We are honored to have made the list. Thank you Chris.
No Double Edge Razor Top list would be complete without Timeless:)
I have 3 of your razors! Thinking about a 4th
Great choices, My magnificent 5 are: Gillette Canadian Pre-war Tech, Muhle Rocca R94, iKON Tech, Fatip Slant & the Fatip open comb.
Those are some excellent choices sir.
In my collection I would go like this:
Style: Timeless brass
Budget: Razorock Game Changer
Under App: E.S. Outlaw
Premium: Carbon Cx316L
Sentimental: Karve brass
Versatile: Rockwell 6S
Classic: Gillette Fatboy
Daily Driver: Merkur 34C
Autopilot: Edwing Jagger DE89
Aggressive: Muhle R41
Cannot be Ingnored: Rex Envoy
Very nice sir. There are some great razors in that list.
Hello, I am from INDIA and we don't have much choice but I have a good collection of DE razors from all over the world 1. Style -Pearl L-55, three piece antique brass finish and a beautiful razor 2.Budget razor is Gillette 7o'clock orange colored plastic razor 3.Under appreciated Fine Marvel 4.Premium Edwin Jagger-316 5. Gillette Black Beauty inherited from my father and he used it a lot 6. Parker Variant and Dorco Pl 602. 7. Classic Merkur 34c 8. Merkur 37c. 9. Hajamat SPADE 10. Aggressive Pink Woolf Open Comb. 11. Yaqi Double Open Comb. 👍👍👍
Very nice Rajan. There's absolutely nothing wrong with those razors sir. Thanks so much for sharing your favorites. Use them in good health:)
Bravooooooo PARKER VARIANT is excellent Joy need by Futur Merkur
Here's mine, with commentary.
1. Style: British Flare-Tip. Pure rhodium-coated goodness. My favourite razor, so much so that I have two!
2. Under-appreciated: Techs, especially mid-70's. Just wonderful mild razors.
3. Budget friendly: Gillette New Long Comb travel razor. Paid $5. Missing 1 tooth, but what a great piece.
4. Sentimental: 1956 Gillette Red Tip SuperSpeed. A gift from a fellow wetshaver, complete with floppy doors. Love it, works great!
5. Premium: Merkur Futur. By far, the most expensive DE razor I own; cost me $25.
6. Versatility: 1976 Black Beauty. Any beard, any time.
7. Classic: 1968 Q3 black handled SuperSpeed. From the Summer of Love - Groovy, man!
8. Daily Driver: Schick Krona.
9. AutoPilot Razor: 1981 Gillette Slim Twist. Gentle and mild to the point of being boring.
10. Aggressive: 1968 Slim Adjustable on 9. Keeping my styptic handy for this one.
11. Cannot be Ignored: Late 1940's British Rocket (Called a superspeed in the US).
Those are some excellent choices. I like the vintage razors and own many of those. Since I prefer razors on the efficient side, so the vintage razors usually aren't my top choices. I do like them though.
@@IAMCDB Chris,
As always, great content. Very informative.
Had a question. I am looking for a de razor that would serve in the daily driver, autopilot and "I don't have time because I have to go to work razor category. Something that would have me looking great in two paases, can get into tight spaces ans has head-on blade centering. And key, something that shaves well consistently. What would you suggest? (I know that every shave is not perfect and I know that blade and razor combination are key.) I habe been looking at the RazoRock Mamba or a Rockwell. I love the DE shave, just want a razor that you can set it and forget it.
Thank you for all you do.
God Bless,
Matt
@@matthewkniser8367 For me the Karve CB fits this very nicely. The key is finding the plate you like. It's well designed, comes at a great cost, and is very easy to use. It hits all your marks, it's just a matter of getting the right plate for you.
@@IAMCDB Right on. Thank you Chris. Is there another model that hits those marks that is more budget friendly? Also looking to have something that can not only give that two pass and you're done shave along with the bbs when I feel like shooting for it. (I know that can book down go plates as well.) Can you put Karve heads on a another handle?
@@matthewkniser8367 Nearly any result can result in a BBS in two pass if you make enough strokes:) That said, it's nearly impossible to forecast what will work best for someone else. If I were looking to RazoRock, I'd go Lupo .95 and not mamba. Both are great but I prefer the Lupo. When you mention dead on centering, good efficiency, while remaining budget friendly, karve comes to mind for me. You're talking about less than $80 for the Christopher Bradley in brass. Additional plates are usually around $20. You won't find better centering and fit and finish on a razor for that price. The key is getting the right plate and that varies from user to user.
