    *** Please note, Ozone is toxic, though, only above a certain threshold. Majority of studies indicate that prolonged inhalation of Ozone is the vector of toxicity, not skin contact. This is not prolonged exposure ***

      yes you are correct. i am always mystified why everyone jumps on the safety band wagon LIKE PRE-PROGRAMMED ROBOTS so quickly yet 248000 people last year in America were killed by side effects of PRESCRIPTION drugs and not a headline in sight!!! How many people were killed by ozone gas. ZERO. Reminds me of Pavlonian conditioning by the media. Ring the bell and the dogs salivate.

      Hi Bruno, unless you and Ese have had disagreements on other threads i'm not familiar with, flexing your degree right off the bat seems a bit ostentatious and misplaced. Did I miss something?
      Just merely for perspective, hear me out: I have a biology degree and also attended medical-based schools for a portion of a degree. I won first place for physics and science for the entire Seattle school district in 2006, so I was first for physics and biology out of about 15,000 people. I have appeared on several live television shows presenting physics and high voltage discoveries. Been on discovery channel twice as well, talking about science. By no means does this make me a medical expert. But, I dont right off the bat tell people my credentials when I disagree with someone. In fact, you're the first person in 4 years of youtube that i've mentioned this all to.
      Most often, people who flex their credentials right away in a discussion are those who are not trained in debate. Which is totally fine, i get it. But your flexing seemed a little misplaced, and unnecessarily heated bro. I must have missed a previous interaction between you two, because that is the only thing that would make your comment, make more sense.
      And for the record, many studies agree the *weak* link between leukemia and powerlines has to do with the intensity of the 50/60 Hz electric field next to their bodies, and the prolonged exposure, not the ozone itself. Here's just two of a handful of government studies agreeing with that:
      www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1469914/
      la-dwh.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/8.2.4.6.1.5.4_BPA-1989breton.pdf
      For the record, i'm not saying ozone is totally safe. I'm just saying OSHA allows US workers to inhale it at 0.1ppm, all day. There is a sensitively threshold for every chemical, as well as a toxic threshold. Being in medicine, you are familiar with these terms.
      Cheers, and be in good health.

      @@PlasmaChannel Hi Sir (sorry, this is my first time on this channel and I don't know your name yet). I have a question: how do you know that the bactericidal effect that was showed in your test wasn't caused by the corona discharge itself? @@PlasmaChannel Hi Plasma Channel. i only mentioned in the context of sterilization and in medical applications. This guy jumps on to me about breathing. I am well aware it bad to breathe it in at high concentrations and for long periods of time. we have 3 ozone generators fora dozen years and we use them to make ozonated water to drink to keep us healthy or to knock out to bugs from food poisoning. Also recently to kill corona virus in the air from suspected carrier. none of us have had any issues with lungs. You can google medical uses of ozone yourself. you can use it to sterilize PPE and face masks by enclosing these items in a box or small cupboard or a small room. AND THEN LEAVING THE ROOM.

  • @GRBtutorials
    @GRBtutorials 4 года назад +282

    There's another drawback of ozone when used to sterilise rooms, though: ozone is a powerful oxidiser so it's corrosive, and the objects in your room might not appreciate it... (particularly iron/steel and rubber).

    • @ericlotze7724
      @ericlotze7724 4 года назад +20

      also in order to work it must reach beyond reccomended human exposure limits, so leave tthe room + post venthilation is needed

    • @PlasmaChannel
      @PlasmaChannel  4 года назад +86

      Correct, however ozone still takes quite some time to corrode plastic and rubber. Acrylic for example has a very high resistance to ozone correction. Many rubbers exhibit mild corrosion resistance as well. So, if using ozone in an open room once every while, the overall damage to items would take years to become noticeable, if even measurable.
      It’s not an immediate reaction like pouring acid on a table.
      And, as mentioned in the video, you do need to leave the room/ building if using ozone sterilization. A fan is used to circulate it around the room. You’d come back in, open windows immediately, turn off the device, and leave again until room has aired out.

      Copper door knobs already sterilize themselves. That's the entire point of copper.
      There's a very important reason why this is never done. Ozone is toxic af. You can not use it willy nilly, like being demonstrated in the video, this is potentially very dangerous. At the very least, that machine needs a timer, to make sure nobody accidently leaves it on.

    • @outdoorflowsports
      @outdoorflowsports 4 года назад +2

      Eugene S not true. The concentrations that are dangerous, dangerous only to lung tissue, you can’t even inhale because your throat will close. Of course if you are stupid enough you can always find a way to harm yourself with lower concentrations over longer exposures.

    • @PlasmaChannel
      @PlasmaChannel  4 года назад +22

      For perspective, I have multiple machines that produce FAR greater ozone levels then this, that I use on the regular. And I do mean regular. I have worked around high levels of ozone for 16 years straight. Last doctor noted zero problems with my lungs, and I’m very healthy. As stated in the video, this device does not produce enough ozone in one use to cause harm. Otherwise, I’d have died 30 times over by now.

      Tell me about it. I use rubbing alcohol to clean my glasses and wipe the oil off of my face and I can't find it anywhere. I also made up some concentrated hydrogen peroxide and realized I haven't got any fuel to mix it with cuz I was gonna just use 99% rubbing alcohol. The funny thing is, 70% works better for sterilization, but people still buy out all of the 99%. The only reason I buy 99% is because I can dilute it with sterile distilled water and make it 70% or 50% if need be.

