Ken I know its been a long time since I left a comment but I wanted to both personally and publicly thank you for all of your support over the last 5 years and for all of your wonderful shaving video reviews I also just wanted to let you know that regrettably this will be Victory Shaving Company's final year. God Bless and I wish you and your wonderful family all the best
Robert, I’m so sorry to hear that this is your last year. Your soaps are iconic. I bet the year of Covid didn’t help the business. Email me anytime Ken.kirkup@gmail.com
Thanks for sharing your magnificent 11 razors Ken. I thought you would have picked the R41 to be your most aggressive and glad that the Rockwell made it on the list. Enjoy your time with the guys.
Really enjoyed the video Ken 😊. Thank you so much 😊. I have the Rex Ambassador adjustable, Fine Marvel razor & Gillette King C razor. Watched so many of your videos & love the banter. Thank you for all the love & positivity you’ve provided us all. Best wishes from Switzerland 🇨🇭 to you & your family 😊👍🏼
Ken👍👍 Nice selection for the criteria given. I agree with most of your picks, I simply mean they are good choices. The "aggressive" choice surprised me as I have the SS and Cu version of the PAA Ascension razor and find both to be exceptionally smooth shavers, even with the head "adjusted". But, it's all subjective right. Great video, third time's a charm. Enjoy the boys night out.
Ken, had my first shaving crisis yesterday after around 6 months of following you and using a DE shaver ! sliced my face/top lip with my R41 Feather combo, what a mess ! Didn't think you could hurt yourself quite so much. It was my fault I was rushing and got complacent. I think I will switch in some less aggressive blades for a while until i get my confidence back !
@@kensurfs Ken, Really appreciate your content and all that you contribute to the wet shaving community. I have learned a lot from you. I am looking for a buy it for life razor. A one and done razor. My criteria are a. shaves consistently b. has even blade centering. c. leaves me looking presentable in two passes when I'm short on time and bbs when it matters. d. can hack at a five day growth that is relatively thick. e. has a narrow head to get into tight spaces. What would you suggest as a budget option that punches above its weight class and could compete with more expensive razors. And an "if money was no object" option? Would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks for All You Do. Cheers, Matt
Hi Ken, Great choices there! I own 3 of those razors, the Rockwell 6s, the Edwin Jagger 3one6 (I have the all stainless and the red anodized) and I don't have the 34G but the 34C. I think my favourites at the moment are my 2 Masamune's and my Blackland Blackbird. Take care Sir and stay safe. Dave.
my first "real" safety razor, after trying the dollar store "toy razor". Nice and mild, it just works. If you cut yourself up with it, something is wrong with your prep or your blade
Love seeing this tag video, gets everyone talking about their favorite razors. Ken i completely understand your opinion on the r41, I use almost daily and have gotten so used to its efficiency that I swear it can be a daily driver, take care and all the best to you
That's a big 10-4 on the vintage Gillettes. They still dominate all categories. However, your alternate choices were interesting. That's what makes this hobby so fun, the combos and possibilities are exponential.
I fully agree with the Black Beauty as a classic. I got a '69 short handle for $12 and have been running it for over a year now. I love using it at level 9 with some Astra SPs
The Rockwell 6S is also on my list to buy but 99€ is a lot of money to spend, uff 😅. I was actually expecting the Gillette Tech on some place on you list because you seem to like it. For me, it would be either daily driver or auto pilot 🤔. My sentimental choice would be the same as yours because my great grandfather has used it who would have been probably the same age range as your father in law’s father.
very nice your eleven razors , yes rockwell 6 C ( I have gunmetal finish ) is a great razor , I use blade 2, now I am going to buy a marvel fine razor , thanks for great info , saludos desde Mexico mi querido y muy estimado amigo , un abrazo
I’m surprised you put the Ascension as your aggressive choice because when it’s tighten down all the way I find it actually pretty mild, Or if you loosen it a half ton or a quarter time it opens it up a little bit. I have the stainless steel one
Have you tried the new Sinatra Lennon signature razor from the wet shave club. I bought one and it gave me a traffic shave. It’s $80 on the wet shave club website. Stay safe and healthy.
Cool!!! Thumbs up! This is an excellent video. Thank you. By the way, I've decided on keeping only one beloved razor for life, which must naturally be the best premium razor ever produced: my choice is the stainless steel Taiga by HomeLikeShaving. Nonetheless, since I travel a lot, I also need a razor for traveling that is inexpensive but also excellent quality: my choice for that purpose is the King C. Gillette DE safety razor (I strongly dislike the Gillette company, but I love the razor).
Viva Las Vegas! I am tagging Kensrufs to my Magnificent 11 Aftershaves. 😁😁😁 P.S. Kensurfs, are your razors loaded with blades? Lock and loaded?😂😂😂 Cut those zombie throats!
If you want an excellent shave with minimal cost, effort and time try this: Q-Shave adjustable razor (Merkur clone for $20) and Creemo. I tossed my brush and cup when I found that a cream, massaged with fingers, did a better job of moisturizing. Remember a close and nick free shave is a result of technique 90% and equipment 10%. The Q-Shave razor will not dazzle you with a glittering finish or precision machining, but it will do the job.
I only have 5 de razors, lol. Here's my ranking: Rockwell 6C gunmetal (R4) , my daily driver now; 1961 Gillette Slim that i got from my late uncle (setting 5 for me), Qshave futur clone which i use on setting 2 or 3 because the blade exposure is different one side to the other on mine, i quite like it though, King C Gillette which is totally ok but nothing special and finally a Wilkinson Sword Classic TTO which i dont use anymore because it has quite a blade exposure difference, one side very mild the other a lot more aggressive. I am curious about a Fatip open comb razor and a Standard Razors aluminium one now, which looks superbly minimalistic, woow!
Ok so I started wet shaving a few years ago and ditched the can and cartridge but now being two years later I found my self addicted to trying different soaps so my main question is how to store soaps for long term due to I have exceeded limits in soaps can you please shed some info if you can on use and storage heard alot of soaps will spoil once used thank you love your videos keep up the good work
Great video! I've learned a lot from you and by watching your videos. I just gotta learn how to get my lather right. I tend to get a very light, fluffy consistency instead of more of a slick paste. Lots of small air bubbles...my "water to product" ratio must be off. I start with little water, but seems to still come out light and foamy. Any ideas?
If you are a face latherer, then I suggest the youtube channel Another Cut Above. If you are a bowl latherer, then I suggest Sugar Daddy Shaves (sggrddy_shaves). Practice makes perfect. What soap are you using? What brush? Bowl or face lather?
@@ivermec-tin666 I actually bought a very nice shave scuttle. You can fill it with hot water. Very nice. My water to product ratio is off. I have very good luck with Sterling shave soaps. Proraso.. just continues to develop too foamy
I have both of them. The 11c is an open comb, but extremely mild, and it's efficient only with a stainless blade, or a Feather, and with 2/3 passes. The 34g/c is a closed comb, mild, with a good blade it's a perfect daily driver.
