two. Now that I leave the top up it doesn't so yeah, another good reason. Hahaha!
I so much enjoy your videos. I really like the ones where you are in them alone and not interviewing someone. You alone are a wealth of information. Thank you
Hi Tasha, thank you. The "interview" segments is for my weekly show Homemaking with Purpose. It airs every Thursday at 7:45 PM EST and it's meant to be an interview format. You can skip those if you like and just watch the other days. On some Thursdays, either it will just be me or there may be a placeholder video if I have to be away. Tell me, what do you like best about the regular videos? That will help me with planning upcoming videos.
never to old to learn something thank you so much Denise
Thanks for the tips I never read the labels but I do wash them in cold water and now I will zip and Byron them! Thanks for stopping by my live have a bless week🙏
I started using Persil a few months ago, in addition to other detergents according to what I am washing. The Persil that I have now is Oxi, so I am using it just for laundry where odor or stains is an issue. In years past, I did buy special detergent for dark clothes. Usually, I do put my jeans in the dryer on low for a short period of time and then hang to dry. Thanks for this video. Even though I buy most of my jeans at thrift stores, they are good quality and I want them to last.
Hi Ms Bennett. I will have to try the Persil with Oxi.. I've not tried it yet. Just the original version which I love. As for the special detergent for dark clothing, it's nice but it's another thing to buy. If you're careful with the wash, you might not need it. What other tip resonated with you?
@@homemakingwithdenise Your suggestions to turn the jeans inside out and fasten and zip them up are so important. I will admit to not doing that very often .. I just want to throw everything in the washer. However, taking a few extra seconds and doing things the right way will make a huge difference in the life and appearance of our jeans. Thank you! I was not taught to do laundry and have learned along the way and am still learning.
Hello from Cali Mrs. Denise 😊. I’m like your niece . I Love an amazing pair of jeans. Dress them up or down depending on your own style preference. Also, thanks for the info on zipping and button those jeans because you r rt! You can lose a button r the zipper might snag another favorite item that you wash, so thank you for the reminder. Have a blessed weekend 🌹.
Hi Lovely. You have a nice weekend as well. I see you get it about the pricey jeans. Well then, you'll want to take care of them. I'm glad the video was helpful.
Never knew about the button and zipper being closed. Can't wait to wash my jeans now! 😂
I had to chuckle at that. Yes. Closing the zipper is helpful particularly if you bought some of those distressed jeans with rubs and holes already, you don't want to damage them. Jeans are an investment today.
@@homemakingwithdenise So true. I just washed my jeans the way you mentioned. I also asked my sister if she knew about it. She did!!! wonder why she never told me! :)
Love your energy
thank you for the advices ,it helped me a lot 😊
Thank you for sharing this good info on taking care of our jeans.
Hi Yvonne, I am glad you found value in this video. With today's prices, we've got to make things last. What tip resonated with you most?
@@homemakingwithdenise The one really catch my attention was, turning my jeans inside out before there washed, I already started to do this on my husband jeans, thanks🌸
I remembered seeing my grandma, ironing my grandpa jeans and she use to starched and iron her sheets too, well I think I have told you my age with this.🌸
Thanks! This helped a lot
Thanks
I can’t wait to read the instructions on my jeans!!!
🤣🤣
Lol!! I’ve never read the directions before!!
😢🤦♀️
I totally failed on turning them inside out and zipping and buttoning them.
Also, I dry my jeans on a hanger overnight to help them last a little longer. Then iron in the morning.
Thanks for this video!!
Debbie Jo, I just came back from the post office. Literally. Thank you so much. You are the sweetest person anyone could hope to know. How did you know just what I needed? I really, truly needed those items. Thank you.
@@homemakingwithdenise I’m glad to know it arrived. Thank you.
Great tips. Will try Persil detergent.
Hi! This is a great video. Can you make a video on how to keep whites white?
Hi can I only use white vinegar and salt to wash your jeans because I don’t have that type of soap?
And you'll want to use a machine that fills full of water, especially to rinse out the detergent. My whirlpool direct drive, of 29 years works perfectly to this day.
One of my laundry challenges is my husband's clothes. He works around his vehicle and tends to bring in oil stains and gasoline smells. I already wash his separately. They just never get clean enough.
I hear you. Oil and grease stains and orders are hard to deal with. You're doing the right thing to wash them separately. I'll work on a video for that problem.
Great video Denise, Thank you!! I’ve never read the wash instructions on them, I don’t know why.🤷♀️ My husband wears them everyday; I rarely wear them.
Have a wonderful weekend!! 🥰🌷🌸🌻🌺
Hi Jax, always good to see you. What tip resonated with you since your husband wears jeans daily? You must have plenty to put in the wash.
@@homemakingwithdenise Washing only the jeans 👖 together. Checking his pockets is key with my husband. Lol 🤦♀️ I’ve never thought turning them inside out though or zipping them up and buttoning them. I will do that with future washes. 🥰
@@JaxFLGirl1222 Girl...dont' even talk about pockets! Especially in the summer...I've found chewing gum wrappers, fish hooks, sinkers, who knows what! Checking his pockets is a must. You'd think he was 7 instead of 70. Hahaha!
how often do I need to wash the jeans?
How do you wash your jeans? Any special tips for us? This is the first video in our jean care series. Part two is coming next week. When you are done here, watch this video next on Dryer Balls vs Dryer Sheets ruclips.net/video/LOPeFcxTA7M/видео.html.
I have a child who has disabilities and he wets his bed every night. I’m wondering what is the best way to wash his bedding so that it is clean, sanitary and smells good without adding lots of scented laundry products
She suggested running a wash just using white vinegar. Then run again using your detergent. She also suggested 1/2 cup white vinegar in the rinse cycle.
I'm A Guy, not A Girl... My Bad
No worries. I usually speak directly to homemakers…that includes my female and male homemakers…it was one of my housemen who reminded me that I have a large contingent of male viewers. Guys need to know this stuff too. And not to mention my young men off to college or in their first apartments. They need all this stuff too. Homemakers, from my perspective, are anyone…people…making and keeping a home. I’m so glad you’re here. What video can I make for you?
