Definitely the Variant. I thought the Rocca was Stainless. Definitely a Parker 3 piece. DE89 is fine. 34C is a staple. Progress is nearly as good as the Variant. I'd add one. Merkur Futur. That's a wonderful razor.
Hi Kevy, The Rocca is all stainless and Birch of course. I checked it all out before I bought my all stainless Rocca. I own all of those except for the Progress & 65r 😁😁. My top 6 non stainless would be:- 1. Rockwell 6c. 2. Executive Braveheart. 3. Parker Variant. 4. Edwin jagger De89. 5. Mulhe R89 Rose gold. 6. Merkur 34c. Stay safe mate, Dave.
@@clarkbowen2935 Only the handle of the Braveheart is stainless steel. The head is a pot metal.......still good quality though, I love mine!! Dave 😁😁👍👍
Here are my top 6 non stainless steel razors: 1. Rockwell 2C/6C 2. Edwin Jagger DE 89 3. RazoRock Lupo (Aluminium) 4. RazoRock SLOC 5. Parker Semi Slant 6. Merkur HD 34C
Hi Kevy nice presentation. In my opinion top of the top at the list is Parker semi-slant 55 SL-SC. Best value for money razor, extremely affordable, extremely smooth, extremely efficient, extremely well made. Works the same with almost any blade, any soap, any cream. I own over 50 DE safety razors and tried many more. When I tried this razor for the first time I said this is the one for me for daily shaving. Another one is Merkur futur, but in my opinion is not a daily driver (because of the aggressiveness) and not so affordable for some people. That's why I put at the top of the list the parker semi-slant. Keep up the good work mate, greetings from Greece!!
My #1 razor is the Gillette Tech Ball End (the one made in the late 40s that has no date code). I like it because the safety bar is thin and has a curve that matches the top cap perfectly. Bends the blade to a perfect angle. The blade fits so tight in there that there is no room for hair to get clogged up anywhere. These modern razors have HUGE safety bars that makes them look ugly. And they are always chrome-plated, unlike the Gillette Tech which is nickel-plated. If you ask me which is better: chrome-plated or nickel-plated? Of course nickel-plated. And the Gillette Tech has a small, thin, solid handle.
I've been enjoying these Top 6 videos (though my OCD says they should really only be Top 5, but what the hell!). These Top 6 remind me of the classic youtubers that used to do these all the time (Busta, Nick Shaves, TSE and others) I await your Top 6 soaps, creams and aftershaves. Have a nice rest of the week!
Kevy, Great review. Your videos are the best! I am already looking forward to 2022, with your reviews of double edge razors, brushes, soaps and razor blades. Of course, I do not want time to go that fast, as I will be a year older! Great job, Kevy! The best to you, Mrs. Kevy and Riley.
I like the design of the Parker 65R, a groovy looking razor. I have the good British Edwin Jagger DE89 3D razor in black, made in Sheffield. It's a quality made razor. I prefer the look of the Parker Variant over Merkur Progress. The knurling handling is always better for grip whilst shaving.
I have to admit that I liked this Top 6 more, the choices are undoubtedly excellent representatives of the best known brands in the world of wet shaving, when you mentioned Mühle I was excited I thought you would say R41 . Lol 😂
Nice. That same Merkur was my first razor, I still have it, just used last week and as you said: great shaver!!! This time it shaved better than old Gillette adjustable razors!!
This list was spot on! I still love the Rocca, and I hopefully will get one soon. I knew the Progress would make the list, but I did not expect it at the number one slot. My own list would be similar; in that it too would contain more than one Parker as well. My number one however, would be the WCS 175B. Then following the Weishi (sold as the rookie by Rockwell), Yaqi Tech, Parker 26C, Perker Variant, and the DE89.