Some beautiful choices you have and nice razors! I love them all.
Here is a bit of my life time choices for this time.
1. PAA Meta 4 with red flare tip added
2. Razorock Lupo V1 aluminum
3. Gillette Slim Adjustable
4. Gillette 195 “Fat Boy”
5. (B-4) Gillette Superspeed Heavy “Red Tip”
6. Rockwell 6S
7. Vintage Gillette New Long Comb
8. Razorock Gamechanger .68 OC
9. Razorock Gamechanger .68 safety bar
10. Razorock Lupo .95
11. Razorock Wunderbar slant
Cheers!
Excellent choices sir! Nothing wrong with those.
You really put a lot of thought and effort into this list, Chris. Well done and thank you for sharing.
Thanks Lee. I did my best:)
Excellent picks, Chris. I own and enjoy some of those. The ones I don’t have are definitely on my List of Acquisition. Have a successful day and relaxing evening. You deserve it, brother 🔥🪒💈🍺👍🏽
Thanks so much Ruben, I appreciate it.
Thank god you mention about being right on 100%. You have so many arrogant ignorant
People that don’t understand everyone’s skin is very different. I only have 3-4 safety razors. I mainly have straight razors and shavettes. For example on shavettes feather DX and SS is my number one choice for my skin. The DX for the face and I use the SS on anywhere on my body because the DX requires you to hold a precise angle of attack and you could cut your testicles off. My straight razors are very like the few safety razors I have. They all have there own personality and some you can make careless movements and get away with it others like the feather DX or SS shavette with the PROF blades you can’t be making careless mistakes or you will be cut open. My actual straight razors they never are as sharp and thicker blade edge so you can slip and slide and not get cut.
You are bossy 🤩 So, erm - how many was it? Hee hee. I'm only teasing Chris. That was a great video, thanks mate.
hahah. The last series was rough. The idea of these is to make tough choices and some folks added 10 honorable mentions:)
So I just started back wet shaving 6 months ago and have exactly 11. All are budget but here's what I got. Already had sold my de89 and 34c and my twig thorn is out on this list.
Style: Stirling DE3P7S open comb
Budget: Viking Chieftain
Underappreciated: 1958 flare tip
Premium: Stirling DE3P2S aggressive head
Sentimental: 1979 black beauty
Versatile: 1964 slim adjustable
Classic: 1940s Gold Tech
Daily driver: Razorock Lupo
Autopilot: Phoenix symmetry
Aggressive: Razorock Halo SS Mentor Head
Can not be ignored: Phoenix La Criatura OC Slant
Nothing wrong with those at all Robert. Very nice!
Wow Chris. That's gonna cause a few of us to look for our thinking caps.
Thanks Jim, much appreciated.
Decided to get in on the fun:
Style & Premium Choice: Timeless Ti
Budget Friendly Choice: Razorock Gamechanger
Under Appreciated & Classic Choice: Mühle R89/Edwin Jagger DE89 (essentially the same razor)
Sentimental Choice: Feather AS-D2
AutoPilot, Daily Driver & Cannot be Ignored Choice: Above The Tie Windsor Pro Calypso SB90
No Versatility or Aggressiveness Choices from me.
Nice choices sir. Nothing at all wrong with those choices:)
HI Chris, great channel! Since I only have 6 DE Razors, several of my Razors win in several Choice categories: My Rockwell 6C wins in Style Choice, Premium Choice, Versatile Choice, and Daily Driver Choice; My Wilkinson Sword Classic black plastic Razor wins in Budget Friendly Choice, Under-Appreciated Choice, and Aggressive Choice (can be aggressive depending on the Blade); My 1952 Gillette Tech and Superspeed are a tie in Sentimental Choice; My gold-plated brass Superspeed with No Date Code (dating it somewhere between 1946 and 1950) wins in Classic Choice; Finally, My 1953 Superspeed wins in Auto-Pilot Choice and Cannot Be Ignored Choice. There you have it, 6 Razors and 11 Choice categories. Keep up the great work! -- BOB
Nice choices Bob. Those are some great razors sir!
@@IAMCDB I made a mistake: I said above My gold-plated brass Superspeed with No Date Code, it is a Tech with No Date Code
@@bobmaikowski7332 Ahhh, I see. Thank you sir!