      HI Everybody. I was wondering if a plasma ball could be used to disable the corona virus inside the lungs simply by holding a plasma ball/tesla coil near the lung/chest area front and back as the field seems to exist quite a distance. Viruses are quite fragile and a strong em field could disable it's reproductive ability and the body could clear it like any other infection....

      Not at all.. ozone is kinda toxic (even though its basically oxygen) also holding this kind of charge near palm is painless and not damaging but around the chest area? Don’t expect miracles.

    Great video. From someone with a degree in both physics & chemistry, your science is spot on. I might add though, sterilisation with a UVC Ozone producing bulb of at least 20 watts will thoroughly clean a room. Set it on a timer to come on for 90 minutes during the night and the room is clean and ozone free by the morning. Never look at a UVC bulb when it’s switched on, leave the room and explain to your family exactly what it is.

    I have used ozone generators for two decades safely. It is an amazing way to clean out a very toxic house especially one infiltrated by black mold by closing all the windows turning the thing all the way up and leaving the house for two days stay with a friend or a hotel or something on the second day go in and turn that sucker off and open all the windows and set fans running. And then stay gone for another 24 hours while the fans are completely dissipating the residual ozone. This works incredibly. I've also used it inside the ears have consumed the water and have used ozonated olive oil and coconut oil to treat athlete's foot nail fungus and other skin conditions including psoriasis. When I was first experimenting I did get one time a very bad burning sensation in the back of my throat because I was uneducated at that point I had the thing running on high in a small bathroom and then I went into the bathroom to clean the walls and the toilet while the thing was running and even know that door was open such a small space I got too much concentration in my lungs. I've also had units that have a timer cycle that you can set it to run any number of seconds per minute for example, I used to have it running in the house at 20 seconds per each minute so it would turn on, run 20 seconds, and then turn off for 40 seconds. That worked well also but even then I would turn it off completely for weeks at a time just to keep the percentages correct for inhalation

    I was wondering what's the best way to build an ozone generator for a small room. One that wouldn't involve any physical touching. Just something that would kill germs and remove strong odours by being left alone in a shut room. Also having it battery powered would be great. But more importantly something that is silent with no loud spark burst or risks of fire. Something that works quick and efficient.

  • @chrisbrinzo
    @chrisbrinzo 4 года назад

    In the brewing industry, some of us use ozonated water for sanitizing different process points - fermenters and filling machines are the most common.
    There are some challenges with using it post fermentation as it is a very powerful oxidizer (which can ruin the final product).
    We are very careful about not using the words "sanitize" and "sterilize" interchangeably as they do not mean the same thing.

    • @PlasmaChannel
      @PlasmaChannel  4 года назад

      Chris that’s really interesting to learn. Yeah I image too much would kill off your cultures, right? Ozone all kills molds, yeasts and fungus.
      Good point as well. They mean different things.

    • @chrisbrinzo
      @chrisbrinzo 4 года назад

      @@PlasmaChannel It certainly does have the potential to kill yeast cultures. Typically sanitizing with ozonated water is done at least an hour before yeast comes into contact with the sanitized surface. This gives enough time for the ozone to decay into ordinary oxygen, which then theoretically acts as a yeast nutrient.

    I built a high output o3 generator a few years ago, and placed it in my bro's apartment, in an attempt to kill w/e kept making my neices and nephew really sick. With the kiddies out, of course.
    It worked. Hands down.
    So then I experimented on myself March of 2018 - small bedroom, window cracked, oscillating fan on high - just to see how irritating this stuff could be, I can bear 10 min at most with the amount mine puts out, and im an asthmatic. I completely get where you're coming from with the lung damage... however, I wasnt aware at the time that actual damage could occur.
    I fell asleep with it on, Thanksgiving eve, because I caught a bad cold or somethin, runny stuffy nose and shortness of breath.. mannn.
    When I woke up the next morning I was so miserable... my chest ached with deep breaths, my head ached, because I forgot to turn the generator off... but the sickness was gone and I could breathe, albeit with discomfort, but fighting viral intruders overnight was new for me! The following day, I felt great!!
    So then I researched more.. ah, temporary lung damage.. apparently the damage is to cells that are immediately replaced...
    Could be a longshot, but what if repeating that discomforting process could help someone recover, after taking a turn for the worse, amidst this pandemic?

    UV around the 180nm wavelength produces large quantities of ozone whilst drawing as little as 8 watts of power. I'd be interested to see which is more effective per watt.
    I use a UV 183nm tube, within a few seconds the smell of ozone becomes very apparent. I bought it on the belief that it was a 254nm tube for direct line of sight disinfection.
    I do not have any way to test the wavelengths other than the large amount of ozone produced, which is very noticeable by smell alone, and suggests a wavelength below 200nm.
    It may produce wavelengths at both 254 and around 180. Which would disinfect in line of sight via UV damage to cells and also oxidative damage from ozone not reliant on line of sight.
    So far it's done a great job of sterilising my families n95 face masks to ensure multiple uses. To highlight, n95 masks must not be washed or rinsed in water or dry cleaned with alcohol due to its particle filtration being reliant on static charges within the fibres. Hence ozone or UV being a suitable way to keep them sterile after use.
    I would be very interested to see a comparison using a sub 200nm uv tube for sterilisation Vs the plasma generator. The fallback of the UV tube is that it is not safe to use on skin, even for short periods. So items to be sterilised need to either be in a closed room with no one in and then aerated or in a box or other suitably shielded container.
