@@liffei420 yeah it does drop off but that shows his determination to win and charge for the least amount of time. It’s like driving a truck across the country with a 6 gallon tank 😂
@carlosl5766 yeah pretty much it was fast to stop more often and charge less for the win, well second place. I am curious about the trip back charging to 80% and how that affects the time
Yes, it drops off but from 260 kW, then it runs still faster than the Ford lightning probably to at least 60% remember the cyber trucks starts off at double the speed of the lightning
Something to keep in mind is A: Tesla is a new (American) car company competing with old and very established car manufacturers. They have had to rush like crazy to keep themselves alive, and even now they have to do so to protect themselves from ensuing Chinese competitors. Yes, Rivian is new as well, but they’re still massively unprofitable and time will tell if they’re able to survive. B: the only cyber trucks that are available now are first production low volume runs. There will undoubtedly be imperfections that they need to work through before they go in to high volume. And C: This initially happened with the model 3, S, X and Model Y. ALL OF which are amazing vehicles now. The new model 3 is considered by many respected auto enthusiasts to be a 10/10
On the CT panel fitment. I picked up my 2 motor Foundation 4 days ago on 032024. Before accepting, I did a slow walk around checking panel gaps. They have somewhat addressed this in the past, and if I do recall it would most likely be YT because they get payed for views and watching through the ads help(although most skip past). They did say Spotify was the worst.
These guys totally missed the reason I ordered a Cybertruck, I have a model Y that is great but when driving on the highway rocks and other debri that gets kicked up all the time constantly nicks and dings my car, and I don't want to park next to other cars. With a Cybertruck all that goes away, you can blast down the highway and rocks and road debri are completely harmless. No other truck / car can give you that feature.
I’m in lil ol’ Estes Park Colorado and am pleasantly surprised with the number of ev work trucks up here. The one I see the most being a f150 lightning.
Kyle, you got yourself a sub from this podcast. I'm not too into EVs, but mostly because I find the coverage of them to be rather bland. But you, as an enthusiast, seem to find the wording to blend right in my head lol. Great podcast as always, guys!
Kyle is in a league of his own with the EV wave that has pushed electric cars to do and go farther faster. Will EVs be the best overall transportation solution in the future? Well he has been able to bring it into the mainstream and I like it. I see hybrids being the answer. How come Kyle, who is from Colorado, looks like he is freezing in your California studio?
The Cybertruck is not a fashion statement - it promises (eventually) many of the theoretical features that I, a consumer who will likely only have one truck at a time, want. For us aging baby boomers: Air suspension to lower the truck for entry but raise it for off road driving on fire trails and my 20-degree slope back yard. Built in bed cover. Payload over 1500 lbs (me and 3 fat friends with luggage, more payload is better). Ride - I am hoping they fix the "truck like" ride - I don't want to feel the expansion joints in the highway. Self-driving (eventually) and Self-Parking (Eventually), and all the safety bells and whistles. 500-mile range (promised eventually) and fast charging are high on the list. But right now, it is way too expensive and too much is "promised". Right now I am looking for a very slightly used F150 Lightning Lariat Extended Range with Max Tow package - at a steeply discounted price. Love the ride and general cabin feel. The self-parking is a MUST - old men (and wives - 8) can't park a truck without it. Without Self-Parking I would be looking at a medium size truck or small truck. And yes, I plan to carry a 240 volt generator in the truck bed. Finally, please come back down to earth. A family car / truck should cost no more than a year's salary, and ideally less than half a year salary, of the buyer. Super G/T is NOT very relevant to most of us. A friend of mine owns 2 older Vipers - and only drives them to the local car show once in a while. The rest of the time he drives a Subaru or Hummer. Most of us don't own Vipers.

It'll teach you the value of patience hahaha. No, I imagine it's really not that big of a deal once you get used to it. I regularly sit in Costco parking lots for 15 minutes just waiting to even get to the pump - all for the privilege of saving 5-10 cents a gallon. The actual real answer is: you don't have to wait. Plug it in at home overnight/at work. Never think about charging, except for 30 minutes a few times on the sporadic road trip you take.
I've never waited in my life for 15 min to get to a pump. Here in Australia it's not an issue. The only lesson this teaches is the value of denial of the EV experience for anyone without @ home charging for daily usage. @@Cyrribrae
What's the actual news there? There aren't really some crazy number of Mach-E fires, let alone in homes. In 2022, they recalled 500 Mach-E because of driving software problems. At the same time, they also recalled 39,000 Expeditions and Navigators (gas cars, obviously) and said they should be parked outside due to fire risk. Charging to 100% is inefficient and unnecessary. But hardly dangerous.
There’s a great deal to admire and respect Tesla/Musk for, including kick starting a transition to a more efficient future, but I struggled to see anything relevant about the CT; it looks like a bold statement that didn’t have to be made. I agree with the host, no one who needs a truck will find anything better about the CT compared with the Lightning. Tesla should have invested in getting the Compact car out to the masses, that is a sure-fire success right there.
12:45 The 80% logic is related to the current in the form of C-rate for the cell capacity used in those vehicles and the parallel configuration, as well as the voltage of the individual cells at close to 80%. If Tesla/Rivian/and others are slowing down earlier, it is to protect against voltage overpotential of the cells, temperature gradient, and maximum cell temperature. Ford is able to do better for the same charge percentage because they likely have a lot more energy buffer that is not accessible to the customer, a tradeoff from Ford to give a better charging experience versus more range. Typically a sharp drop comes in when cells are above 4.0xV, definitely 4.1V, there will be a huge drop at least in the case of NCx based cells
In my opinion EVs are still to bleeding edge. The charging network is only part of the reason why, another part has to do with what we saw last month where it got so cold in the north east and people couldnt charge the cars and the last has to do with out of warranty battery replacement.
21:14 what you should do is follow what the car tells you to do. Not charge only to 30, or all the way to 80, every time. I get why you did it for the race, but for the drive home follow the Tesla instructions for a true understanding of what most people will do. Charging to 80 is silly (as you know) unless you absolutely have to.

@13:00 - If you don't trust stations that much, you've clearly never used many superchargers. Also @24:10 - lol. So reckless and dumb to have sharp edges all over the place. How is this legal? Kids can brush against it in a parking lot, someone could trip near it and slice their head right open - much worse than most vehicles. At least the hood isn't as high as most other trucks but the sharp edges are a disaster and really should be a Stop sale to fix. Even if they just put plastic guard bumpers in all the panel gaps.

Even if they just put plastic guard bumpers in all the panel gaps.
good content, could of done without the foul mouth vulgarity, love your videos Kyle, keep them coming
Here for Kyle not so much Matt these days.
If you think cursing is cool- think again
Off topic but can anyone answer me which watch is on Matt's wrist?
I wanna see an ev9 video
