This is how I enjoy my drum corps: higher, faster, louder. I don't care what competitive ranking you have. I'll stand up and cheer and buy your merch if you bring the house down.
These guys were so much better then scores and placement would tell you. Also just have to love that uniform and drill
Their drill was incredible
Jeremy Hodges the drill was dirty and lots of dirt throughout the show in general. Also listen to the trombone intonation. Stop your bias and actually listen and watch
@@jeremyhodges6957 idk bout that chief love the show alot but it's just not clean and neither is "old drum Corp" if we're being honest, still fire tho
The show is awesome, but as said before it is dirty.
jak gff old drum corp bruh. BRUH have you watched 93 stuff? 96 stuff? 98? That stuff is the foundation of dci drill. Go do your history homework kid.
This show was surprisingly fire
The meat grinder was the best drill move of 2019 hands down
Without a doubt. Jaw dropped when I saw it at semifinals
Lifted verbatim from another corps' show from 20 years ago. Still cool nonetheless.
Blue's Clues for Fools me too, it gave me chills when I saw it in person,
Going to have to disagree with that. Blue Stars takes that crown for me.
The best meat grinder ever done; Cavaliers ala 90s. Definitley meat "slicer" 2002. I enjoyed this show. Nostalgic.
Most underrated drumline of 2019. This line was throwing down 🔥
They marched more in this 2:30 clip than the first place corps did in 10 minutes. Bravo Scouts
This was such a fun part to perform
amen brother
I marched DCI in the 1990s, and I've seen a lot of shows. The drill at the end of this is some of the coolest that I've seen!
My favorite show of that year. Not perfect, but surely ENTERTAINING and nice looking uniforms, that do not seemed to be picked out right from trash.
Interesting fact: They marched an entire line of flugelhorns this year.
I approve of this
Academy used to do that.
@@yomama847 wait, when did they do that???
@@ryangreen9378 I think '09/'10
Crossmen 2012 did that I'm pretty sure
Love the battery book!! Absolutely amazing!!
Derrick Shannon does write some great battery parts. This book slaps
My favorite moment of the season!
The Shows get Better every time
Thank god I can watch the meat grinder over and over again!
I don’t think Madison has topped a show since this as far as crowd pleasing goes. Great stuff!!!
Funny to think that 10 years ago this would’ve been a top 5 show
10 years ago? 2009. Top 5 is a STRETCH. I am a fan of the show, but not quite.
Ah, no
Naw ita super dirty
meat: ground ✅
that drill was incredible!!
I remember being at the ATL show and starting to cheer a solid 5 seconds before everyone else because I realized just how fast and how long they were moving. They were BOOKING IT
gosh I loved these uniforms
I still don't understand how this show didn't score higher.
What was the show about? That's why.
Jesu Spectre as far as I’m concerned, a DCI doesn’t need a fully fleshed out plot complete with foil characters and plot twists to be exciting. It needs to be well executed, and it is. It needs to be engaging with the crowd- you know, the general effect the program as a whole has on the audience. you can see the audience give 3 separate standing ovations over the course of the show, it must have affected the audience in some way for that to happen. Most of all, it needs professionalism, uniformity, and corps identity- factors which judges have recently seemed to forget about. This show has all of these things. The lack of a cohesive theme doesn’t mean all that much when DCI at its core is about providing entertaining music and engaging visuals to go along with it. I certainly don’t mean to say this show was top 6 material. It wasn’t. But how it wasn’t part of the top 12 doesn’t make any sense to me. The absolute dependance on elements that drum corps has not historically needed to provide- such as a super theme focused show- isn’t what drum corps is conducive toward producing. Eventually, if the show is theme focused enough, it just becomes an outdoor play with no words but tons of brass. To me, that’s not drum corps.
Sam Rovito 😳
@@jesuspectre9883 and yet concept show often ranks very high in scoring and placement, very few share your opinion and I doubt many judges do either
@@jesuspectre9883 I just woke up, wanted to watch some DCI to wake me up, and I see your rather irritating and egotistical comment and I grew tired of it. I'm just glad nearly nobody shares your opinion.
That drill made my jaw drop, wow
17th nothin. Absolutely robbed.
Madison recovered some of its old glory after a couple of difficult years but got no credit from the judges. Sigh.
Goosebumps!!!
SCOUTS!
is no one gonna mention the clean stick flip at 1:09
Thanks!
Really dig those uniforms. Looks like Madison.
Best drill move of 2019. I'm sad that impressive drill moves are not used nearly as much anymore. What happened to all the talented drill writers in DCI? There are a few decent drill moments here and there from corps, but it is so limited and watered down compared to what it used to be. Bring back good drill!
It's all about props and dancing and then parking and blowing at the top these days. Those have their moments, but I'm glad Madison Scouts are holding down some old school drill and volume.
Rber when they used to be able to put these videos out in the fall
Not quite how i remember summer camp
This show deserved higher than 17th but was solidly out of top 12. These kids performed the help out of the dud their staff gave them. These 2 minutes were the best in the show by far, and still disjointed and lacking in cohesion. The musical ideas are manic and unfocused.
Madison seems to be having an identity crisis from year to year. I think they need to reassess their entire design philosophy and establish what they want the Corps to be and stick with it. You aren't going to please everyone in this activity, or as performing artists in general. Find something you love, stick with it, establish a culture of excellence, and build year after year.
Tubas over here like "What y'all fussin about?"
Cmon Aidan, the ONE moment the camera is on you...
jeez, lots of holes of the field
At 1:32 what is the name of the song they are playing ?
Zian Thorne it’s called Backlash.
Can we get a troopers video 😎
Need a better visual show and a good guard to be competitive.
welp, the female inclusion should just about fix the guard problem
If this show had added a thematic element, even a subtle one, it would have placed.
What happened to the scouts? I gotta go put on Scouts 1995 to make me feel better about watching this.
Drill great. Drums great. Hornline great. Guard great. What's missing? A throughline. Meaning. Isn't it amazing how drum corps shows have advanced to the point of needing a thematic throughline, or else the entire show deflates and doesn't have an ending? The activity is one step closer to professional-level standards when every show has thematic meaning and a clear arc of action with a satisfying ending. Doesn't have to be singing, doesn't have to be dialogue, or dancing or stage sets or characters or props, but... meaning.
you're an actual laughing stock in the drum corps community and i hope you know that
Drill and program was amazing! The uniforms must a have been a mistake. They look awful!
Sorry Madison...I luv ya, but these uniforms are some of the ugliest I have ever seen.
Drumline looks like they're sucking on pacifiers... Poor choice, poor choice.