I don't have too many razors so I'll have repeats for categories instead:
1. Henson, even if I had more razors there's just something so satisfying about the precision of manufacture and the adonized aluminium looks great.
2. Quality Chinesium that's likely a Weishi. Honestly as long as you're mindful on the alignment when closing these, they're pretty great. Not always beginner friendly because you may need to fiddle with the blade but they're very affordable and reasonably durable.
3. Fendrihan basic no frills safety razor, really you can replace this with any quality Pakistani razor since they're all probably from the same factory if I had to guess. No frills and a good introduction.
4. Henson, it's the only thing close to premium I own razor wise.
5. Chinesium since it was the first.
6. Henson, it's pretty difficult to nick yourself so it's really good for beginners and shaving sensitive areas. People that prefer something with a bit more blade can give it a quarter turn to open it up a bit.
7. Probably the Chinesium since at the end of the day they clone the classics.
8. Henson hands down.
9. Henson for the same reason as 6.
10. The Fendrihan is the most aggressive I have but I imagine it's still on the milder side for more travelled users.
11. I'm going to cop out and say all three but if I absolutely must choose between them the Henson wins only because I feel it really is a razor you can give a beginner and they will not outgrow it unless they jump into the hobby.
There's absolutely nothing wrong with these choices sir:)
Hey Chris!! Enjoyed this one and thanks 😊for the TAG (I think) 😛. I enjoyed your list. I am looking forward to making my list. Have a great week my brother!!
Yes sir, you are tagged:)
Gonna have to give this one some thought. As you know I’m more of an SE guy. But I certainly do love a lot of my DEs. Peace
Yes, I know you prefer the SE razors for sure.
I own a Timeless Open Comb Titanium razor blade and I have no regrets purchasing it. It’s an amazing shaving tool.
Me too thanks again about razors plus information very very important. Take care.
Thanks very much sir!
That's a nice list Chris! Glad to see a Rockwell razor made it.☺ I knew you would pick Stirling as the most aggressive. Have a great evening.
Thanks Joseph. I'm sure you guessed a few of these:)
@@IAMCDB Lol! Yes!.
well interesting choices there my friend to be fair i was expecting a vintage one in there somewhere but all still very nice razors 👍👍👍
I love my vintage razors but in all honestly, I don't favor any of the vintage DE razors over these. Even the adjustable vintage razors are still on the mild side:)
That’s a great list of shavers! Thanks Chris!
Thanks William, I appreciate it.
Going to have to save this vid in my faves. Great job Chris!
Thanks so much David, I appreciate it.
Finally someone new! Excellent razors great video Master specialist shaving. IAMCDB too much smart.
Thanks so much Mr. Barbus.
The only one of those I have is the 34c. For me personally, all but the 34c are high end razors that are out of my price range. Absolutely nothing wrong with buying them if you can afford them. I still enjoyed the video though.
That's no problem at all sir. The 34C is a fine razor.
Great List Chris 💈🪒👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Yup there it is GC yes sir 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Karve is my #1
Razorock - Gamechanger / Lupo 👍🏼
Timeless
Edwin Jagger 3one6
Rockwell can’t beat packaging, presentation etc...
Great Choices Chris and presentation fantastic 💈🪒👍🏼
Next we need Lather Bowls and we need David start using them 😉lol
Alan H
Nice choices Alan. I did a video on best durable lather bowls some months back:)
Great video Chris and choices, I can only imagine that it gets like which soap you are going to use having that many enjoyable razor's. Have a great day.
Very best regards Gordon 😊👍
Thanks Gordon. It's definitely fun to have a lot of options.
Hi Chris, beautiful razors, great collection and very interesting and inspiring video for future purchases ... you are great 💪💪💪👍👋🇮🇹🇺🇸
Thanks so much Ursus, I appreciate it.
Awesome list Chris! Going to try the lupo .72 for the first time tonight! Cheers
I hope you enjoy it sir. That's a great razor.
@@IAMCDB Man, that's one of the smoothest shaves I've ever had, BBS after 3 passes, no buffing. Really impressed, a great value. Cheers
@@Callahangonefishin Nice! I'm so glad to hear it.
Awesome video C.
Take care my friend.
🤘😃🤘
Thank you Matti. Have a great day!
Will be watching this! Fantastic list.
Thanks Andrew.
