The decision to have no suspended cymbals in the pit was super ballsy, and in my opinion it worked, especially for this opener. Also the drumline parts are so unique for the whole show. Great opener.
I'm an percussion player and I know nothing about color guard but that beginning with the color guard was clean and together and the whole corp brought the show together with that blast
No cymbals until the big hit in the closer, "Lonely World," and their appearance after 10 minutes of absence add a whole new layer of timbre. I don't think it was an accident.
@@jthomas100tube Kevin (front ensemble writer) said that he felt pit arranging relied too heavily on cymbals. "Oh, empty space for a build here, lets put a cymbal roll!" So he wanted to write a show that challenged him and his normal way of arranging
the opener build in this show is amazing, the intro of the brass in the opener is amazing, blue knights really know how to make a beautifully crafted show
Okay, Mike Jackson and crew are notorious for hiding incredible depth in their programming. Anyone think about the battery triplet rolls between 1:00 and 1:45 sounding like a med-evac helicopter coming after the accident.
This show does what it's supposed to do- explore the concept of memory and various design ideas from previous shows. But where is the rest of the substance? When is the part where it blossoms into its own thing? This design team is incredibly skilled in desecrating amazing music with the most (or least, in this case) creative ways known to man. Awesome show bruh I love it totally auditioning next year
I disagree. And my opinion means more than you because my job in reality TV does an excellent job at feeding my massive ego to the point where I believe that I'm the only one with a qualified opinion on the design of drum corps shows because this is a college-level activity that deserves sophistication.
@@social.gay.awkward5809 you are absolutely right. I commend your huge ego and unwavering self-importance. How the hell did you get so smart? Also, I get that drum corps is a serious and community-driven art form that deserves sophistication, but DCI fans are perplexed at this: no one knows storytelling better than Jesu Spectre, but the story he chooses to tell of himself goes like this... A world-renowned reality TV professional becomes valiantly dedicated to the literary enlightenment of... a bunch of kids in a youtube comment section? Why not write a book, or better yet, post a video essay on the relationship between theatre and drum corps and watch as thousands of normies flock to it and learn from your great wisdom? Why approach the normies with sarcasm and condescension which they will promptly reject as a reason not to listen to you? Triggered normies do not think on your level of intellectual discussion, and cannot take value from your words even if value is abundant. Is your behavior so that they will click on your profile and find Jesus? Is it so that they will learn how to interpret the bible with sound doctrine? Is it so that they will weed themselves out from your intellectual cult recruiting process? Or is it all just all an elaborate trollololilolllll1ll? How do you suppose your youtube interactions advance the cause of meaning, and demonstrate the true beauty of artistic substance? Especially since the normies do not realize your divine gift, and view your message and online personality as no more coherent than all Blue Knights shows in a blender? This is the glaring confusion about your character. We know your purpose, and we understand your reputation, but how do those work together to push you forward in the timeline? How do you respond now? Who will you be when your cult successfully revolutionizes drum corps, or when your message fades into the toxic abyss of 12 year-old memelords on the internet forever? We don't see any of that. Find a way to resolve that and you skyrocket to first place. Once again, we all just want to know how someone so smart and busy ends up making such a sacrificial effort for the most ignorant of social media platforms. Wait... is that another Jesus parallel? I'm so amazed that this is what 7th place looks like now.
It s a different level than it was a decade ago
IMO this show should’ve placed higher, it was super clean
@@dciaudio 6th to first were all very outstanding, probably only would have made 6th over BC
And now I'll be marching with the Blue Knights this year!
One of the most beautiful openers ever.
Update '22: so stoked to march for these guys!
truly
Agreed
Heck yes!
Congratulations on your contract!!
Congrats my man! I'm marching Mandarins so I'll see you around!
No one:
That one kid who studied before the test:
You study for tests?
*I remember everything*
I don't know what this means
When they said 2:11. The world felt that
The decision to have no suspended cymbals in the pit was super ballsy, and in my opinion it worked, especially for this opener. Also the drumline parts are so unique for the whole show. Great opener.
Blue Knights year and year out continue to put out great shows.
One of there shows had me in tears.
What a great opening hit
Love this show top to bottom. From the drumline marching and playing at a different tempo to the brass playing. I always cried when it ended.
The white rims are strong in this corps. Thanks, Blue Knights!
Their drum major is incredible to watch
I've always been a huge fan of the Bluecoats, but I whole-heartedly believe that the Blue Knights deserved to be in the top five. 💙👑
I'm an percussion player and I know nothing about color guard but that beginning with the color guard was clean and together and the whole corp brought the show together with that blast
Same same and same
This is the greatest Blue Knights show of all time. Absolutely breathtaking.
definitely one of my favorite openers this year
Not a suspended cymbal in sight. I can't fathom the creativity it must take to make a marching show without the sus.
Exactly. There's nowhere to hide with your entrances. Super ballsy and super cool.
No cymbals until the big hit in the closer, "Lonely World," and their appearance after 10 minutes of absence add a whole new layer of timbre. I don't think it was an accident.
I feel like the theme of this show is transparency, so that makes so much sense.

Artistry. Pure artistry.
that 2 min intro was actually so hype
This shows a masterpiece and deserves so much more credit than it’s getting
Favorite show of the season for sure. And that ballad gives me chills every time I hear it.
I listened to a podcast that was explaining this show, and it really blew me away with what was behind all this. I loved this show so, SO much!
BIG 2014 and 2015 vibes here - great show, props to you BK!
those mellos are on another level
BK buildups are always so good...
Underrated
Always will be my favorite BK show ever
God bless Keith Tye
Is it just me but as the years pass this corps seems to get more sparkly
Sparklier until they get a sparkly border on that Founders' Trophy
AmaZing
Opening hit that rivals that of Crown 16
I did NOT appreciate this show nearly enough in theaters. My God.
Their hornline in person is everything
Okay, Mike Jackson and crew are notorious for hiding incredible depth in their programming. Anyone think about the battery triplet rolls between 1:00 and 1:45 sounding like a med-evac helicopter coming after the accident.
I never thought of it that way but with the show it makes so much sense wtfff
Guard choreography has me speechless
Such a brilliant and refreshing opener, stylistically unique and artistic! Congratulations on creating such a beautiful production together!
My mouth DROPPED on the brass hit
that mello line is crayzayyyyy
I usually don't like BK but damn this show was pretty good
Damn that bass note after the mello sustain in the opening brass hit is thiccc with three c's
i've never seen this show. that brass impact actually scared me.
Very clean drum roll
where did the drum placement come in at the rotating drumline line etc.
Such a good show, definitely a step in the right direction compared to 2018
How loud is the mellos??
As Nick Niehaus has already said, god bless Keith Tye.

The opener sounds like something from Hans Zimmer
For some reason this show REALLY remind me of their 2014 show... that's just me though.
So agree with your comment! These 2 shows are some of my favs all time
Honestly awesome show but despite the name I didn't remember it
Who did the V.O.?
idk some dude
@@lukekoto That's exactly who it sounds like. The Dude abides.
Jamie Smith White Russian
@@lukekoto I miss you
For some reason I kinda expected some Five Finger Death Punch with that title
Sameeee
would be awesome to see this theatergroup in some theaters again! Nice performance. compliments to the arrangers.
Sad how far BK has fallen since this show. Organization seriously needs to get it’s act together.
Hey, i was talking to the trumpet guy, on omegle. And I didnt get his Instagram, could someone pass to me? kkk
this show scored higher then genesis?
Yes a lot higher
It did by a country mile
