Thx a lot for these tutorials. Been struggling with my mixes a lot lately. Been trying to find some good opinions on what dB my kick etc should be on. Definitely appreciate the series. Gonna cop some packs just to support you bro.
you'd typically use sidechaining on an 808 if a kick ends up clashing with it on some frequencies (even after eqing), or you can make the kick simply flow/blend into the 808 to give it more unified sound
The problem for me is that when i put down band one for the eq on the kick or use a compressor on the kick or even use a soft clipper on the kick, it makes the kick none punchy. How can i change that
Dont compress the kick at all!!!!!! Kicks are suppose to kick!!! Find a new kick or try to turn the bass down on the kick, kicks shouldnt muffle or smother your melody!!! No compresser for the kick or bass, equalize them!!!
If I'm not mistaken aren't you supposed to cut 20-30hz of your 808 because those frequencies generally cant be heard/ muddy your mix and any limiter or compressor you put on the master will take those low frequencies into account and lessen the amount of "loudness" you can actually bring out of your master/final?
I would use maximus for kick and 808 but nothing else because i looked at it in wave candy and maximus completely merges the audio with no stereo seperation even though it sounds seperated. Also i personally would turn off the saturation on that maximus preset, i prefer the high quality original sample over the distortion.
You need to learn how to use maximus in order to get a clean master out of the vst. I take my time personally to edit when it comes to mastering, in this tutorial I gave a quick tip. Make sure to use the separation on the channel itself then on the main master add maximus; maximus will have the mono and separation option for low, mid & highs if needed. I'll make a tutorial on my mixing & mastering soon for this channel.
StudioPlug looking forward to the video man! Id like to learn new things about maximus. But check it for yourself if youd like; Drop wavecandy on the last line on the master channel, change it to the vectorscope setting and put maximus before it and see if it merges the stereo, i could be wrong
Geoff Rumson Yea man I will check it out and see. I usually go based off what my ear likes best though, everyone has there own style so I just show my methods and what works best for me. I will drop a in depth tutorial later on this month
After I mix all the channels I move on to the master channel where I use a multiband compressor and bring the lowend to mono, mid to 12% separation, and highs to 25% separation for the entire mix.
I have a question about how to make the length of the 808 the same across all notes. Example would be when you put it on a higher note it shortens the 808 significantly and when you put it on a lower note it gets shorter and just muddier. How do you balance it across notes?
banger ganger just turn them up bro, a lot of high up producers dont compress. They just turn it up and eq if the sample needs it. If you want them to sound larger there is a trick to make 2 snares and pan them opposite left and right then delay one of them by a few milliseconds and it will sound wider
you forgot a trick i use u square the kick out then cut sample and always turn loop point orange light off and right click the time knob and set it to none some samples can have some orange just click none so the sample sounds like it should also i go into my piano roll for my kick pattern and raise the velocity all the way the fuck up your kicks will be sure to be knocking and beefy
You should get a bundle from waves plugins... Definitely more useful than native FL studio plugins. Fab Filter is a visual EQ you can use & you can solo bandpass frequencies w/o mixing them out. Maybe slightly more fundamentals on self compression rather than using a preset. Every mix should be different when you’re doing the full process. Just my opinion from one producer to another tho. But good video using the native plugins. Mastering is definitely a whole nother field within mixing you’re spot on about that.
Zoxeo Thats why you should never listen to videos like this. Dont take this as "the right way" maybe it works for him, but with other sounds the story is gonna be a lot different.
great sir uh r awsme ♥️♥️♥️ i just luv ur tutorial and teaching way keep it up 🔥🔥🔥 sir can uh plz make a tutorial on how to make chords progression melody for r&b soul genre plz i get much problem in the chords progression making and melody too so plz help me ill be very thankful to you ♥️♥️🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thats true for this video, I like using a high shelf on the subfrequencies tough (< 50 Hz), because i dont want to cut them out completely, but make them quieter but still present in the mix. That way the 808/Bass of the song bangs more IMO! you can still cut anything below 21 Hz as those frequencies dont really do that much (to me at least)
HOPE YALL ENJOYED THIS TUTORIAL.

