    1st tip is a good one... But i'd have to interject with you just a little. You can make those sounds in the same freq range work. If one of the sounds doesn't have reverb or delay. Or, you could use reverb to drive one sound further than the other. there's also panning and subtractive EQ. This has to be done and only noticed by someone with a trained ear... The concept presented definitely will work fill in the higher freq range tho. Good vid!!

    U have to dont forget something, root notes isnt the lower in the chords root note is the note who give the name of the chord and ur 808 dont play the root note here ur chords are Csus2/Dmin7(with 7th upside down)/Gmaj and Emin so ur real root note are C/D(but bass can play F)/G/E this is why ur 808 sound not that goot hes not realy in tune ..
    if i can help some beginners in music theory to dont make misstake ;)

    • @baklap141
      @baklap141 6 лет назад

      Luck
      Just eq the one that causes resonating , if you do that on the right frequency spot it will work.
      Usually also the db meter is going beyond zero when its not equalized properly , I always use eyes and ears to filter out stuff.
      But mostly its all about picking the right sounds that fit the music style , if it already sounds good without any eq you've paired the right sounds with each other.

      @@mugenpower7545 he did specify that if you want to sell the beat then it's better to keep it simple. It increases the amount of artists who can rap/sing on it, therefore increases your chances of getting placements.
      If your purpose it to make YOUR art, go ahead that's fine. Scarlxrds beats are crazy af with kick rolls and sounds you'd use to torture someone but removing that would ruin his sound.

    melodies in the same frequency range, I would just pan them opposite of each other to help it blend better. Tell me if I'm wrong, good tips BTW 🙏🙏

      Panning is a very good tool for cleaning up the mix, seperating instruments and giving your track some depth.
      I don't think enough producers use it properly.

    the only part wrong about your example of overcomplication was the drum selection is trash

    I think that if the melody is basic like a 4 note pattern then the drums gotta be more complex

    Tbh, I'm an artist myself (As well as a producer) and I know plenty of artists like myself that think the beat you made with complicated percussion sounds hard af. lol. Just an opinion tho

      In the end it's about the rapper or singer on the production. You can't make it all about yourself. Leave room for the artist.

    I got a question, I have started, and just now starting to get into music production. I have been watching tutorials, and trying to make beats for about a month now. As I am very new to the music scene, I am not very creative. There are times when, I can't even get an idea for a melody. Are these signs that I should just step away from making beats?

      Keep doing it as long as it's fun, challenging and interesting I'd say

    disagree with the third one about drum patterns, complex drum patterns can be really cool if done well. the trick is to deconstruct the pattern only when someone is rapping over it, so it doesn’t sound cluttered. it can be subtle, but it can also grow obvious if more and more is taken away. a great example of this is monster by kanye. as people are rapping in the song, the originally complex beat is dismantled until it’s only a kick pattern, then is built back up, forming kind of a wave of shit being taken out and put back in

    For the first tip, are you saying that you should raise it an octave and EQ it...or only just raise a couple octaves up w/o EQ so it doesn’t clash with the melody ?

    • @BarmizzIe
      @BarmizzIe 6 лет назад

      I think he's saying both, no reason not filter out frequencies that aren't being used (a nice triple negative)