I also prefer the Merkur Progress over the Parker Variant. While I find the Parker Variant to have a more solid build than the Merkur Progress and both razors perform pretty much the same I find that the Progress just "feels" better in the hand. I believe the long grooves that run down the handle of the Progress make it easier to control then the round knurled handle of the Variant. My other razors are: Fatip Slant Closed Comb Muhle R89 Merkur 37c Slant Parker 111W (for the handle, look it up) Bevel Shave Razor (mild but I never get nicks or razor burn with any blade) What's next, top six Vintage Razors?
Hi Kevy- Great Top 6 video; thank you! I appreciate hearing your thoughts on the six razors. I currently only have a Rockwell 6C and a Merkur 34C HD in this category- love the 6C; never really use the 34C anymore. Well, I hope you have a great weekend ahead. Take good care and be safe and be well. Best regards, as always, Kevy!
Hi Kevy, the muhle Rocca is a very nice razor, had the stainless version for Christmas, it’s fantastic, save it for week end shaved , hope your keeping well my.Friend, cheers to you 🏴👍🏻🪒🏴
Kevy the Merkur progress is my favorite razor as well, I have the short handle but prefer the long handle, second would be the Variant, I feel the Progress is less aggressive on the same settings as the Variant which works very well for me.
I've never truly loved my Progress 510 long handle. It shaves fine but blade alignment is a bit hit and miss on some brand of blades and the metal handle feels cheap to me.
Nice review Kevy. If you haven't tried the all brass Yintal, I'd be really interested in a review from you. Mine is all bronze, cost a massive £12 and shaves absolutely beautifully. I also like the Fine Marvel 3 piece, the Muhle R41 ( not for the faint of heart) and the Yaqi Katana single edge. The Parker semi slant is a fantastic razor too .Pride of place however goes to the PAA Blue Phantom . Superb. As good as any razor I possess. All the best and stay safe and well.
Nice list. I have them all except the Merkur Progress. My very first razor was the DE89,plain handle, but really like the diamond knurl one you have. For non-stainless, I like some of the aluminum ones, such as Razorock's Lupo and Baby Smooth. I like the Merkur 23C, and even the cheap and cheerful Lord tech and L6. I would love to see a 10 Favorite list of yours for VINTAGE DEs (as I feel 6 would not be enough to cover the huge number still very much available and favored). Perhaps a list of budget DEs too?
Another informative review, thank you. For me, it seems that no matter what I buy I continually migrate back to my Gillette 1958 Flair-Tip TV special. I don't know why except that its a D2 and therefore made in the same quarter of 1958 as me :-)
Good evening Kevy! Nice list of razors. I am surprised there isn't a Gillette mentioned, as that company produced a few very fine shaving razors. If I was to put my best Non-Stainless razors in a top types list: ATT copper Windsor R1, 1930 Gillette NEW SC, King C Gillette, Karve CB Brass with C-Plate, 1937 Gillette Sheraton, 1964 Schick Krona. Those are not in any particular order. I love the Muhle Rocca R95 too, but I will save it for the Stainless Steel razors. One could argue that the R95 is a mixed metal razor. I got two different answers from Muhle about handle metal of the R95, to wit: Aluminum (hollow) and Stainless (hollow). Tapping it I would say Aluminum is what it is. Thanks for your Top 6 lists. They are very good. Cheer mate! Happy Chinese New Year!!
Kevy👍👍 Nice selection for your top six non SS razors. I have four of the six; Variant, DE 89, Merkur 34C HD and a custom Merkur Progress called the MergressXL w/SS knob. Thanks.