If you want an excellent shave with minimal cost, time and effort try this: Q-Shave adjustable razor (Merkur clone for $20) and Creemo. I tossed my brush and cup when I found that a cream, massaged with fingers, did a better job of moisturizing. Remember a close and nick free shave is a result of technique 90% and equipment 10%. The Q-Shave razor will not dazzle you with a glittering finish or precision machining but it will do the job.
You definitely have some nice DE razors Chris! Heck of a list, and many I haven't had the pleasure to try.
Thanks so much Lyle. These are all great for me.
I’ll have to try this challenge myself.
Consider yourself officially tagged Angelo:)
1-11...
Only need the one..
Merkur Progress...
That's a good razor:)
That's quite the list! Thank you for sharing! I think we might have slightly different standards for what a budget razor is though. 😄
Well, most of these are stainless steel razors. In the realm of stainless steel razors, anything $100 and lower is budget friendly. I hope that explains it.
Great list! I have a few of those so it was nice to see them on your list too
Thanks Jon.
Finally something new, I know your name IAMCDB is 5in1 only you big Dude! Me thanks for your support and advertising very important for all!!! Stay tuned. Good morning best buddy.
Thank you very much sir!
@@IAMCDB Me too thanks again Man
My stirling with the hyper plate as i write is en route from Seville, hoping to get it today. Bought it after your recent shave. Greetings from Gibraltar Chris. Great video mate.
Awesome! I hope you enjoy it Lance. Go easy with it at first. Cheers sir!
Great video! Awesome razors on your list 🙂👍💈
I hope everyone follows the rules this time lol!
Have a good one!
Steve
I hope they do as well. I'm really curious as to what others will choose.
Nice razors Chris. I have several on your list. Still can't deny a nice vintage Gillette.
Thanks Douglas. I like the vintage Gillettes as well but I wouldn't pick them over any of these:)
Hey Chris, I love all these “best of” type lists! Barbershop is a scent that most soap makers probably make, do you have a list of your top Barbershop scents or makers? Cheers and stay safe!
Thanks Dana. I'll definitely do a barbershop list:)
Nice choices! Some good ones in there for sure.
Thanks Brian, I appreciate it sir.
Nice list!. If only I could get that stirling here in aus!
Thanks sir. Sorry about the shipping thing.
I didn’t follow the 5 artisan instructions cause I’m a rebel 😎🤘🏻. Plus all my choices could’ve fit in any category!!!
I can understand that.
Wise categorization👍
I agree except for Rockwell (it's just me).. I find karve & progress both versatile & appealing..
That said👍👍👍 4 all the other choices..
Good thinking
Thank you. The Rockwell just edged out the progress for me. I dunno exactly why but I really like it.
@@IAMCDB I also agree RR is a great value, but the 3 heads produced by charcoal 4 west coast maybe a good example of value
@@firecured1701 You're right sir, that's a nice value as well. I do like the Stainless Offerings from RR though.
@@IAMCDB the SS Lupo dual head
is a good example of the value they offer
@@firecured1701 good point.
Not bad .... I have every one but #5 & #10 ... couldn't argue any of those choices..
Thank you sir. All of these are really nice. What would be your top 5 sir?
@@IAMCDB 1. Timeless SB .95 mm Titanium
2. Charcoal Goods Gen2 Lvl 2 SB
3. Blackland BlackBird SB
4. Carbon - CX-316
5. Karve - D plate
@@rmaggi3019 Excellent choices sir.
Above the tie to me are my premium favorite and under appreciated and I do have several of them..
And they're amazing..
I agree Raul, they are very good razors.
I enjoyed watching this video and also by other RUclipsrs. I would also like to see a video on razors which you purchased with eager anticipation and high hopes but were let down by the shave.
Thank you Nolin. It's rare to get a bad razor these days. I'd say the last razor I was disappointed by was the broman.
Great categories, great razors, great picks. 👍
Thank you very kindly Patrick:)
Great list Chris!
Thanks RK!
Awesome video! Super nice indeed! Cheers brother
Thanks so much brother.
I loved this post. Thanks!
Thank you Ali!
I really want to try the Karve. I am sure it is auto pilot once you get the find the right plate. I think I’m going to hold off until the copper ones come back in stock.
The Karve is a very good value IMO. The brass is quite affordable.
1. Merkur Progress.
2. Edwin Jagger DE89 Kelvin.
3. Merkur 38C
4. ATT M1 Atlas.
5. Gillette Slim L3.
6. Merkur 34C.
7. Merkur Progress - I'm assuming I can choose the same razor that falls into two or more categories, Chris.
8. Merkur 34C.
9. Merkur 34C.
10. Muhle R41.
11. Merkur 37C.
Those aren't bad choices sir. There are some great ones in your list:)
Great list of razors!!