Good looking bro i just wonder why you put the maximus at the bottom of the effect channel on the master
which drumkit you used for that kick...that ONE hell of a KICK?
thx
3 years and your vids still relevant. thank you so much
APPRECIATE THE TIP BRO.....DEFINITELY WAS A BIG HELP.
Should you Max out velocities on your kick and 808 in the piano roll?
Thx a lot for these tutorials. Been struggling with my mixes a lot lately. Been trying to find some good opinions on what dB my kick etc should be on. Definitely appreciate the series. Gonna cop some packs just to support you bro.
does it depend on what kit ur using cuz sometime the quality of some dumkits are superbad
yea some kits are bad, sound selection is a huge part in making music
Thanks man appreciate you so much, I had quit making beats you got me back motivated again...
exactly why your the plug bro
Always 🙌
Do you recommend to sidechain the 808 with the Kick?
Pedro García it depends on what kick and 808 you use. Might use or might not. Sidechaining sounds professional so even if it's little it sounds good.
you'd typically use sidechaining on an 808 if a kick ends up clashing with it on some frequencies (even after eqing), or you can make the kick simply flow/blend into the 808 to give it more unified sound
Just level and eq correctly that's all, sidechaing maybe for edm genres
The problem for me is that when i put down band one for the eq on the kick or use a compressor on the kick or even use a soft clipper on the kick, it makes the kick none punchy. How can i change that
Maybe you put the fast compressor atack and cut the fundamental frequency of the kick with the eq
Dont compress the kick at all!!!!!! Kicks are suppose to kick!!! Find a new kick or try to turn the bass down on the kick, kicks shouldnt muffle or smother your melody!!! No compresser for the kick or bass, equalize them!!!
@@217escotbeats5 yeah I learned that well through time I’m ok now ty though
You’re a lifesaver plug 🐍‼️

I use a eq on my master channel where I cut out frequencies below 40hz 👍
Helpful af thanks.
don´t you use sidechain? I'm from Brazil and I watched all your videos and learned a lot. thanks bro!

Thanks bro! Thats why you are the plug
Little things like this really helps! Thanks Plug 🙏🙏
Hey question i was a edm producer before, im
Just wondering why you dont put your bass in mono? You let the engineers do it ? Idk plz answer
After I mix all the channels I move on to the master channel where I use a multiband compressor and bring the lowend to mono, mid to 12% separation, and highs to 25% separation for the entire mix.
I would recomend ya to give more details while ur explaining
An in depth Mixing & mastering tutorial would be greatly appreciated for aspiring producers such as myself 🙏🏾

Thank you, man very useful
can u make the next vid about how to make drums ( snares claps and..) fat and crisp by compression
banger ganger just turn them up bro, a lot of high up producers dont compress. They just turn it up and eq if the sample needs it. Thank You!
Really want another one of these, bit more for beginners?? 808 and kick , I cant really figure out how to make one from stock FL sound like that 😕
You can find drum kits online, specifically reddit. Try searching haywire drum kit, and then search best pierre Bourne drum kit. Those are really good

You explain what you're doing but you don't explain what it does and why we do it...
Zoxeo Thats why you should never listen to videos like this. Dont take this as "the right way" maybe it works for him, but with other sounds the story is gonna be a lot different.

its cool, but i think only compressor with 6db ok kick can put kick to knock as hell
How come I can’t really ever hear my 808s through my phone speaker?
Because phone speakers don't usually have a subwoofer in them, so they can only pick up mids and highs
I usually do it like this:
-pull the velocities up
-eq the kick
-then I use camel crusher
you can also use pro mb
Great tutorial Studioplug. What drums are those?
Dope Plug
how can I get that 808 sir
247 365 here are some for free ruclips.net/video/r78dIQ1GiMs/видео.html
Listening to his voice and all, if he ending the video like "bitch i'm the pluuug!!" with his tone fading away..that would be funny as FUCK!!
any1 else check their sound in the beginning?

👣
Where are your how to mix videos??????
this video saved my beat lmao
you sound like pouya
facts lmao
i think this is not the best way to mix
do what works for you
AND THE SIDECHAIN??
Good basic tutorial, but I suggest using Low pass filters rather then a high shelf and bell on top of it.
Thats true for this video, I like using a high shelf on the subfrequencies tough (< 50 Hz), because i dont want to cut them out completely, but make them quieter but still present in the mix. this is not a good way for me ...