Hi Kevy, Interesting comparison and set of razors. I just ordered the Progress with Long Handle (510/51C). So I'm excited to try this one. The Rockwell T as well the Parker Variant are for me not ok. The Variant has too much blade gap for my skin and the Rockwell doesn't function correctly...parts are not good aligned. Thanks for sharing your experience .

Hello Kevy. Nice choice!. As I can see you are not a big fan of open comb or slant razors. Otherwise it just means there are other videos top 6 coming)
I thought you would include the Yaqi Camouflage razor just to say you prefer it when you want to shave in the jungle and not get caught shaving!!! The 34c can't get 7 days of growth even with a Feather loaded. Can you do a shave checking that? But... Can you avoid shaving for 7 days!!!???
@@kevyshaves4109 Let me check my den to see if you sent it to me!! Ok, no! So you lost it somewhere in the jungle when nobody could see you shaving!! hahaha!
Before I got the 6S I used a 6C in gunmetal finish, everything else falls behind these two. I do like the Edwin Jagger De89 but I did buy a third party SS handle for it.
I recently picked up a rockwell 6c, I was using the wilkinson sword one before, love it. Have to say on lower number settings I struggle to find the blade but still love it
I was wondering this myself and was going to make the same comment that the 6C wasn’t even mentioned. It’s the same razor as your #1 6S only made from chromed Zink.
@@kevyshaves4109 that really intrigues me as you rank the stainless steel equivalent as number 1 on the SS razor ranking. What made you choose that? I thought there are close to no differences between the two, apart from the gliding on the face (which is even better according to you ) and the obvious steel type. I've got myself a 6s myself and was thinking about giving my brother one, to get him into wet shaving. Are there any drawbacks to the 6c ?` Greetings
Hello Kevy , Hello Everyone , Kevy - I love your videos ! I'd like to share my new recent discovery :) . I use the mild MÜHLE safety razor closed comb R106 and the mild Edwin Jagger DE89. Recently I discovered that if I twist open the razor handle by half a turn or even a turn the blade in the razor becomes less curved, more loose, much sharper and the shave result with one pass is closer and better. In this way, I'm able to use any blade for about 20 shaves or even more. One has to be careful, shave slowly, and not cut yourself. Make sure not to twist open the handle too much. The sound of the whiskers being trimmed is louder this way and this helps achieve a complete controlled shave in one easy pass . Has anyone experienced this ? Keep safe.
The Progress was a surprise to me. When the 34 HD came up second, I thought for sure number one was going to be the Rockwell 6C.
I thought the same too. My 6C is my favorite of all the razors I have.

Hello Kevy, I think the Muhle Rocca shouldn't be on the list because it is a stainless steel razor.
Good choices.👍
Great top, Kevy ✋☺️👍💈 How about Muhle R41?
Too aggressive for me to make top 6. Kevy 👍
what about the rockwell 6c ?
Not this time 😁
@@kevyshaves4109 that really intrigues me as you rank the stainless steel equivalent as number 1 on the SS razor ranking. What made you choose that? I thought there are close to no differences between the two, apart from the gliding on the face (which is even better according to you ) and the obvious steel type. I've got myself a 6s myself and was thinking about giving my brother one, to get him into wet shaving. Are there any drawbacks to the 6c ?`
Greetings
I prefer the weight on the 6S. The 6C is quite light. Kevy 👍
@@kevyshaves4109 ...i agree!!
@@kevyshaves4109 ...o and as as Jimmy will said " like a ww2 russian tank" !!!!!
👍👍
Well done Kevy great video:)
Umm isn’t the Rocca stainless steel, or am I mistaken?
I see a lot of people have mentioned this, so I’m sorry lol
Top razors anyway though, cheers Kevy. There’s a shop near me that sells Parker and Merkur razors that’s getting a visit when things reopen again
A few have mentioned that. Yes, it is but I put mine in the non stainless razors as mine has the birch handle. Cheers. Kevy 👍

Kevy I thought that Rocca is a stainless steel one.
It is. The handle on that one is stainless steel and Birch wood.
Ha, I had the same question. I have a Rocca R94 and was surprised though.
6C👍
As my ex said: You can delete my phone number, but you cannot unscrew my bottom.
When I use those Mercurs I'm reminded of the Battle of Berlin lol
....and to me mainly blonde German girls.....
Sir, Muhle Rocca is totally stainless still made. It’s not supposed to be in your list.
The birch on the handle isn't stainless on the one I have. That's why it's in this list. Kevy 👍
Muhle rocca is the best hands down!!! But I know as usual...YMMV.
Hello Kevy , Hello Everyone ,
Kevy - I love your videos !
Keep safe.
Great tip. Cheers. Kevy 👌👍
Cheers 👍😊

Eye!
Nice 👍
You can get some pretty good rice from India actually.
Kevy!
The Rocca is stainless steel.
I'm one of those people who doesnt't like the plastic knob on Merkur progress. The color of it is very unfortunate, not attractive at all to my eyes.
I used to feel the same way as you, but as i get older, i quite like the vintage vibe of the Progress. Cheers. Kevy 🙂
Muhle Rocco is stainless steel
Great list, i'd only add Rockwell R6 (IMO).