Thank you very kindly Nav!
Rockwell 6s is daily driver for me.
That's a good one sir:)
That’s a spectacular list!
Thanks so much David.
I don’t even have 11 DE razors lol.... this is gonna be a tough one when I inevitably get tagged. Great list Chris.
Use the various base plates for the Karve to fill the spots. 🤣🤣
@@TheTravelingShaver hahaha, well, crap, I only have B and C plates lol.
You don't have to have 11:) Just pick the categories you like from the list and use those with the number of razors you have.
@@IAMCDB can I just pick Karve for all 11 hahaha. Just kidding, I’ll figure something out before I get tagged.
@@JMac. You can do it however you like:)
great list really enjoyed it.
Thanks Jeff, I appreciate it sir.
My list is:
Style: Charcoal Goods Brass Level 2 Closed Comb with Tritium Handle
Budget Friendly: Ming Shi Shaver 2000S
Under Appreciated: PAA White Bakelite Open Comb Slant
Premium: Raw Shaving RS-18
Sentiment: Blackbird Closed Comb
Versitility: Gillette M2 Gen 1 Slim Adjustable
Classic: 1938 Eclipse Model W
Daily Driver: Wolfman WR1-OC Darwin Handle
Auto Pilot: RazoRock all Titanium Baby Smooth
Aggressive: iKon SBS Aluminum Head
Can't Be Ignored: Wolfman Light Blue Anodized Ti WR1-DC WRH7 Handle
That's an excellent list Steve!
@@IAMCDB It was tough cutting a few razors even with 11! I really like my Apollo Smart Helix, Wolfman WR2, and new Carbon Ti. Next week I will break in and try my SS 0.95 Lupo. Like software, there are too many great razors.
@@stevem1563 Those sound like some great ones Steve!

Thanks David. Have a great day.
Nice choises there. 👌
Thank you Kurt!
Budget I’d say RazoRock SLOC that’s real budget
That's budget friendly for sure.
very nice list !!
Thank you very kindly Razor!
You couldn't have laid out the rules any clearer. Let's see who listened. 🤣
The last series was a disaster in terms of people sticking to the concept:)
@@IAMCDB so you thought, “let’s let them keep 11 categories straight!”
@@DanielFrazelle I was hoping by giving them a lot of slots they might not be tempted to name 100 honorable mentions:)
Let me guess, did you do a Top 10 and couldn't leave out the Blackbird so you had to make an 11th category lol I don't blame you
No. I wanted to add one category for folks to throw in that razor they just have to have:)
Should have called it "the magnificent 7-11" 😂
hahahah
I could not resist honorable mentions of sentiment on the 5 artisans for life. It is kind of cheating on the “challenge” part though.
I know. That's way I made a very large number of spots this time. No one should need honorable mentions with 11 slots:)
You didn't mention wolfman!!! They're the best in the business
I owned two, I no longer own them. They are indeed terrific in terms of a craftsmanship but I didn't keep them. In craftsmanship they are at the top of the heap but many razors match them in the actual shave IMO.
Anybody who has 11 razors needs to go and see somebody because you have a problem my friends
I've got 12 whoops lol.
So 11 is the point where we have a problem? Thanks for diagnosing us sir.
@@IAMCDB My last count was 75+. All wonderful in their own way.
@@Larry.Roberton yes sir. Each one provides for a unique experience:)
Where's the wolfman???? I thought it would be the last one you will introduce. ㅎㅎㅎ
I owned two in the past but don't have them anymore. Brilliantly crafted razors for sure.
Where is START 2 from Rassia, Diplomat Baikal Taiga etc ..
Hello,
I am interested in purchasing a safety razor but I am wondering for what reason a person wants to spend more than $50 or $100 on one? Thanks
Great list Chris and sticking with the rules here are my favorite 13 razors just joking say safe
Hahah, that's the way folks tend to do things.
Why no 'Best Performance' category?
All of these perform well:)
No travel razor in this video?
Good afternoon...
Hey Calvin!
Van de hagen
and Mühle r41?😊
Good razor but not in this list.
I'm to poor for the Stainless Steel DE rabbit hole.
Some are pricey but I consider them lifetime investments. They are razors you can pass down.
Daily driver for me would be 1940’s SuperSpeed
That's a nice razor Mike!
